Waters, you who first serve the gods, create the stream for Indra's drink; we seek you, pure, delightful, sprinkled with ghee, sweet with honey.
That stream of yours, waters, most sweet, swift-flowing, let us attain; in which Indra delights with the Vasus—may we, worshipping, reach it today.
The divine waters, purified a hundred times, rejoice in their own nature, and go on their path; they do not violate Indra's laws—offer the oblation, rich in ghee, to the rivers.
Those which Sūrya has spread with his rays, by which Indra opened the stream's path; those rivers, grant us passage—may you always protect us with blessings.

May we be with you, O Rbhu, together with the Rbhus; O Mighty One, with the mighty, with strength upon strength. May Vaja, the bestower of strength, protect us in the gaining of strength; with Indra as our ally, may we overcome the foe.
For even those ancient commands are still effective; all the Arya’s decrees remain firm. Indra, the mighty, the Rbhukṣa, Vaja, the noble, has shattered the enemy’s pride and established manly power.

Born of the ocean, from the midst of the waters, the purifying ones come, never settling. Indra, the wielder of the thunderbolt, the bull, has sent them forth—may these divine waters here protect me.
Whether they are heavenly waters or those that flow, those that are dug or those that arise of themselves, those that seek the ocean, pure and radiant—may these divine waters here protect me.

Among whom Varuṇa is king, moving in their midst, discerning truth and falsehood among men; those pure, radiant ones that flow with sweetness—may these divine waters here protect me.
In whom Varuṇa is king, in whom Soma, in whom all the gods delight in strength; in whom Agni Vaiśvānara has entered—may these divine waters here protect me.
Here, O Mitra and Varuṇa, protect me; let not the clan, the people, or anyone harm me. I have placed the difficult, the unseen, far away; let not the serpent seize me with harm through my foot.
If there is a bone or a stone or a thorn, or if anything sharp is near my ankle, O Agni, shining one, drive it away from here; let not the serpent seize me with harm through my foot.
Whatever is slippery, whatever is in the rivers, whatever poison arises from the plants—may all the gods and Niriti remove it; let not the serpent seize me with harm through my foot.
The flowing, the still, the rising, the deep, and the waterless rivers—may all these, swelling with their waters, be auspicious, divine, and harmless for us; may all the rivers be free from harm for us.
By the new favor of the Ādityas, may we partake of their shelter, full of peace. In guiltlessness, in the freedom of Aditi, may the mighty ones, hearing, accept this offering.

All the Ādityas, all the Maruts, all the gods, all the Rbhus, Indra, Agni, and the Aśvins—may you all, praised, always protect us with blessings.
May we be under the protection of the Ādityas, of Aditi, O Vasus, both in the world of the gods and among mortals. May we be victorious, O Mitra and Varuṇa; may we prosper, O Heaven and Earth, as you prosper.
May Mitra, may Varuṇa not harm us; may the guardians grant shelter for our offspring and descendants. May we not suffer for any ancestral sin; may we not commit, O Vasus, what you dislike.
