यो अग्निः सप्तमानुषः श्रितो विश्वेषु सिन्धुषु । तमागन्म त्रिपस्त्यं मन्धातुर्दस्युहन्तममग्निं यज्ञेषु पूर्व्यं नभन्तामन्यके समे
That Agni, seventh among men, established among all the rivers; we have come to him, the threefold, the destroyer of foes, the ancient Agni, foremost in sacrifices, let others be silent in the same place.
अग्निस्त्रीणि त्रिधातून्या क्षेति विदथा कविः । स त्रीँरेकादशाँ इह यक्षच्च पिप्रयच्च नो विप्रो दूतः परिष्कृतो नभन्तामन्यके समे
Agni abides in three triple places, the sage in the assemblies; here he worships and gladdens us, the inspired priest, well adorned as messenger, let others be silent in the same place.
त्वं नो अग्न आयुषु त्वं देवेषु पूर्व्य वस्व एक इरज्यसि । त्वामापः परिस्रुतः परि यन्ति स्वसेतवो नभन्तामन्यके समे
You, Agni, are for us in life, you are ancient among the gods, the only one who rules over wealth; the flowing waters approach you, their own lord, let others be silent in the same place.
इन्द्राग्नी युवं सु नः सहन्ता दासथो रयिम् । येन दृळ्हा समत्स्वा वीळु चित्साहिषीमह्यग्निर्वनेव वात इन्नभन्तामन्यके समे
Indra and Agni, may you both be strong for us, may you grant us wealth; by which, in battles, we may overcome even the firm ones, as Agni conquers the forest, and as the wind, let others be silent in the same place.
नहि वां वव्रयामहेऽथेन्द्रमिद्यजामहे शविष्ठं नृणां नरम् । स नः कदा चिदर्वता गमदा वाजसातये गमदा मेधसातये नभन्तामन्यके समे
Truly, we have not chosen any other but you; now we invoke Indra, the most powerful among men. May he come to us at any time with his team, may he come for the winning of strength, may he come for the gaining of wisdom; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
ता हि मध्यं भराणामिन्द्राग्नी अधिक्षितः । ता उ कवित्वना कवी पृच्छ्यमाना सखीयते सं धीतमश्नुतं नरा नभन्तामन्यके समे
For you, O Indra and Agni, are the masters among those who bear offerings; you, with your wisdom, are wise, and when questioned, you are friendly; together, O men, may you attain the hymn; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
अभ्यर्च नभाकवदिन्द्राग्नी यजसा गिरा । ययोर्विश्वमिदं जगदियं द्यौः पृथिवी मह्युपस्थे बिभृतो वसु नभन्तामन्यके समे
Worship, as did Nabhāka, Indra and Agni with sacrifice and song; by whom this entire world, this heaven and earth, is upheld with wealth in their great lap; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
प्र ब्रह्माणि नभाकवदिन्द्राग्निभ्यामिरज्यत । या सप्तबुध्नमर्णवं जिह्मबारमपोर्णुत इन्द्र ईशान ओजसा नभन्तामन्यके समे
Let the hymns, as with Nabhāka, be directed to Indra and Agni; who, with seven streams, cleared the crooked barrier, filled the ocean, Indra ruling with might; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
अपि वृश्च पुराणवद्व्रततेरिव गुष्पितमोजो दासस्य दम्भय । वयं तदस्य सम्भृतं वस्विन्द्रेण वि भजेमहि नभन्तामन्यके समे
Even now, as before, cut down the strength of the enemy, as in ancient times, O mighty ones, confound the foe; may we, with Indra, share the gathered wealth; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
यदिन्द्राग्नी जना इमे विह्वयन्ते तना गिरा । अस्माकेभिर्नृभिर्वयं सासह्याम पृतन्यतो वनुयाम वनुष्यतो नभन्तामन्यके समे
Whenever, O Indra and Agni, these people challenge us with their words, may we, with our men, overcome in battle, may we conquer the hostile; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
या नु श्वेताववो दिव उच्चरात उप द्युभिः । इन्द्राग्न्योरनु व्रतमुहाना यन्ति सिन्धवो यान्त्सीं बन्धादमुञ्चतां नभन्तामन्यके समे
Those two bright ones of yours, rising in the sky, come with the days; following the ordinance of Indra and Agni, the rivers flow, and you release their bonds; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
पूर्वीष्ट इन्द्रोपमातयः पूर्वीरुत प्रशस्तयः सूनो हिन्वस्य हरिवः । वस्वो वीरस्यापृचो या नु साधन्त नो धियो नभन्तामन्यके समे
Many are the likenesses of Indra, many indeed the praises, O son of the charger, O golden one; the gifts of the heroic, generous one, whatever they accomplish for us, may they strengthen our thoughts; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
तं शिशीता सुवृक्तिभिस्त्वेषं सत्वानमृग्मियम् । उतो नु चिद्य ओजसा शुष्णस्याण्डानि भेदति जेषत्स्वर्वतीरपो नभन्तामन्यके समे
Strengthen him with fair praises, the mighty, heroic, swift one; even now, by his power, he shatters the strongholds of Shushna, he conquers, and the waters rich in sunlight flow; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
तं शिशीता स्वध्वरं सत्यं सत्वानमृत्वियम् । उतो नु चिद्य ओहत आण्डा शुष्णस्य भेदत्यजैः स्वर्वतीरपो नभन्तामन्यके समे
Strengthen him, the true, the mighty, the proper sacrificer; even now, by his might, he shatters the strongholds of Shushna, he conquers, and the waters rich in sunlight flow; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
एवेन्द्राग्निभ्यां पितृवन्नवीयो मन्धातृवदङ्गिरस्वदवाचि । त्रिधातुना शर्मणा पातमस्मान्वयं स्याम पतयो रयीणाम्
Thus, with Indra and Agni, as did our fathers, as Mandhātṛ, as the Angirases, may you protect us with triple shelter; may we become lords of riches.
