We, for the chariot of sacrifices, for the sharp-jawed, for the mighty, offer praises to Agni.
Let this singer be yours, Agni, always devoted to you; O pure one, show him mercy.

The wise, the sage, never sleeps at the feast; Agni, you shine in the sky.

O Agni, poet, from ancient harms and ancient conflicts, carry our life forward, O generous one.

To you, the strong, speech is directed; the mountains do not restrain you, O lord of riches, against him who declares enmity toward you.
And you, O generous one, listen—whoever desires, you grant that; whatever you wish to overthrow, you overthrow.
When Indra goes to battle, making battle, with his own horses—he is the best charioteer among charioteers.
Scatter all hostilities, O wielder of the bolt, drive them far away; be for us the most renowned.

Even slowly advancing, O stone-armed one, with horses and hundreds of cattle, the eager, tireless ones reach their goal.

For high for you, day by day, are thousands and hundreds of generous gifts, which are measured out for the singers.
We know you, Indra, as the winner of wealth, who breaks even the firm—like one who splits a house.
Let the bold, rich ones delight you, O wise one, wherever you are, when we seek to win the treasure from the Panis.
Whatever generous one, eager for gifts, has sought your favor—bring us knowledge of his wealth.
These, your friends, O Indra, the Soma-offerers, look upon you as nourishing, like cattle.
Even though you are deaf, O wide-hearing one, we call to you for help from afar.
If you would hear this call, and act with determination, then may you be our helper, our nearest one.
If, indeed, we have neglected you in any way as we moved about, O Indra, knower of cattle, be mindful of us.
To you, O lord of might, we have bound ourselves as a living branch to a tree; we have placed you in the seat of honor.
Sing a hymn to Indra, of manifold strength, the mighty; no one chooses him in battle in vain.
To you, the bull, at the pressing of the Soma, I pour out the pressed drink for you to enjoy; be satisfied, partake of the exhilaration.
May the foolish, the hostile, not overpower you, nor those who mock you bring you down; may not the haters of prayer subdue you.
Here, with the guardians of cattle, may they delight you for great bounty; drink as a tawny one drinks at a lake.
