We praise these thoughts among the foremost, shining like the flame of Agni.
Though hidden, they shine forth by their own nature; the Kanvas, by the stream of truth.
Let us seek from Indra wealth, rich in cows and horses; let us offer the hymn for ancient insight.
Indeed, I have grasped the wisdom of immortality from my father; I was born like the sun.
With ancient thought, I adorn my songs like the Kanvas, by which Indra gained his strength.
Those sages who did not praise you, Indra, and those who did, let me, well-praised, increase your might.

When his wrath moved, he broke the Vritra, the barriers; he sent the waters to the ocean.

You struck down Shushna, Indra, with the thunderbolt for the enemy; mighty and fierce, you are heard.

Neither the heavens, Indra, by their might, nor the midspaces restrain the wielder of the thunderbolt; nor do the earths hold him back.
Whoever, Indra, would oppose your great waters, being set up against them, you strike him down on the paths.
He who, Indra, has seized these two great worlds together, him you hide away with darkness.
Indra, those disciplined ones, the Bhṛgus, and those who have praised you—O mighty one, listen to my invocation.
These, Indra, the spotted cows, yield clarified butter swiftly; they are full of the drink of immortality.
Those who, Indra, with easy births, have made the embryo, surround the sun as in its course.

You, lord of strength, the Kaṇvas have magnified with hymn; you, pressed Soma juices.
For your guidance, Indra, is the praise, O stone-armed one; the sacrifice, well-spread, is for you.
To us, Indra, grant great sustenance, as to a city rich in cattle; and also offspring and heroic strength.
And that horse-likeness, Indra, which belonged to Nahusha, shone forth first among the clans.
You have established the enclosure, like the sun with far-seeing eye, when, Indra, you show us mercy.
Whenever, indeed, with your surpassing power, Indra, you conquer the peoples, great and boundless is your might.

To you, the one of broad shelter, the people with offerings call for aid, Indra, with the drops.
In the valley of the mountains, and at the meeting of the rivers, the inspired sage was born through insight.
From there, from the summit, the wise one looks down upon the ocean, from where the flowing water moves.
From the ancient seed, they behold the light of day, when the one beyond strives during the day.
The Kaṇvas, Indra, increase your wisdom, all enhance your manliness; and also, most powerful one, your virility.
Accept this good praise of mine, Indra; protect me well; and also increase my wisdom.
And we, O wielder of the thunderbolt, have grown in devotion to you; the sages have fashioned hymns for life.
The Kanvas have sent forth their fervor, like streams descending, as their inspired thought seeks Indra.
The praises for Indra have increased, like rivers swelling the ocean; his wrath is unmatched and ageless.
Come to us from afar with your two beloved steeds, O Indra, and drink this pressed Soma.
