स्तुहि श्रुतं विपश्चितं हरी यस्य प्रसक्षिणा । गन्तारा दाशुषो गृहं नमस्विनः
Praise him who is famed and wise, whose two steeds are ever victorious, who comes to the worshipper’s house, honored with reverence.
तूतुजानो महेमतेऽश्वेभिः प्रुषितप्सुभिः । आ याहि यज्ञमाशुभिः शमिद्धि ते
Eager for great wealth, come with your horses, with those who scatter the waters; come swiftly to the sacrifice—may it be pleasing to you.
इन्द्र शविष्ठ सत्पते रयिं गृणत्सु धारय । श्रवः सूरिभ्यो अमृतं वसुत्वनम्
Indra, most powerful, lord of the good, support wealth for those who praise; grant the immortal fame and riches to the noble ones.
हवे त्वा सूर उदिते हवे मध्यंदिने दिवः । जुषाण इन्द्र सप्तिभिर्न आ गहि
At sunrise I call to you, at midday I call to you, O Indra; accepting, come to us with your team of horses.
आ तू गहि प्र तु द्रव मत्स्वा सुतस्य गोमतः । तन्तुं तनुष्व पूर्व्यं यथा विदे
Come here, hasten forward, delight in the pressed Soma rich in cows; weave the ancient thread as you know how.
यच्छक्रासि परावति यदर्वावति वृत्रहन् । यद्वा समुद्रे अन्धसोऽवितेदसि
Whatever you do, O slayer of Vṛtra, whether far or near, or even in the sea, you are the protector of the Soma draught.
इन्द्रं वर्धन्तु नो गिर इन्द्रं सुतास इन्दवः । इन्द्रे हविष्मतीर्विशो अराणिषुः
May our songs strengthen Indra, may the pressed Somas strengthen Indra; may the worshipful hosts kindle Indra at the offerings.
तमिद्विप्रा अवस्यवः प्रवत्वतीभिरूतिभिः । इन्द्रं क्षोणीरवर्धयन्वया इव
The inspired ones, seeking help, have magnified Indra with their flowing praises; the earths have made Indra grow, as mothers their sons.
त्रिकद्रुकेषु चेतनं देवासो यज्ञमत्नत । तमिद्वर्धन्तु नो गिरः सदावृधम्
The gods have toiled for awareness in the threefold pressing; let our hymns increase him, ever-growing.
स्तोता यत्ते अनुव्रत उक्थान्यृतुथा दधे । शुचिः पावक उच्यते सो अद्भुतः
The praiser, faithful to you, has composed hymns in due order; pure and radiant, he is called wondrous.
तदिद्रुद्रस्य चेतति यह्वं प्रत्नेषु धामसु । मनो यत्रा वि तद्दधुर्विचेतसः
That awareness of Rudra stirs, the mighty one, in ancient abodes; where the mind, discerning, has been placed.
यदि मे सख्यमावर इमस्य पाह्यन्धसः । येन विश्वा अति द्विषो अतारिम
If you grant me friendship, protect me from this drink; by which we have overcome all hatred.
कदा त इन्द्र गिर्वण स्तोता भवाति शंतमः । कदा नो गव्ये अश्व्ये वसौ दधः
When, O Indra, speaker of praise, will the praiser become most blessed? When will you grant us wealth in cattle and horses?
उत ते सुष्टुता हरी वृषणा वहतो रथम् । अजुर्यस्य मदिन्तमं यमीमहे
And your well-praised, mighty steeds draw the chariot; of the undying, most exhilarating one, whom we invoke.
तमीमहे पुरुष्टुतं यह्वं प्रत्नाभिरूतिभिः । नि बर्हिषि प्रिये सददध द्विता
We invoke the much-praised, mighty one with ancient aids; let him sit twice on the beloved sacrificial grass.
वर्धस्वा सु पुरुष्टुत ऋषिष्टुताभिरूतिभिः । धुक्षस्व पिप्युषीमिषमवा च नः
Grow strong, O much-praised, with the aids of the sages; pour forth nourishing food and help us.
इन्द्र त्वमवितेदसीत्था स्तुवतो अद्रिवः । ऋतादियर्मि ते धियं मनोयुजम्
Indra, you have become the helper of the one who praises, O stone-bearer; I direct to you a thought yoked to the mind, proceeding from truth.
इह त्या सधमाद्या युजानः सोमपीतये । हरी इन्द्र प्रतद्वसू अभि स्वर
Here, those who share the feast, yoked for the drinking of Soma, O Indra, let your steeds bring forth the wealth.
अभि स्वरन्तु ये तव रुद्रासः सक्षत श्रियम् । उतो मरुत्वतीर्विशो अभि प्रयः
Let those who are your Rudras bring forth glory; and let the Marut-hosts bring forth abundance.
इमा अस्य प्रतूर्तयः पदं जुषन्त यद्दिवि । नाभा यज्ञस्य सं दधुर्यथा विदे
These his achievements delight in his path in heaven; at the navel of the sacrifice, they unite as is known.
अयं दीर्घाय चक्षसे प्राचि प्रयत्यध्वरे । मिमीते यज्ञमानुषग्विचक्ष्य
This one, for far-seeing vision, moves forward at the ritual; he measures the sacrifice, discerning among men.
वृषायमिन्द्र ते रथ उतो ते वृषणा हरी । वृषा त्वं शतक्रतो वृषा हवः
Mighty is your chariot, Indra, and mighty are your steeds; mighty are you, hundred-powered, mighty is the invocation.
वृषा ग्रावा वृषा मदो वृषा सोमो अयं सुतः । वृषा यज्ञो यमिन्वसि वृषा हवः
Mighty is the stone, mighty is the exhilaration, mighty is this pressed Soma; mighty is the sacrifice you restrain, mighty is the invocation.
वृषा त्वा वृषणं हुवे वज्रिञ्चित्राभिरूतिभिः । वावन्थ हि प्रतिष्टुतिं वृषा हवः
Mighty, I call you, mighty one, wielder of the bolt, with splendid aids; for you indeed accept the praise, mighty is the invocation.
यदिन्द्राहं यथा त्वमीशीय वस्व एक इत् । स्तोता मे गोषखा स्यात्
If I, Indra, were powerful as you, sole lord of wealth, my praiser would be renowned for cattle.
शिक्षेयमस्मै दित्सेयं शचीपते मनीषिणे । यदहं गोपतिः स्याम्
I would instruct him, I would give to him, O lord of power, to the wise; if I were the lord of cattle.
धेनुष्ट इन्द्र सूनृता यजमानाय सुन्वते । गामश्वं पिप्युषी दुहे
O Indra, the bountiful cow of sweet speech, when pressed for the worshipper, yields milk—abundant in cattle and horses.
न ते वर्तास्ति राधस इन्द्र देवो न मर्त्यः । यद्दित्ससि स्तुतो मघम्
There is no limit to your generosity, Indra; neither god nor mortal matches you when, praised, you grant wealth.
यज्ञ इन्द्रमवर्धयद्यद्भूमिं व्यवर्तयत् । चक्राण ओपशं दिवि
Sacrifice strengthened Indra when he set the earth apart and established the supports in the sky.
वावृधानस्य ते वयं विश्वा धनानि जिग्युषः । ऊतिमिन्द्रा वृणीमहे
Of you, ever-growing, we seek all the riches of the conqueror; Indra, we choose your aid.
