No good comes to the sorcerer here, neither in coming nor in going; but for the cow, the milch-cow, and the hero, there is good and fame—your aids, your gracious aids—free from sin.
Whatever open or hidden evil there is, O gods, whatever misdeed, place all that far from us for Trita to obtain—your aids, your gracious aids—free from sin.
Whatever evil dream is among the cows, whatever is among us, or the daughter of the sky, carry all that away for Trita, the bright one, for him to obtain—your aids, your gracious aids—free from sin.
Whether it be a necklace or a garland, O daughter of the sky, whatever evil dream there is, all that we hand over to Trita for him to obtain—your aids, your gracious aids—free from sin.
For food, for strength, for that share which is sought, for the third and the second—may your good aids, free from harm, carry away all evil dreams, may your good aids carry them away.
As we set aside a fragment, as we set aside a hoof, as we settle a debt, so may we set aside all evil dreams for attainment, by your good aids, free from harm, may your good aids carry them away.
We have conquered, we have sat down, we have become blameless; O Dawn, from whatever evil dream we were afraid, let that vanish—by your good aids, free from harm, may your good aids carry them away.
The wise, self-reliant ones have eaten of the sweetness of life, knowing the path of abundance; all the gods and mortals, speaking of sweetness, gather around him.
Within you, O Soma, is Aditi, the boundless, moving forward with the divine vigor; accepting the friendship of Indra, may you, like a herald, bring us wealth in succession.
We have become immortal by drinking the Soma; we have come to the light, we have found the gods. What now can hostility do to us? What, O immortal, can the malice of a mortal do?
Be gracious to us, O Soma, when drunk, from the heart; like a father to his son, be kindly, O Soma; like a wise friend to a friend, O much-praised, carry us across to long life, O Soma.
These, my drinkers, glorious, mighty, like horses harnessed to a chariot at the joints, may they protect me from loss of character, and may the drops of Soma keep me from exhaustion.
Like fire kindled, shine forth for me, do not diminish our wealth; for your exhilaration, O Soma, I consider to be like prosperity—move forward to abundance.
With eager mind, may we partake of your pressed juice, as of ancestral wealth; O Soma, king, carry us across to long life, as the sun carries the days.
O Soma, king, grant us well-being; we are devoted to your command—know this. May skill and strength, O Indu, not fail us; do not let the noble one drive us away at will.
You, O Soma, are the guardian of our bodies, sitting in every limb, all-seeing. If we have transgressed your laws, be gracious to us, O good friend, O god, for well-being.
With a generous heart may we share friendship with him who, O golden-hued, would not harm me when drunk; this Soma which has been poured for us, for that I seek Indra, that he may restore our life.
Let those hostile ones, powerless, depart; let diseases flee far away; O Soma, ascend to us with help—let us go where life is renewed.
That drop, O Soma, which our fathers drank in their hearts, the immortal entered mortals; to that Soma we offer with oblation—may we be in his gracious favor.
You, Soma, united with the fathers, have stretched out to heaven and earth; to that Indu we offer with oblation—may we be masters of riches.
O gods, declare yourselves our protectors; let not sleep or slander rule over us. May we, ever dear to Soma, strong, speak forth in the assembly.
You, Soma, are the giver of all life for us; you, all-seeing, bring light to the peoples. You, O Indu, together with your aids, protect us from behind and also from before.
Raise your voices to praise Indra, the generous lord, as is fitting, who, as the bountiful Maghavan, grants to the singers abundant wealth, as if by the thousand.
Like one with a hundred followers, he advances boldly, striking down obstacles for the worshipper; his gifts, rich and plentiful, flow forth like streams from a mountain.
To you, Indra, the pressed Soma flows, O singer of praises; like waters filling a lake, O hero, the offerings fill your strength.
Drink the sweetest, most delightful honey, free from sin, crossing over to us; come to us, as you are pleased, with your own power, like one who is bold, overcoming the small with your might.
Our hymn approaches you swiftly, like a horse with its riders; the gifts that your own nature delights in, O Indra, are bestowed among the Kanvas, like cows giving milk.
We approach the mighty hero with reverence, the unfailing, abundant lord; like water pouring from a vessel, O wielder of the thunderbolt, your thoughts flow forth, Indra.
Whether now, or in sacrifice, or upon the earth, come to our offering swiftly, O mighty one, with your mighty companions.
Your horses are swift, your steeds are eager, moving like the wind; with them you encompass the offspring of man, with them you behold all the heavens.
