Thus I call you for help, as the wise have called before; O Nāsatyas, for the drinking of Soma, let others rejoice in the same place.
These praises are raised for Agni, the wise, the priest of the sacrifice, by the inspired poet.
To him, O Jātavedas, the discerning, your offerings are presented; Agni, I declare this excellent praise.
Like rays, O Agni, your sharp brilliance shines forth; with your teeth, you devour the woods.
The tawny, smoke-bannered ones, driven by the wind, strive upward; the flames of Agni move separately.
These flames of Agni, kindled, have appeared together, like the rays of dawn.
The dark spaces are traversed by the offspring of Jātavedas; when Agni advances on the earth.
Making nourishment, Agni devours the plants; he moves, and the reddish ones return again.
With tongues, he licks and shines with his flame, making a rattling sound; Agni glows in the woods.
In the waters, O Agni, you are established; you restrain the healing herbs. In the womb, you are born again.
O Agni, from your clarified butter, that flame shines forth, when the offering is placed; the tongues extend at your mouth.
For the one who gives milk-food, for the one who gives meat-food, for the wise one with Soma on his back, with hymns we serve Agni.
And you, with reverence, we approach, O Agni, priest of noble action, with kindling sticks.
And you, pure as the Bhṛgu, O Agni, invoked by men, we call as the Angiras.
For you, Agni, with Agni, the sage joins with the sage; friend with friend, you are kindled.
So you, for the sage who serves, grant wealth in thousands, O Agni, and food rich in heroes.
Agni, brother, mighty, with red horses, pure in vow, accept this hymn of mine.
And you, Agni, praised by me, are brought forth for the powerful; like cows in the cattle-yard, they assemble.
To you, most Angiras-like, all prosperous dwellings separately, O Agni, have been offered for desire.
Agni, the wise, the intelligent, the thoughtful, with insight, have been stirred for the seat of the offering.
That Agni, strong in contests, they invoke at the sacrifice, as the fire, as the priest.
For you are indeed agreeable in many places, master of all peoples; in gatherings we call upon you.
Invoke him, who, when called, Agni, shines with clarified butter; may he hear this invocation of ours.
That Agni, we call upon, the all-knower, who listens; O Agni, destroy our enemies.
I invoke Agni, the wondrous king of the peoples, the overseer of the laws; may he hear.
Agni, for all peoples, youthful, like a noble, strong, like a horse, we urge him on.
Destroying the hostile, driving away enemies, burning the demons, slayer of all, O Agni, shine with your sharpness.
Whom the people kindle, like men, most Angiras-like, O Agni, attend to my word.
O Agni, whether your power is born in heaven or in waters, we call upon you with songs.
To you, these people bring all their separate, well-established dwellings; they prepare offerings for your enjoyment.
