गीर्भिर्विप्रः प्रमतिमिच्छमान ईट्टे रयिं यशसं पूर्वभाजम् । इन्द्राग्नी वृत्रहणा सुवज्रा प्र नो नव्येभिस्तिरतं देष्णैः
The inspired one, seeking distinction with hymns, prays for wealth and renowned, ancient gifts; O Indra and Agni, slayers of Vṛtra, strong-armed, grant us new and excellent blessings.
सं यन्मही मिथती स्पर्धमाने तनूरुचा शूरसाता यतैते । अदेवयुं विदथे देवयुभिः सत्रा हतं सोमसुता जनेन
When the two mighty hosts, striving against each other, are set in motion by the strength of the heroic leader, then, O gods, with the worshippers in the assembly, together destroy the godless with the Soma-pressing people.
इमामु षु सोमसुतिमुप न एन्द्राग्नी सौमनसाय यातम् । नू चिद्धि परिमम्नाथे अस्माना वां शश्वद्भिर्ववृतीय वाजैः
Come, O Indra and Agni, to this Soma-pressing for our good favor; for you indeed do not neglect us, and may your steeds ever return with prizes.
सो अग्न एना नमसा समिद्धोऽच्छा मित्रं वरुणमिन्द्रं वोचेः । यत्सीमागश्चकृमा तत्सु मृळ तदर्यमादितिः शिश्रथन्तु
So, O Agni, kindled with reverence, call upon Mitra, Varuṇa, and Indra; whatever offense we have committed, forgive that; may Aryaman and Aditi release us from it.
एता अग्न आशुषाणास इष्टीर्युवोः सचाभ्यश्याम वाजान् । मेन्द्रो नो विष्णुर्मरुतः परि ख्यन्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
With these eager offerings, O Agni, may we, together with you two youths, attain the prizes; may Indra, Viṣṇu, and the Maruts surround us; may you always protect us with blessings.
इयं वामस्य मन्मन इन्द्राग्नी पूर्व्यस्तुतिः । अभ्राद्वृष्टिरिवाजनि
This is your ancient praise, O Indra and Agni, born of my thought, like rain produced from the cloud.
शृणुतं जरितुर्हवमिन्द्राग्नी वनतं गिरः । ईशाना पिप्यतं धियः
Hear the singer's call, O Indra and Agni, accept our songs; as lords, fill our thoughts with abundance.
मा पापत्वाय नो नरेन्द्राग्नी माभिशस्तये । मा नो रीरधतं निदे
Do not, O Indra and Agni, bring us to evil or to reproach; do not harm us in our dwelling.
इन्द्रे अग्ना नमो बृहत्सुवृक्तिमेरयामहे । धिया धेना अवस्यवः
To Indra and Agni, we offer great and well-spoken praise with reverence; with wisdom and the milk-giving cow, we seek your aid.
ता हि शश्वन्त ईळत इत्था विप्रास ऊतये । सबाधो वाजसातये
For indeed, the inspired ones always invoke you in this way for help, for the attainment of strength and wealth.
ता वां गीर्भिर्विपन्यवः प्रयस्वन्तो हवामहे । मेधसाता सनिष्यवः
With songs, eager and skillful, we call upon you both, striving for wisdom and seeking the reward.
इन्द्राग्नी अवसा गतमस्मभ्यं चर्षणीसहा । मा नो दुःशंस ईशत
Indra and Agni, come with your assistance, you who support the people; let no evil speech have power over us.
मा कस्य नो अररुषो धूर्तिः प्रणङ्मर्त्यस्य । इन्द्राग्नी शर्म यच्छतम्
Let not the hostile intent or harm of any mortal approach us; Indra and Agni, grant us your protection.
गोमद्धिरण्यवद्वसु यद्वामश्वावदीमहे । इन्द्राग्नी तद्वनेमहि
Whether it be wealth with cows, gold, or horses that we seek from you, Indra and Agni, may we obtain it.
यत्सोम आ सुते नर इन्द्राग्नी अजोहवुः । सप्तीवन्ता सपर्यवः
When the Soma is pressed, O Indra and Agni, the men call upon you, honoring you with seven offerings.
उक्थेभिर्वृत्रहन्तमा या मन्दाना चिदा गिरा । आङ्गूषैराविवासतः
With hymns, you who slay the foe, even with joyful songs, are summoned with loud cries.