अस्मा ऊ षु प्रभूतये वरुणाय मरुद्भ्योऽर्चा विदुष्टरेभ्यः । यो धीता मानुषाणां पश्वो गा इव रक्षति नभन्तामन्यके समे
Now, for abundance, let us praise Varuṇa and the Maruts, with song, for those who know, for those who are most excellent; who, as the thought of men, guards the cattle as a herdsman; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
तमू षु समना गिरा पितॄणां च मन्मभिः । नाभाकस्य प्रशस्तिभिर्यः सिन्धूनामुपोदये सप्तस्वसा स मध्यमो नभन्तामन्यके समे
Let us with united voice and with the thoughts of the fathers praise him, with the praises of Nabhāka; he who, at the coming of the rivers, is the middle one among the seven sisters; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
स क्षपः परि षस्वजे न्युस्रो मायया दधे स विश्वं परि दर्शतः । तस्य वेनीरनु व्रतमुषस्तिस्रो अवर्धयन्नभन्तामन्यके समे
He has encompassed the nights, he has set the dawns in their place by his power, he has established all things to be seen; the three dawns, following his ordinance, have grown; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
यः ककुभो निधारयः पृथिव्यामधि दर्शतः । स माता पूर्व्यं पदं तद्वरुणस्य सप्त्यं स हि गोपा इवेर्यो नभन्तामन्यके समे
He who has fixed the supports, the pillars of the earth, to be seen; he, the mother’s ancient step, that is Varuṇa’s path, for he is the herdsman, as it were, who guards; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
यो धर्ता भुवनानां य उस्राणामपीच्या वेद नामानि गुह्या । स कविः काव्या पुरु रूपं द्यौरिव पुष्यति नभन्तामन्यके समे
He who upholds the worlds, who knows the hidden names of the bright ones; he, the sage, fosters many forms, like the sky; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
यस्मिन्विश्वानि काव्या चक्रे नाभिरिव श्रिता । त्रितं जूती सपर्यत व्रजे गावो न संयुजे युजे अश्वाँ अयुक्षत नभन्तामन्यके समे
In whom all works are established, as on a nave; Trita, as a charioteer, has worshipped him; in the enclosure, the cows are yoked, the horses are harnessed; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
य आस्वत्क आशये विश्वा जातान्येषाम् । परि धामानि मर्मृशद्वरुणस्य पुरो गये विश्वे देवा अनु व्रतं नभन्तामन्यके समे
He who, in his own abode, surveys all the creatures of these; who measures the dwellings of Varuṇa, who goes before the cities; all the gods follow his ordinance; let others not hinder us in the assembly.
स समुद्रो अपीच्यस्तुरो द्यामिव रोहति नि यदासु यजुर्दधे । स माया अर्चिना पदास्तृणान्नाकमारुहन्नभन्तामन्यके समे
He, like the ocean, flows downward, rising as if to the sky, when the sacrificial formula is established among them. With radiant steps of illusion, he ascends the heaven; let others rejoice in the same place.
यस्य श्वेता विचक्षणा तिस्रो भूमीरधिक्षितः । त्रिरुत्तराणि पप्रतुर्वरुणस्य ध्रुवं सदः स सप्तानामिरज्यति नभन्तामन्यके समे
Whose three white, perceptive realms are governed, three times they have traversed the fixed abode of Varuṇa; he rejoices among the seven, let others rejoice in the same place.
यः श्वेताँ अधिनिर्णिजश्चक्रे कृष्णाँ अनु व्रता । स धाम पूर्व्यं ममे य स्कम्भेन वि रोदसी अजो न द्यामधारयन्नभन्तामन्यके समे
He who made the white ones pure, who follows the black ones according to the order, he claims the ancient domain; with his pillar, he supports both worlds, like the unborn one sustaining the sky; let others rejoice in the same place.
अस्तभ्नाद्द्यामसुरो विश्ववेदा अमिमीत वरिमाणं पृथिव्याः । आसीदद्विश्वा भुवनानि सम्राड्विश्वेत्तानि वरुणस्य व्रतानि
The mighty one, knower of all, has upheld the sky, measured the expanse of the earth. The sovereign sat, all worlds assembled; all these are the ordinances of Varuṇa.
एवा वन्दस्व वरुणं बृहन्तं नमस्या धीरममृतस्य गोपाम् । स नः शर्म त्रिवरूथं वि यंसत्पातं नो द्यावापृथिवी उपस्थे
Thus honor Varuṇa, the exalted, revere the wise guardian of immortality. May he grant us triple-shielded protection; may Heaven and Earth guard us in their embrace.
इमां धियं शिक्षमाणस्य देव क्रतुं दक्षं वरुण सं शिशाधि । ययाति विश्वा दुरिता तरेम सुतर्माणमधि नावं रुहेम
O Varuṇa, instill in me wisdom, resolve, and skill as I seek understanding. Through these, may we cross all misfortunes; let us ascend the well-constructed boat.
आ वां ग्रावाणो अश्विना धीभिर्विप्रा अचुच्यवुः । नासत्या सोमपीतये नभन्तामन्यके समे
The stones, O Aśvins, have called you forth with prayers, O wise ones. O Nāsatyas, for the drinking of Soma, let others rejoice in the same place.
यथा वामत्रिरश्विना गीर्भिर्विप्रो अजोहवीत् । नासत्या सोमपीतये नभन्तामन्यके समे
Just as the priest called you, Aśvins, with songs, O Nāsatyas, for the drinking of Soma, let others rejoice in the same place.
