Let us, your friends, rejoice in your favor, O generous one, in your shelter; subdue Turvaśa and Yadu, and grant worthy fame to Atithigva.
Even now, O generous one, in your favor, men praise you with hymns and chants; those who, with their invocations, have driven away the Paṇis—choose us for that alliance.
These praises of men, O most heroic, are for you; they bring gifts to us; in the slaying of Vṛtra, O Indra, be gracious, be a friend, a hero, and a protector of men.
Now, O Indra, heroic one, praised, grow strong with the support of prayer and your own might; come to us for strength, come for seats—may you always protect us with blessings.
The mighty one was born for heroic power, self-sustaining, who made the waters, a manly one, when he was about to act. The youthful one went to the seat of men with help; Indra, as a protector, does not let even great sin harm us.
Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra, shining forth, has defended the singer like a hero. He made a place for Sudās, and indeed, he is the giver of wealth, granting again and again to the worshipper.
Fierce in battle, unwearied, breaking through obstacles, a hero, always victorious, strong by birth—Indra, with his own might, scattered the armies and struck down all who were hostile.
Indra, mighty with his strength, has filled both heaven and earth with greatness; powerful, he, the bearer of the thunderbolt, measured them out, and in the exhilaration of Soma, he spoke forth.
The bull begot a bull for battle; even a noble woman bore this manly one. He who is a leader of armies, a helper of men, steadfast in spirit, a seeker of cattle, he is bold.
Now, that people do not falter, nor does the mind waver, who have invoked his terrible power. Those who place their offerings in Indra with sacrifices, those righteous and truthful ones, possess enduring wealth.
When, Indra, you, seeking for the later, taught the earlier, you gave the greater portion to the lesser. He, immortal, went far around; bring us, O wondrous one, splendid wealth.
That man, O Indra, who is your dear worshipper, who gives, who is your friend, O thunderer—may we be among those most favored in your good will, protected from harm, honored among men.
This praise has been raised for you, O mighty one; let it reach you, O generous one, who is invoked by the pressed Soma. Desiring wealth, the singer calls you—come, O Śakra, bring us riches.
So, Indra, may you bestow upon us strength with your support, as those generous ones aid by their own power. May your power for the singer be abundant; may you always protect us with well-being.
The exhilarating Soma has been poured for the god, the bellowing one, for whom Indra, in his birth, spoke. We would awaken you, O Indra of the tawny steeds, with sacrifices; may you be aware of our praise, delighting in the Soma draughts.
They go forth to the sacrifice, they prepare the sacred grass, the Soma-drinkers, with their utterances in the assembly. From the houses of the glorious, the renowned, the powerful, the manly ones, the far-heard, are brought forth.
You, Indra, have caused the streams to flow, unimpeded, you, O hero, have established many with the serpent. At your roaring, the chariots, like cows, tremble; all the devices are shaken by your might.
Terrible, he rushes with his weapons against them, knowing all the manly deeds. Indra, exulting, has shattered the forts; with his thunderbolt in his hand, by his greatness, he has struck down.
No one, O Indra, who strives, has prevailed against you, nor any who worships with rituals, O most mighty. May the hostile, harmful one be scattered, and let not the godless ones overpower us.
With your power, O Indra, you have surpassed many, your greatness has filled the regions. By your own might you slew Vṛtra; no enemy has found your limit in battle.
Even the ancient gods, for lordship, have submitted their powers for sovereignty. Indra dispenses gifts to the mighty; in the contest for strength, they call upon Indra for aid.
Even a weakling calls upon you for help, O Indra, lord of abundant good fortune. You have been a hundredfold protector for us; the guardians of the powerful one have surrounded us.
O Indra, may we always be your friends, ever growing in reverence, mighty through your greatness. Let your favor grant us victory in assembly; let your strength overcome the power of hostile men.
O Indra, grant us the wealth that comes from you and your own nature, which the generous bestow. May your power for the worshipper be abundant; may you always protect us with well-being.
Drink the Soma, Indra, let it delight you—the Soma which the stone has pressed for you, O lover of horses, from the mountain, skillfully poured by the presser's hands.
That exhilarating, lovely draught of yours, O lover of horses, by which you have slain the Vṛtras—may that, O Indra, mighty in power, intoxicate you.
Hear, O generous one, this speech of mine, which Vasiṣṭha offers as praise to you. Accept these hymns at the shared feast.
Hear the call of the one who pours from the mountain; attend to the inspired thought of the singer. Grant us your most helpful favor, so that we may be joined with you.
I cannot deny your words, O mighty one, nor the praise of you, O lord, for I know them. I always proclaim your name, your true glory.
For your libations among men are many, and many a wise man calls upon you. O generous one, do not take our dwelling away from us.
