The fortunate, all-seeing Sun rises, common to all mankind; he is the eye of Mitra and Varuna, the god, who, like a skin, reveals the thoughts within.
He rises, the creator of people, the great banner of the Sun, the ocean; the same wheel revolves, carried by the spokes, as the rays bear it, harnessed to the yoke.
Radiant, he rises from the place of the dawns, accompanied by the shining ones, praised by all; this god Savitar has set in order for me, he who does not neglect the appointed path, like one who does not forsake his shared dwelling.
With golden brilliance, far-seeing, he rises from the sky, shining, traversing distant aims; now people, born with the sun, move about, pursue their tasks, and perform their works.
Where the immortals have made a path for him, like an eagle flying swiftly, he follows the course; at your rising, O Sun, we offer worship to you both, Mitra and Varuna, with reverence and offerings.
Now may Mitra, Varuna, and Aryaman grant us wide space for ourselves and our children; may all our paths be easy and good; may you always protect us with well-being.
Dwelling in the sky, in the expanse of the atmosphere, may streams of clarified butter flow forth for you; may Mitra, Aryaman, noble-born king, and Varuna of good rule, accept our offering.
O royal guardians of truth, lords of the rivers, rulers, come near; grant us, Mitra and Varuna, nourishment and rain from the sky, you who bestow long life.
May Mitra, Varuna, and the god Aryaman lead us on the most prosperous paths; may he declare, 'Let Sudas, protected by the gods, prosper with abundance.'
He who fashioned this pit with his mind, who made and upheld the lofty intention—may you, Mitra and Varuna, pour forth with ghee; may you, O kings, satisfy the well-settled ones.
This praise, O Varuna and Mitra, is for you; I bring the bright Soma as to Vayu; inspire our thoughts, accept our prayers, and always protect us with well-being.
At your rising, O Sun, with hymns I call upon Mitra and Varuna, pure in skill, whose lordship is unshaken and supreme, who move in the path that none can obstruct.
For they are the lords among the gods, they are the mighty ones; may they grant us thriving lands; may we, Mitra and Varuna, dwell where the heavens and days bring fullness.
They, with many snares, are the guardians against falsehood, difficult to overcome for the hostile mortal; O Mitra and Varuna, by the path of truth, like a boat over waters, may we cross over all misfortune.
O Mitra and Varuna, accept our offering, let streams of ghee and abundance of milk flow; here, grant the best to your worshipper, and fill us from the heavenly source.
This praise, O Varuna and Mitra, is for you; I bring the bright Soma as to Vayu; inspire our thoughts, accept our prayers, and always protect us with well-being.
Let this praise go forth to Mitra and Varuna, strong and worthy; let us bow to the two, born of the same origin.
Those whom the gods, skilled in action, sustain—those fathers of skill, for the greatness of lordship.
May those, the guardians of the body, Varuna, the protector of singers, and Mitra, accomplish our thoughts.
When today, at sunrise, Mitra, Aryaman, Savitar, and Bhaga, free from guilt, bring prosperity.
May that dwelling be rich in noble sons, ever advancing, O generous ones, who have carried us beyond distress.
And Aditi, sovereign of truth, unbroken in her rule, along with those kings who possess great power, governs.
At your sunrise, I praise Mitra, Varuṇa, and Aryaman, the destroyer of falsehood.
This thought, seeking wisdom, is offered for strength to the mighty, the unassailable, for the gaining of golden wealth.
May we be, O god Varuṇa, and you, O Mitra, together with the wise, possess prosperity and well-being.
Many, with the vision of the sun, with tongues of fire, upholding truth, have traversed the three gatherings by their thoughts, surpassing all with their protections.
They have set apart the year, the month, the day for the sacrifice, and Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, the kings, have taken up their undiminished power.
This day we honor you with hymns at sunrise, when Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, and you, charioteers of truth, are yoked.
Upholders of truth, born of truth, growing by truth, formidable, haters of falsehood—may we, O men, and all the wise, be in your good favor, most well-defended.
That wondrous form, shining, rises up from the sky at dawn, when the swift one, the god-driven, carries it for all to see.
