He who is the great protector of riches, the sure helper, the friend of the one who presses Soma—sing to that Indra.
To the mighty, steadfast helper who comes, famed in battles, the lord of great strength—sing with praise.
No one restrains his powers, no one his generous words; no one can say or give as he does.
There is truly no neglect of the prayers of the priests, nor of those who press Soma; Soma is never wasted.
Sing forth what is praiseworthy, declare praiseworthy hymns; perform the sacred rite with what is praiseworthy.
May what is praiseworthy come to you in abundance, with thousands, protected by strength; Indra, who increases the worshipper.
Move freely according to your own will among the peoples, as we have called you; Indra, drink of the pressed Soma.
Drink with your own power, O Indra, of the Soma pressed for you, and also that which is pressed with strength; and also that which is yours, O Indra.
Come with eager spirit to the pressed Soma at the offering; drink this gift, this Soma, which has been prepared.
Come to these three gatherings, come to the five peoples; the cows, O Indra, have called out to you.
As the sun releases its ray, so let my songs reach you; like waters flowing together to a common depth.
O officiant, pour out the Soma for the heroic, tawny-armed one; bring the pressed Soma for his drinking.
He who split the enclosing cloud of the waters, who released the rivers, who held the cooked (milk) among the cows.
He slew Vṛtra, the cloud-like, oceanic, mighty archer; with ice he struck down Arbuda.
Sing the sacred hymn for the mighty, irresistible, fierce, victorious one.
He who, in the intoxication of Soma, surpasses all ordinances; Indra is mindful among the gods.
Here are those two companions at the feast, the tawny-haired steeds, who bring the offering at your command.
Your two steeds, praised by Priyamedhas, bring you near, O much-lauded one, for the drinking of Soma.
We, having pressed Soma, sit around you like waters around a well-covered altar; at the outpourings of the filter, O slayer of Vṛtra, your singers are assembled.
Men sing to you at the pressing, O treasure-giver, with one voice, with hymns; when will you, longing for the pressed Soma, come to our home, Indra, like a bellowing bull to the herd?
With the Kanvas, O bold one, you see the bannered, the thousand-gifted, the tawny-hued, O generous one, O leader of men; swiftly we seek the one rich in cows.
Drink, O Indra, the exhilarating Soma, O honored guest, which is mixed for you, which is pressed together with the two bays, which is accompanied by the thunderbolt, and the golden chariot.
He who is well-praised, of good right hand, he who is wise, I praise; he who is a source of thousands, of hundreds of gifts, Indra, who has shattered the forts.
He who is bold, unconquered, who is established among the bearded ones; of manifold splendor, moving, much-lauded, by his will, like a bull among cows.
Who indeed knows him, who, accompanied by the pressed Soma, drinks—whom did the two mothers establish? This one, who with his strength shatters the fortresses, delighting in the pressed, foaming Soma.
Like a wild beast, or an elephant, you have set your course in many places. No one restrains you at the Soma pressing; with your great power you move freely.
He who is fierce, unassailable, steadfast, prepared for battle—if, O generous one, you hear the prayer of the singer, let not Indra go to a woman’s embrace.
Truly, thus you are a bull, with the vigor of a bull, unrestrained. O mighty one, you hear from afar, and you are renowned nearby.
Your whips are vigorous, your golden goad is vigorous, your chariot is vigorous, O generous one, your steeds are vigorous, and you, O hundred-powered, are vigorous.
Let the vigorous streams pour for you, let the vigorous one bring the Soma. The vigorous one has placed vigor in the rivers for you, the leader of the steeds.
