यस्य द्विबर्हसो बृहत्सहो दाधार रोदसी । गिरीँरज्राँ अपः स्वर्वृषत्वना
He, of double strength, of great might, upholds heaven and earth; with his power he split the mountains and released the waters.
स राजसि पुरुष्टुतँ एको वृत्राणि जिघ्नसे । इन्द्र जैत्रा श्रवस्या च यन्तवे
You alone, much-praised, rule as king; Indra, you slay the foes, victorious and famed for guidance.
तं ते मदं गृणीमसि वृषणं पृत्सु सासहिम् । उ लोककृत्नुमद्रिवो हरिश्रियम्
That exhilaration of yours we praise, strong and victorious in battles, world-creating, O thunderer, radiant in glory.
येन ज्योतींष्यायवे मनवे च विवेदिथ । मन्दानो अस्य बर्हिषो वि राजसि
With which you discovered lights for Ayu and Manu; delighted, you shine forth upon his sacred grass.
तदद्या चित्त उक्थिनोऽनु ष्टुवन्ति पूर्वथा । वृषपत्नीरपो जया दिवेदिवे
So today, O thoughtful ones, singers praise that which was praised before; the wives of the mighty one, the victorious waters, day by day.
तव त्यदिन्द्रियं बृहत्तव शुष्ममुत क्रतुम् । वज्रं शिशाति धिषणा वरेण्यम्
Yours, Indra, is that great power, yours the strength and wisdom; the mind sharpens the desirable thunderbolt.
तव द्यौरिन्द्र पौंस्यं पृथिवी वर्धति श्रवः । त्वामापः पर्वतासश्च हिन्विरे
For you, Indra, the sky increases manliness, the earth increases fame; the waters and the mountains urge you on.
त्वां विष्णुर्बृहन्क्षयो मित्रो गृणाति वरुणः । त्वां शर्धो मदत्यनु मारुतम्
You, Vishnu of vast abode, Mitra, and Varuna praise; your host rejoices after the Maruts.
त्वं वृषा जनानां मंहिष्ठ इन्द्र जज्ञिषे । सत्रा विश्वा स्वपत्यानि दधिषे
You, Indra, bull among people, were born most mighty; you have taken up all lordships together.
सत्रा त्वं पुरुष्टुतँ एको वृत्राणि तोशसे । नान्य इन्द्रात्करणं भूय इन्वति
You alone, much-praised one, accomplish all the obstacles; no one else but Indra achieves a greater deed.
यदिन्द्र मन्मशस्त्वा नाना हवन्त ऊतये । अस्माकेभिर्नृभिरत्रा स्वर्जय
Whenever, Indra, those who compose hymns call upon you for help, win the light here for us with our men.
अरं क्षयाय नो महे विश्वा रूपाण्याविशन् । इन्द्रं जैत्राय हर्षया शचीपतिम्
For our great dwelling, may all forms enter; gladden Indra for victory, the lord of might.
प्र सम्राजं चर्षणीनामिन्द्रं स्तोता नव्यं गीर्भिः । नरं नृषाहं मंहिष्ठम्
With new songs, let the singer praise Indra, the king of peoples, the manly hero, the most mighty.
यस्मिन्नुक्थानि रण्यन्ति विश्वानि च श्रवस्या । अपामवो न समुद्रे
In whom the hymns delight, and all things worthy of praise, like waters flowing into the sea.
तं सुष्टुत्या विवासे ज्येष्ठराजं भरे कृत्नुम् । महो वाजिनं सनिभ्यः
Him I summon with excellent praise, the eldest king in the contest, the mighty giver of prizes to companions.
यस्यानूना गभीरा मदा उरवस्तरुत्राः । हर्षुमन्तः शूरसातौ
Whose deep, unfailing exhilarations are broad and ever fresh; full of joy in the hero's bounty.
तमिद्धनेषु हितेष्वधिवाकाय हवन्ते । येषामिन्द्रस्ते जयन्ति
Him, in the kindled fires, in the chosen places, they call with speech; those for whom you, Indra, bring victory.
तमिच्च्यौत्नैरार्यन्ति तं कृतेभिश्चर्षणयः । एष इन्द्रो वरिवस्कृत्
Him, too, the youthful ones approach, him the peoples with their deeds; this is Indra, maker of wide space.
इन्द्रो ब्रह्मेन्द्र ऋषिरिन्द्रः पुरू पुरुहूतः । महान्महीभिः शचीभिः
Indra is the priestly power, Indra the seer, Indra much-invoked; great, with mighty powers.
स स्तोम्यः स हव्यः सत्यः सत्वा तुविकूर्मिः । एकश्चित्सन्नभिभूतिः
He is to be praised, to be invoked, true in being, of mighty strength; though one, he surpasses all.
तमर्केभिस्तं सामभिस्तं गायत्रैश्चर्षणयः । इन्द्रं वर्धन्ति क्षितयः
With praises, with chants, with songs, the peoples magnify Indra.
प्रणेतारं वस्यो अच्छा कर्तारं ज्योतिः समत्सु । सासह्वांसं युधामित्रान्
The leader to wealth, the bringer of light in battles, the one who overcomes foes in combat.
स नः पप्रिः पारयाति स्वस्ति नावा पुरुहूतः । इन्द्रो विश्वा अति द्विषः
May Indra, much-invoked, who has protected us, carry us safely across all dangers, like a boat, to well-being.
स त्वं न इन्द्र वाजेभिर्दशस्या च गातुया च । अच्छा च नः सुम्नं नेषि
So you, Indra, grant us favor with your gifts and with the path to prosperity; bring us your goodwill.
आ याहि सुषुमा हि त इन्द्र सोमं पिबा इमम् । एदं बर्हिः सदो मम
Come here, Indra, for you are truly delighted; drink this Soma; this sacred seat is prepared for you.
आ त्वा ब्रह्मयुजा हरी वहतामिन्द्र केशिना । उप ब्रह्माणि नः शृणु
Let your two long-haired steeds, yoked by prayer, bring you here, Indra; listen to our hymns.
ब्रह्माणस्त्वा वयं युजा सोमपामिन्द्र सोमिनः । सुतावन्तो हवामहे
We, the Soma-pressers, call you, Indra, with prayer, as those who have prepared the Soma.
आ नो याहि सुतावतोऽस्माकं सुष्टुतीरुप । पिबा सु शिप्रिन्नन्धसः
Come to us who have pressed the Soma, approach our well-praised offering; drink, O fair-jawed one, of the sweet drink.
आ ते सिञ्चामि कुक्ष्योरनु गात्रा वि धावतु । गृभाय जिह्वया मधु
I pour for you into your bellies; let it flow over your limbs; seize the sweetness with your tongue.
स्वादुष्टे अस्तु संसुदे मधुमान्तन्वे तव । सोमः शमस्तु ते हृदे
Let the Soma, pressed and sweet, full of honey, be pleasant for your body; may it bring peace to your heart.
