विदुः पृथिव्या दिवो जनित्रं शृण्वन्त्यापो अध क्षरन्तीः
They know the origin of earth and heaven; the waters listen as they flow below.
आपश्चिदस्मै पिन्वन्त पृथ्वीर्वृत्रेषु शूरा मंसन्त उग्राः
Even the waters swell for him; the strong ones, fierce in battles, desire the earths.
आ धूर्ष्वस्मै दधाताश्वानिन्द्रो न वज्री हिरण्यबाहुः
Yoke the horses for him to the yoke, like Indra the wielder of the bolt, golden-armed.
अभि प्र स्थाताहेव यज्ञं यातेव पत्मन्त्मना हिनोत
Let him advance, as one setting out, to the sacrifice, as a wife to her husband; strengthen him with your own power.
त्मना समत्सु हिनोत यज्ञं दधात केतुं जनाय वीरम्
With your own power, strengthen the sacrifice in the battles; set a sign, a hero, for the people.
उदस्य शुष्माद्भानुर्नार्त बिभर्ति भारं पृथिवी न भूम
From his energies, his brilliance rises; he bears the burden like the earth bears the world.
ह्वयामि देवाँ अयातुरग्ने साधन्नृतेन धियं दधामि
I call upon the gods—may they come, O Agni; having accomplished righteousness, I set my thought.
अभि वो देवीं धियं दधिध्वं प्र वो देवत्रा वाचं कृणुध्वम्
Direct your inspired thought to the goddess; raise your voice here to the gods.
आ चष्ट आसां पाथो नदीनां वरुण उग्रः सहस्रचक्षाः
The mighty Varuṇa, thousand-eyed, has beheld the courses of these rivers.
राजा राष्ट्रानां पेशो नदीनामनुत्तमस्मै क्षत्रं विश्वायु
The king of peoples, the adornment of rivers, to him belongs the supreme dominion, all-pervading.
अविष्टो अस्मान्विश्वासु विक्ष्वद्युं कृणोत शंसं निनित्सोः
May he protect us in all the tribes; may he make our praise renowned, O you who are to be praised.
व्येतु दिद्युद्द्विषामशेवा युयोत विष्वग्रपस्तनूनाम्
Let the hostile lightning depart far away; ward off all harm from our bodies.
अवीन्नो अग्निर्हव्यान्नमोभिः प्रेष्ठो अस्मा अधायि स्तोमः
Agni has accepted our offerings with reverence; our hymn has been placed before him as most dear.
सजूर्देवेभिरपां नपातं सखायं कृध्वं शिवो नो अस्तु
Together with the gods, make the Offspring of the Waters our friend; may he be gracious to us.
अब्जामुक्थैरहिं गृणीषे बुध्ने नदीनां रजस्सु षीदन्
With lotus-mouths I praise the serpent in the depths of the rivers, who sits in the realms.
मा नोऽहिर्बुध्न्यो रिषे धान्मा यज्ञो अस्य स्रिधदृतायोः
May the Serpent of the Deep not harm us; may his sacrifice not fail through the faults of the two upholders of order.
उत न एषु नृषु श्रवो धुः प्र राये यन्तु शर्धन्तो अर्यः
And may fame come to us among these men; may the noble ones, striving, go forth for wealth.
तपन्ति शत्रुं स्वर्ण भूमा महासेनासो अमेभिरेषाम्
They scorch the enemy, shining, vast, mighty hosts, with their weapons.
आ यन्नः पत्नीर्गमन्त्यच्छा त्वष्टा सुपाणिर्दधातु वीरान्
When our wives come to us, may Tvaṣṭṛ, with fair hands, grant us sons.
प्रति न स्तोमं त्वष्टा जुषेत स्यादस्मे अरमतिर्वसूयुः
May Tvaṣṭṛ accept our hymn; may the favor of the loving one, the seeker of wealth, be with us.
