त्वामिद्वृत्रहन्तम जनासो वृक्तबर्हिषः । हवन्ते वाजसातये
You, slayer of Vṛtra, are called by people who spread the sacred grass, to win strength and prize.
अनु त्वा रोदसी उभे चक्रं न वर्त्येतशम् । अनु सुवानास इन्दवः
Both heaven and earth follow you, as a wheel follows its axle; the flowing Somas pursue you.
मन्दस्वा सु स्वर्णर उतेन्द्र शर्यणावति । मत्स्वा विवस्वतो मती
Be delighted, O Indra, with sweet Soma at Śaryaṇāvata; rejoice in the thought of Vivasvat.
वावृधान उप द्यवि वृषा वज्र्यरोरवीत् । वृत्रहा सोमपातमः
The mighty thunderer, grown strong, roared aloud in the sky; the slayer of Vṛtra, the foremost Soma-drinker.
ऋषिर्हि पूर्वजा अस्येक ईशान ओजसा । इन्द्र चोष्कूयसे वसु
The sage, born first, is lord by his power; Indra, you are eager for wealth.
अस्माकं त्वा सुताँ उप वीतपृष्ठा अभि प्रयः । शतं वहन्तु हरयः
For you, our pressed Somas, with woven backs, bring forth offering; let a hundred horses carry them.
इमां सु पूर्व्यां धियं मधोर्घृतस्य पिप्युषीम् । कण्वा उक्थेन वावृधुः
This ancient thought, rich in honeyed ghee, the Kanvas have increased with their hymn.
इन्द्रमिद्विमहीनां मेधे वृणीत मर्त्यः । इन्द्रं सनिष्युरूतये
Let the mortal choose Indra in the contests of the mighty; let them seek Indra for help.
अर्वाञ्चं त्वा पुरुष्टुत प्रियमेधस्तुता हरी । सोमपेयाय वक्षतः
Your two horses, praised by Priyamedha and lauded by many, bring you near for the drinking of Soma.
शतमहं तिरिन्दिरे सहस्रं पर्शावा ददे । राधांसि याद्वानाम्
I, Tirindira, have given a hundred, a thousand, and many rewards to the Yadus.
त्रीणि शतान्यर्वतां सहस्रा दश गोनाम् । ददुष्पज्राय साम्ने
Three hundred horses, a thousand, and ten cows have been given to Pajra for his song.
उदानट् ककुहो दिवमुष्ट्राञ्चतुर्युजो ददत् । श्रवसा याद्वं जनम्
Kakuha has raised up four-yoked camels to heaven and given them, with fame, to the Yadu people.
प्र यद्वस्त्रिष्टुभमिषं मरुतो विप्रो अक्षरत् । वि पर्वतेषु राजथ
When the priest recited the hymn in Triṣṭubh meter for the Maruts, you reign over the mountains.
यदङ्ग तविषीयवो यामं शुभ्रा अचिध्वम् । नि पर्वता अहासत
When, O powerful ones, you, shining, set out together, the mountains bowed down.
उदीरयन्त वायुभिर्वाश्रासः पृश्निमातरः । धुक्षन्त पिप्युषीमिषम्
The nourishing cows, daughters of Prishni, rise up with the winds; they pour forth the rich sustenance.
वपन्ति मरुतो मिहं प्र वेपयन्ति पर्वतान् । यद्यामं यान्ति वायुभिः
The Maruts shed rain, they make the mountains tremble; when they move with the winds.
नि यद्यामाय वो गिरिर्नि सिन्धवो विधर्मणे । महे शुष्माय येमिरे
If the mountain yields for your coming, if the rivers part for your path, they have submitted to your great might.
युष्माँ उ नक्तमूतये युष्मान्दिवा हवामहे । युष्मान्प्रयत्यध्वरे
Indeed, we call upon you at night for help, we invoke you by day; we seek you at every sacrifice.
उदु त्ये अरुणप्सवश्चित्रा यामेभिरीरते । वाश्रा अधि ष्णुना दिवः
Those shining ones with ruddy waters rise up with their teams; the nourishing cows upon the seat of heaven.
सृजन्ति रश्मिमोजसा पन्थां सूर्याय यातवे । ते भानुभिर्वि तस्थिरे
With their power they send forth rays, opening a path for the sun to travel; they have stood firm with their beams.
इमां मे मरुतो गिरमिमं स्तोममृभुक्षणः । इमं मे वनता हवम्
O Maruts, accept this song of mine, this praise, O enjoyers of offerings; accept this invocation of mine.
त्रीणि सरांसि पृश्नयो दुदुह्रे वज्रिणे मधु । उत्सं कवन्धमुद्रिणम्
The Prishnis have milked three streams of sweetness for the wielder of the bolt: the well, the hollow, the flowing spring.
मरुतो यद्ध वो दिवः सुम्नायन्तो हवामहे । आ तू न उप गन्तन
Maruts, when we invoke you from heaven, bringing favor, come to us here.
यूयं हि ष्ठा सुदानवो रुद्रा ऋभुक्षणो दमे । उत प्रचेतसो मदे
For you are truly generous, O Rudras, enjoyers of offerings in the home, and wise in the exhilaration.
आ नो रयिं मदच्युतं पुरुक्षुं विश्वधायसम् । इयर्ता मरुतो दिवः
May you, Maruts, send us wealth from heaven, abundant, all-sustaining, flowing with delight.
अधीव यद्गिरीणां यामं शुभ्रा अचिध्वम् । सुवानैर्मन्दध्व इन्दुभिः
When you, bright ones, hasten along the course of the mountains, rejoice with the pressed Soma juices.
एतावतश्चिदेषां सुम्नं भिक्षेत मर्त्यः । अदाभ्यस्य मन्मभिः
Even for this alone, a mortal may seek their favor, with the unassailable hymns.
ये द्रप्सा इव रोदसी धमन्त्यनु वृष्टिभिः । उत्सं दुहन्तो अक्षितम्
They, like shining drops, fill the two worlds with rain, ever drawing forth the inexhaustible spring.
उदु स्वानेभिरीरत उद्रथैरुदु वायुभिः । उत्स्तोमैः पृश्निमातरः
They rise up with their sounds, with their chariots, with the winds, and with songs, the daughters of Prishni.
येनाव तुर्वशं यदुं येन कण्वं धनस्पृतम् । राये सु तस्य धीमहि
By this you protected Turvasha and Yadu, by this Kanva, the seeker of wealth; may we obtain the wealth of that one.
