ते नो नावमुरुष्यत दिवा नक्तं सुदानवः । अरिष्यन्तो नि पायुभिः सचेमहि
May those generous ones carry us safely, like a ship, by day and by night; unharmed, may we be united with their protection.
अघ्नते विष्णवे वयमरिष्यन्तः सुदानवे । श्रुधि स्वयावन्सिन्धो पूर्वचित्तये
We, unharmed, seek for Viṣṇu, the generous one; hear us, O self-moving Sindhu, for our former intent.
तद्वार्यं वृणीमहे वरिष्ठं गोपयत्यम् । मित्रो यत्पान्ति वरुणो यदर्यमा
We choose that excellent and most desirable protection, which Mitra, Varuṇa, and Aryaman guard.
उत नः सिन्धुरपां तन्मरुतस्तदश्विना । इन्द्रो विष्णुर्मीढ्वांसः सजोषसः
May the Sindhu, the waters, the Maruts, the Aśvins, Indra, and Viṣṇu, all united and gracious, protect us.
ते हि ष्मा वनुषो नरोऽभिमातिं कयस्य चित् । तिग्मं न क्षोदः प्रतिघ्नन्ति भूर्णयः
For they, indeed, O men, repel the attack of any foe; like a sharp wave, the mighty ones drive back the assailants.
अयमेक इत्था पुरूरु चष्टे वि विश्पतिः । तस्य व्रतान्यनु वश्चरामसि
This one alone, thus, the lord of all, sees far and wide; we move according to his ordinances.
अनु पूर्वाण्योक्या साम्राज्यस्य सश्चिम । मित्रस्य व्रता वरुणस्य दीर्घश्रुत्
Following the ancient words of sovereignty, we pursue the ordinances of Mitra and the far-heard Varuṇa.
परि यो रश्मिना दिवोऽन्तान्ममे पृथिव्याः । उभे आ पप्रौ रोदसी महित्वा
He who measured out the ends of heaven with his ray, from the earth—he filled both heaven and earth with his greatness.
उदु ष्य शरणे दिवो ज्योतिरयंस्त सूर्यः । अग्निर्न शुक्रः समिधान आहुतः
The light has risen in the shelter of heaven; that is the Sun, radiant like fire, kindled and shining brightly.
वचो दीर्घप्रसद्मनीशे वाजस्य गोमतः । ईशे हि पित्वोऽविषस्य दावने
He is master of speech, of vast and clear expression, and of wealth abundant in cattle; indeed, he is lord of nourishment and of the pasture for grazing.
तत्सूर्यं रोदसी उभे दोषा वस्तोरुप ब्रुवे । भोजेष्वस्माँ अभ्युच्चरा सदा
That Sun, I invoke both earth and heaven at dawn and dusk for his dwelling; may he always rise among us with bounty.
ऋज्रमुक्षण्यायने रजतं हरयाणे । रथं युक्तमसनाम सुषामणि
With swift-moving steeds on the path, with shining horses, I praise the chariot that is yoked and adorned with beautiful ornaments.
ता मे अश्व्यानां हरीणां नितोशना । उतो नु कृत्व्यानां नृवाहसा
Those are the swift ones among my horses, the shining ones; and also the deeds accomplished by men in their assemblies.
स्मदभीशू कशावन्ता विप्रा नविष्ठया मती । महो वाजिनावर्वन्ता सचासनम्
With reins and whips, the inspired sages, with newest thought, together with mighty, swift steeds, join in the seat of assembly.
युवोरु षू रथं हुवे सधस्तुत्याय सूरिषु । अतूर्तदक्षा वृषणा वृषण्वसू
I call upon your chariot, O youthful ones, for praise among the noble; you are powerful, unwearied, and possess abundant wealth.
युवं वरो सुषाम्णे महे तने नासत्या । अवोभिर्याथो वृषणा वृषण्वसू
You grant favor for the beautiful, for the great family, O Nāsatyas; with your help you come, powerful and wealthy.
ता वामद्य हवामहे हव्येभिर्वाजिनीवसू । पूर्वीरिष इषयन्तावति क्षपः
Today we invoke you with offerings, O givers of horses and wealth; you bestow many gifts and protect the nights.
आ वां वाहिष्ठो अश्विना रथो यातु श्रुतो नरा । उप स्तोमान्तुरस्य दर्शथः श्रिये
Let your most excellent chariot, O Ashvins, come, renowned heroes; may you approach our praises, visible for glory.
जुहुराणा चिदश्विना मन्येथां वृषण्वसू । युवं हि रुद्रा पर्षथो अति द्विषः
Even when called upon, O Ashvins, you consider us, givers of wealth; indeed, O Rudras, you lead us beyond hostility.
दस्रा हि विश्वमानुषङ्मक्षूभिः परिदीयथः । धियंजिन्वा मधुवर्णा शुभस्पती
O wondrous ones, you swiftly traverse all mankind with your movements; you inspire thought, honey-colored, lords of beauty.
उप नो यातमश्विना राया विश्वपुषा सह । मघवाना सुवीरावनपच्युता
Come to us, O Ashvins, with wealth, with all prosperity and strength; O generous ones, with heroic and unfailing gifts.
आ मे अस्य प्रतीव्यमिन्द्रनासत्या गतम् । देवा देवेभिरद्य सचनस्तमा
Come to me, Indra and Nāsatyas, to this offering; O gods, today, join together with the other gods.
वयं हि वां हवामह उक्षण्यन्तो व्यश्ववत् । सुमतिभिरुप विप्राविहा गतम्
We indeed invoke you, offering libations, with horses and cattle; come to us, O wise ones, with your favor and blessings.
अश्विना स्वृषे स्तुहि कुवित्ते श्रवतो हवम् । नेदीयसः कूळयातः पणीँरुत
Praise the Ashvins, the mighty ones; call them for fame and offering; come near, O swift ones, drive away the tricksters.
वैयश्वस्य श्रुतं नरोतो मे अस्य वेदथः । सजोषसा वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा
You have heard of Vaiyaśva, O heroes, and you know of him; Varuna, Mitra, and Aryaman are united with him.
युवादत्तस्य धिष्ण्या युवानीतस्य सूरिभिः । अहरहर्वृषण मह्यं शिक्षतम्
With your gifts, O divine ones, and with your guidance among the noble, day by day, O mighty ones, teach me.
यो वां यज्ञेभिरावृतोऽधिवस्त्रा वधूरिव । सपर्यन्ता शुभे चक्राते अश्विना
He who, surrounded by your sacrifices, like a bride adorned, serves you, O Ashvins, has fashioned beauty.
यो वामुरुव्यचस्तमं चिकेतति नृपाय्यम् । वर्तिरश्विना परि यातमस्मयू
He who discerns your vast and most generous favor, seeking the path of nobility, O Ashvins, let your chariot circle around him.
अस्मभ्यं सु वृषण्वसू यातं वर्तिर्नृपाय्यम् । विषुद्रुहेव यज्ञमूहथुर्गिरा
Bring to us, O mighty Ashvins, your abundant wealth and the noble path; with your words, drive away the obstacles from our sacrifice.
वाहिष्ठो वां हवानां स्तोमो दूतो हुवन्नरा । युवाभ्यां भूत्वश्विना
The most excellent praise of offerings calls you as messengers, O Ashvins; become present with us.