ता नो रासन्रातिषाचो वसून्या रोदसी वरुणानी शृणोतु । वरूत्रीभिः सुशरणो नो अस्तु त्वष्टा सुदत्रो वि दधातु रायः
May the bestowers of gifts grant us riches; may the two worlds, the Varuṇānī, hear us. With the Varūtrīs as our shelter, may Tvaṣṭṛ, of good counsel, distribute wealth to us.
तन्नो रायः पर्वतास्तन्न आपस्तद्रातिषाच ओषधीरुत द्यौः । वनस्पतिभिः पृथिवी सजोषा उभे रोदसी परि पासतो नः
May the mountains, the waters, the bestowers of gifts, the plants, and the sky grant us wealth; may the earth, together with the forest trees, and both worlds protect us all around.
अनु तदुर्वी रोदसी जिहातामनु द्युक्षो वरुण इन्द्रसखा । अनु विश्वे मरुतो ये सहासो रायः स्याम धरुणं धियध्यै
May the two vast worlds follow that; may the bright Varuṇa, Indra's friend, follow; may all the Maruts, who are mighty, follow; may we obtain wealth for the support of our thought.
तन्न इन्द्रो वरुणो मित्रो अग्निराप ओषधीर्वनिनो जुषन्त । शर्मन्स्याम मरुतामुपस्थे यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
May Indra, Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni, the waters, the plants, and the forests accept this; may we dwell in the shelter of the Maruts; may you always protect us with well-being.
शं न इन्द्राग्नी भवतामवोभिः शं न इन्द्रावरुणा रातहव्या । शमिन्द्रासोमा सुविताय शं योः शं न इन्द्रापूषणा वाजसातौ
May Indra and Agni be gracious to us with their protection; may Indra and Varuṇa, who are worthy of offerings, bring us well-being. May Indra and Soma grant us prosperity and happiness; may Indra and Pūṣan bestow strength and success upon us.
शं नो भगः शमु नः शंसो अस्तु शं नः पुरंधिः शमु सन्तु रायः । शं नः सत्यस्य सुयमस्य शंसः शं नो अर्यमा पुरुजातो अस्तु
May Bhaga bring us good fortune; may our praise be auspicious for us. May Puraṃdhi grant us well-being; may riches be favorable to us. May the blessing of the true and well-restrained be with us; may Aryaman, born of many, be gracious to us.
शं नो धाता शमु धर्ता नो अस्तु शं न उरूची भवतु स्वधाभिः । शं रोदसी बृहती शं नो अद्रिः शं नो देवानां सुहवानि सन्तु
May the Creator be gracious to us; may the Upholder support us with favor. May the wide one, with her own powers, be beneficial to us. May the two vast worlds, Heaven and Earth, be gracious; may the mountain and the kindly gods be favorable to us.
शं नो अग्निर्ज्योतिरनीको अस्तु शं नो मित्रावरुणावश्विना शम् । शं नः सुकृतां सुकृतानि सन्तु शं न इषिरो अभि वातु वातः
May Agni, the radiant, the leader, be gracious to us; may Mitra, Varuṇa, and the Aśvins bring us well-being. May the good deeds of the virtuous be favorable to us; may the wind blow upon us with blessing.
शं नो द्यावापृथिवी पूर्वहूतौ शमन्तरिक्षं दृशये नो अस्तु । शं न ओषधीर्वनिनो भवन्तु शं नो रजसस्पतिरस्तु जिष्णुः
May Heaven and Earth, invoked from ancient times, be gracious to us; may the midspace be auspicious for our sight. May the plants and the forests be beneficial to us; may the lord of the realms, victorious, be gracious to us.
शं न इन्द्रो वसुभिर्देवो अस्तु शमादित्येभिर्वरुणः सुशंसः । शं नो रुद्रो रुद्रेभिर्जलाषः शं नस्त्वष्टा ग्नाभिरिह शृणोतु
May Indra, the god, be gracious to us with the Vasus; may Varuṇa, praised among the Ādityas, be well-disposed. May Rudra, with the Rudras, the gentle, be gracious; may Tvaṣṭṛ, with the goddesses, hear us here.