ताविद्दुःशंसं मर्त्यं दुर्विद्वांसं रक्षस्विनम् । आभोगं हन्मना हतमुदधिं हन्मना हतम्
Thus, destroy the evil-minded mortal, the ignorant, the demon; strike down the enemy with your power, strike down the abyss with your power.
प्र क्षोदसा धायसा सस्र एषा सरस्वती धरुणमायसी पूः । प्रबाबधाना रथ्येव याति विश्वा अपो महिना सिन्धुरन्याः
With her waves and current, Sarasvati flows forth, the mighty river, bearing her stronghold; advancing like a charioteer, she moves, surpassing all other rivers in greatness.
एकाचेतत्सरस्वती नदीनां शुचिर्यती गिरिभ्य आ समुद्रात् । रायश्चेतन्ती भुवनस्य भूरेर्घृतं पयो दुदुहे नाहुषाय
Sarasvati alone among rivers is pure, flowing from the mountains to the sea; she brings wealth to the world, and for Nahusha, she has milked ghee and sweet nourishment.
स वावृधे नर्यो योषणासु वृषा शिशुर्वृषभो यज्ञियासु । स वाजिनं मघवद्भ्यो दधाति वि सातये तन्वं मामृजीत
He has grown strong among noble women, a bull, a child, a mighty one among those worthy of sacrifice; he gives prizes to the generous, and for distribution, he has adorned his form.
उत स्या नः सरस्वती जुषाणोप श्रवत्सुभगा यज्ञे अस्मिन् । मितज्ञुभिर्नमस्यैरियाना राया युजा चिदुत्तरा सखिभ्यः
May Sarasvati, gracious and famed, accept our offering in this sacrifice; with those who know the measure, with reverent worship, may she bring us wealth, even surpassing our friends.
इमा जुह्वाना युष्मदा नमोभिः प्रति स्तोमं सरस्वति जुषस्व । तव शर्मन्प्रियतमे दधाना उप स्थेयाम शरणं न वृक्षम्
These offerings, made with reverence, accept our praise, Sarasvati; placing your most beloved protection, may we approach you as one seeks shelter under a tree.
अयमु ते सरस्वति वसिष्ठो द्वारावृतस्य सुभगे व्यावः । वर्ध शुभ्रे स्तुवते रासि वाजान्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
Here, Sarasvati, Vasiṣṭha, the fortunate, has opened the gates; increase, O pure one, for the one who praises you, grant us strength, always protect us with blessings.
बृहदु गायिषे वचोऽसुर्या नदीनाम् । सरस्वतीमिन्महया सुवृक्तिभि स्तोमैर्वसिष्ठ रोदसी
I sing a great song to the mighty one, the goddess of rivers; Sarasvati, honor her with well-spoken hymns, Vasiṣṭha, with praises, O earth and sky.
उभे यत्ते महिना शुभ्रे अन्धसी अधिक्षियन्ति पूरवः । सा नो बोध्यवित्री मरुत्सखा चोद राधो मघोनाम्
Both your realms, O pure one, are filled with greatness, and the people dwell therein; may you be our helper, friend of the Maruts, inspire the generosity of the bountiful.
भद्रमिद्भद्रा कृणवत्सरस्वत्यकवारी चेतति वाजिनीवती । गृणाना जमदग्निवत्स्तुवाना च वसिष्ठवत्
May Sarasvati, the auspicious, make us fortunate; she is attentive, full of strength; praising like Jamadagni, and singing like Vasiṣṭha.
जनीयन्तो न्वग्रवः पुत्रीयन्तः सुदानवः । सरस्वन्तं हवामहे
Those who are born, who are strong, who are generous sons, we call upon Sarasvatī.
ये ते सरस्व ऊर्मयो मधुमन्तो घृतश्चुतः । तेभिर्नोऽविता भव
O Sarasvatī, those waves of yours, sweet and flowing with clarified butter, with them be our protector.
पीपिवांसं सरस्वत स्तनं यो विश्वदर्शतः । भक्षीमहि प्रजामिषम्
May we consume the nourishing milk of Sarasvatī, which is abundant and visible to all, as food for offspring.
यज्ञे दिवो नृषदने पृथिव्या नरो यत्र देवयवो मदन्ति । इन्द्राय यत्र सवनानि सुन्वे गमन्मदाय प्रथमं वयश्च
In the sacrifice, in the seat of men, on earth, where the noble ones rejoice, where I press the libations for Indra, for joy and for the first vigor.
