तं त्वामज्मेषु वाजिनं तन्वाना अग्ने अध्वरम् । वह्निं होतारमीळते
That Agni, strong in contests, they invoke at the sacrifice, as the fire, as the priest.
पुरुत्रा हि सदृङ्ङसि विशो विश्वा अनु प्रभुः । समत्सु त्वा हवामहे
For you are indeed agreeable in many places, master of all peoples; in gatherings we call upon you.
तमीळिष्व य आहुतोऽग्निर्विभ्राजते घृतैः । इमं नः शृणवद्धवम्
Invoke him, who, when called, Agni, shines with clarified butter; may he hear this invocation of ours.
तं त्वा वयं हवामहे शृण्वन्तं जातवेदसम् । अग्ने घ्नन्तमप द्विषः
That Agni, we call upon, the all-knower, who listens; O Agni, destroy our enemies.
विशां राजानमद्भुतमध्यक्षं धर्मणामिमम् । अग्निमीळे स उ श्रवत्
I invoke Agni, the wondrous king of the peoples, the overseer of the laws; may he hear.
अग्निं विश्वायुवेपसं मर्यं न वाजिनं हितम् । सप्तिं न वाजयामसि
Agni, for all peoples, youthful, like a noble, strong, like a horse, we urge him on.
घ्नन्मृध्राण्यप द्विषो दहन्रक्षांसि विश्वहा । अग्ने तिग्मेन दीदिहि
Destroying the hostile, driving away enemies, burning the demons, slayer of all, O Agni, shine with your sharpness.
यं त्वा जनास इन्धते मनुष्वदङ्गिरस्तम । अग्ने स बोधि मे वचः
Whom the people kindle, like men, most Angiras-like, O Agni, attend to my word.
यदग्ने दिविजा अस्यप्सुजा वा सहस्कृत । तं त्वा गीर्भिर्हवामहे
O Agni, whether your power is born in heaven or in waters, we call upon you with songs.
तुभ्यं घेत्ते जना इमे विश्वाः सुक्षितयः पृथक् । धासिं हिन्वन्त्यत्तवे
To you, these people bring all their separate, well-established dwellings; they prepare offerings for your enjoyment.
ते घेदग्ने स्वाध्योऽहा विश्वा नृचक्षसः । तरन्तः स्याम दुर्गहा
Those, O Agni, who are self-reliant, who see all things, may we be among them, crossing difficult paths.
अग्निं मन्द्रं पुरुप्रियं शीरं पावकशोचिषम् । हृद्भिर्मन्द्रेभिरीमहे
We seek Agni, delightful, much-loved, strong, with pure flame, with joyful hearts.
स त्वमग्ने विभावसुः सृजन्सूर्यो न रश्मिभिः । शर्धन्तमांसि जिघ्नसे
You, Agni, shining, create like the sun with rays, you strike down hostile powers.
तत्ते सहस्व ईमहे दात्रं यन्नोपदस्यति । त्वदग्ने वार्यं वसु
For this, we seek your mighty gift, which never disappoints; from you, Agni, comes the desirable wealth.
समिधाग्निं दुवस्यत घृतैर्बोधयतातिथिम् । आस्मिन्हव्या जुहोतन
Honor Agni with kindling, awaken the guest with ghee; offer the oblations here.
अग्ने स्तोमं जुषस्व मे वर्धस्वानेन मन्मना । प्रति सूक्तानि हर्य नः
Agni, accept my praise, grow strong with this thought; delight in our hymns.
अग्निं दूतं पुरो दधे हव्यवाहमुप ब्रुवे । देवाँ आ सादयादिह
I place Agni as the messenger in front, the carrier of offerings; I invoke him to seat the gods here.
उत्ते बृहन्तो अर्चयः समिधानस्य दीदिवः । अग्ने शुक्रास ईरते
The tall flames of the kindled fire shine brightly; Agni, the brilliant ones rise up.
उप त्वा जुह्वो मम घृताचीर्यन्तु हर्यत । अग्ने हव्या जुषस्व नः
Let my ladles approach you, Agni, with ghee, eager to please; accept our offerings.
मन्द्रं होतारमृत्विजं चित्रभानुं विभावसुम् । अग्निमीळे स उ श्रवत्
I praise Agni, the delightful priest, the radiant, shining one; may he hear us.
प्रत्नं होतारमीड्यं जुष्टमग्निं कविक्रतुम् । अध्वराणामभिश्रियम्
I praise the ancient, worthy priest, beloved Agni, wise in his actions, the glory of the rituals.
जुषाणो अङ्गिरस्तमेमा हव्यान्यानुषक् । अग्ने यज्ञं नय ऋतुथा
Accepting the offerings of the Angiras, Agni, lead the sacrifice rightly.
समिधान उ सन्त्य शुक्रशोच इहा वह । चिकित्वान्दैव्यं जनम्
Kindled, shining brightly, bring here the divine people, wise one.
विप्रं होतारमद्रुहं धूमकेतुं विभावसुम् । यज्ञानां केतुमीमहे
We seek Agni, the wise, honest priest, smoke-bannered, shining, the sign of sacrifices.
अग्ने नि पाहि नस्त्वं प्रति ष्म देव रीषतः । भिन्धि द्वेषः सहस्कृत
Agni, protect us; always, O god, guard us from harm; break the hatred, mighty one.
अग्निः प्रत्नेन मन्मना शुम्भानस्तन्वं स्वाम् । कविर्विप्रेण वावृधे
Agni, with ancient thought, shining, his own form, the sage grew strong with the inspired.
ऊर्जो नपातमा हुवेऽग्निं पावकशोचिषम् । अस्मिन्यज्ञे स्वध्वरे
I call upon Agni, the son of strength, whose flame is pure and radiant, in this sacrifice, at this sacred rite.
स नो मित्रमहस्त्वमग्ने शुक्रेण शोचिषा । देवैरा सत्सि बर्हिषि
May you, Agni, mighty friend, with your bright flame, sit together with the gods upon the sacred grass.
यो अग्निं तन्वो दमे देवं मर्तः सपर्यति । तस्मा इद्दीदयद्वसु
Whoever, as a mortal, honors Agni, the divine one, within his home, for him the radiant one grants wealth.
अग्निर्मूर्धा दिवः ककुत्पतिः पृथिव्या अयम् । अपां रेतांसि जिन्वति
Agni is the crown of heaven, the lord of earth; he stirs the seeds of the waters.
