उत त्वाबधिरं वयं श्रुत्कर्णं सन्तमूतये । दूरादिह हवामहे
Even though you are deaf, O wide-hearing one, we call to you for help from afar.
यच्छुश्रूया इमं हवं दुर्मर्षं चक्रिया उत । भवेरापिर्नो अन्तमः
If you would hear this call, and act with determination, then may you be our helper, our nearest one.
यच्चिद्धि ते अपि व्यथिर्जगन्वांसो अमन्महि । गोदा इदिन्द्र बोधि नः
If, indeed, we have neglected you in any way as we moved about, O Indra, knower of cattle, be mindful of us.
आ त्वा रम्भं न जिव्रयो ररभ्मा शवसस्पते । उश्मसि त्वा सधस्थ आ
To you, O lord of might, we have bound ourselves as a living branch to a tree; we have placed you in the seat of honor.
स्तोत्रमिन्द्राय गायत पुरुनृम्णाय सत्वने । नकिर्यं वृण्वते युधि
Sing a hymn to Indra, of manifold strength, the mighty; no one chooses him in battle in vain.
अभि त्वा वृषभा सुते सुतं सृजामि पीतये । तृम्पा व्यश्नुही मदम्
To you, the bull, at the pressing of the Soma, I pour out the pressed drink for you to enjoy; be satisfied, partake of the exhilaration.
मा त्वा मूरा अविष्यवो मोपहस्वान आ दभन् । माकीं ब्रह्मद्विषो वनः
May the foolish, the hostile, not overpower you, nor those who mock you bring you down; may not the haters of prayer subdue you.
इह त्वा गोपरीणसा महे मन्दन्तु राधसे । सरो गौरो यथा पिब
Here, with the guardians of cattle, may they delight you for great bounty; drink as a tawny one drinks at a lake.
या वृत्रहा परावति सना नवा च चुच्युवे । ता संसत्सु प्र वोचत
The deeds of the slayer of Vṛtra, both old and new, have been proclaimed afar; declare them in the gatherings.
अपिबत्कद्रुवः सुतमिन्द्रः सहस्रबाह्वे । अत्रादेदिष्ट पौंस्यम्
Indra drank the Soma pressed by Kadru, for the thousandfold strong one; there he displayed his manly power.
सत्यं तत्तुर्वशे यदौ विदानो अह्नवाय्यम् । व्यानट् तुर्वणे शमि
That is true, what he did for Turvaśa and Yadu, a deed to be remembered by day; he brought peace to Turvaṇa.
तरणिं वो जनानां त्रदं वाजस्य गोमतः । समानमु प्र शंसिषम्
I praise the swift one among people, the giver of wealth rich in cattle; I proclaim him as the same for all.
ऋभुक्षणं न वर्तव उक्थेषु तुग्र्यावृधम् । इन्द्रं सोमे सचा सुते
Like a craftsman at the sacrifices, the increaser of Tugra's strength, Indra is with Soma at the pressing.
यः कृन्तदिद्वि योन्यं त्रिशोकाय गिरिं पृथुम् । गोभ्यो गातुं निरेतवे
He who, indeed, cut through the other, the three-peaked, broad mountain, to make a path for the cows to go forth.
यद्दधिषे मनस्यसि मन्दानः प्रेदियक्षसि । मा तत्करिन्द्र मृळय
Whatever you intend, whatever you hold in mind, whether you are delighted or about to act, do not, O Indra, do that which harms us.
दभ्रं चिद्धि त्वावतः कृतं शृण्वे अधि क्षमि । जिगात्विन्द्र ते मनः
Even a small deed done by you is heard of throughout the land; may your mind, O Indra, incline to help us.
तवेदु ताः सुकीर्तयोऽसन्नुत प्रशस्तयः । यदिन्द्र मृळयासि नः
Indeed, those glorious praises and renowned deeds are yours, whenever, O Indra, you show us mercy.
मा न एकस्मिन्नागसि मा द्वयोरुत त्रिषु । वधीर्मा शूर भूरिषु
Do not, O hero, strike us for a single offense, nor for two, nor for three; do not slay us for many.
बिभया हि त्वावत उग्रादभिप्रभङ्गिणः । दस्मादहमृतीषहः
For, truly, those who oppose you, O mighty one, are afraid of your overwhelming power; I am one who endures the undying.
मा सख्युः शूनमा विदे मा पुत्रस्य प्रभूवसो । आवृत्वद्भूतु ते मनः
May we not suffer the ruin of a friend, nor the loss of a son, O lord of riches; may your mind turn back from such things.
को नु मर्या अमिथितः सखा सखायमब्रवीत् । जहा को अस्मदीषते
Who now, among men, is the steadfast friend who has spoken as a friend to a friend? Who, having abandoned, seeks to harm us?
एवारे वृषभा सुतेऽसिन्वन्भूर्यावयः । श्वघ्नीव निवता चरन्
Thus, O mighty one, at the pressing of Soma, you have acquired much wealth, moving about like a dog-killer in a hidden place.
आ त एता वचोयुजा हरी गृभ्णे सुमद्रथा । यदीं ब्रह्मभ्य इद्ददः
I take hold of these two bay steeds yoked with speech, with a beautiful chariot, when you, indeed, give to the singers.
भिन्धि विश्वा अप द्विषः परि बाधो जही मृधः । वसु स्पार्हं तदा भर
Break apart all hatreds, drive away and destroy the hostilities; bring us that desirable wealth.
यद्वीळाविन्द्र यत्स्थिरे यत्पर्शाने पराभृतम् । वसु स्पार्हं तदा भर
Whatever is lying hidden, O Indra, whether fallen or firmly placed, or concealed in a stone, bring us that desirable wealth.
यस्य ते विश्वमानुषो भूरेर्दत्तस्य वेदति । वसु स्पार्हं तदा भर
Of what you have given, O Indra, all mankind knows the abundance; bring us that desirable wealth.
त्वावतः पुरूवसो वयमिन्द्र प्रणेतः । स्मसि स्थातर्हरीणाम्
With you as our leader, O Indra, rich in gifts, we are the upholders of the steeds.
त्वां हि सत्यमद्रिवो विद्म दातारमिषाम् । विद्म दातारं रयीणाम्
For we know you, O stone-armed one, to be the true giver of sustenance, the giver of riches.
आ यस्य ते महिमानं शतमूते शतक्रतो । गीर्भिर्गृणन्ति कारवः
To whose greatness, O hundred-powered one, the poets sing with words, a hundredfold inspired.
सुनीथो घा स मर्त्यो यं मरुतो यमर्यमा । मित्रः पान्त्यद्रुहः
Truly, that mortal is well-guided whom the Maruts, Aryaman, and Mitra protect from falsehood.
