Indra at once shattered all their strongholds, seven fortresses, with force; he drove away Gaya for Tṛtsu, and in the contest, subdued Pūru, the speaker of harsh words.
Sixty, a hundred, and six thousand of the Anu and Druhyu hosts slept, the sixty heroes and six leaders; all these deeds were accomplished by Indra’s might.
With Indra, the Tṛtsus, exulting, crossed over like waters released, flowing downward; the ill-minded, measuring out their plots, abandoned all possessions to Sudās.

Indra, the drinker of Soma, drove away half the advancing host, opposing the arrogant; Indra measured out wrath against wrath, choosing the path, ruling the course.
With a single blow, he made the fierce one tremble, even the lion he struck down with his might; Indra cut down the leaders of the enemy, and gave all the possessions to Sudās.

The Tṛtsus, along with Yamunā, drove Indra forward at dawn, breaking through all barriers; the Ajās, the Śigrus, and the Yakṣus, bearing tribute, carried off the horses' heads.
Neither former nor new dawns, nor Indra's favor or riches, could protect them; you, Indra, even struck down Devaka, who thought himself mighty, and shattered the great Śambara.
Those who rejoiced in the house of the enemy—Parāśara, Śatayātu, and Vasiṣṭha—did not abandon the friendship of Bhoja; thus, for the wise, the days of good fortune have dawned.
Sudās, the grandson of Devavata, has won two hundred cows and two chariots with brides; O Agni, I honor the gift of Paijavana, circling the house like a priest, resounding in praise.
Four gifts from Paijavana, marked for me, have been set apart by the lean ones; the swift ones of Sudās, standing on the earth, carry fame for offspring and descendants.
His fame, spread between heaven and earth, is divided at every summit; seven streams praise Indra, flowing forth, and in battle, he has subdued the hostile ones.
These men, together with the Maruts, have followed this Divodāsa, the father of Sudās; may you grant us, O Paijavana, the sign, the undiminished, ageless power, for protection.
He who is sharp-horned, like a mighty bull, terrifying, alone stirs all peoples; he who always leads the generous Gaya to the most delightful offering, he knows.
You, Indra, protected Kutsa, eager to serve, with your own body in battle; you subdued the Dāsa Śuṣṇa and Kuyava, and granted victory to Arjuneya.
You, bold one, with boldness, have led Sudās, who offers well, with all your aids; you protected Paurukutsa and Trasadasyu, and Puru in the gaining of land and the slaying of Vṛtra.
You, among men, O Indra, delighting in men’s offerings, have slain many Vṛtras, O Haryaśva; you cast down the Dasyu Cumuri and Dhuni, making them sleep for the benefit of the worshipper.
These deeds of yours, O Indra, wielder of the bolt, are renowned: when you destroyed ninety-nine cities at once; in the hundredth dwelling you entered, and you slew Vṛtra and also Namuci.
These ancient gifts, O Indra, are for Sudās, who offers with prayer; I harness your two strong, stallion-like steeds for you, let hymns bring you abundant strength.
Let us not, O Indra, be left behind in this contest of strength, O mighty one; protect us with your unfailing defenses, let us be your favorites among the generous.
Let us, your friends, rejoice in your favor, O generous one, in your shelter; subdue Turvaśa and Yadu, and grant worthy fame to Atithigva.
Even now, O generous one, in your favor, men praise you with hymns and chants; those who, with their invocations, have driven away the Paṇis—choose us for that alliance.
These praises of men, O most heroic, are for you; they bring gifts to us; in the slaying of Vṛtra, O Indra, be gracious, be a friend, a hero, and a protector of men.
Now, O Indra, heroic one, praised, grow strong with the support of prayer and your own might; come to us for strength, come for seats—may you always protect us with blessings.
The mighty one was born for heroic power, self-sustaining, who made the waters, a manly one, when he was about to act. The youthful one went to the seat of men with help; Indra, as a protector, does not let even great sin harm us.
Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra, shining forth, has defended the singer like a hero. He made a place for Sudās, and indeed, he is the giver of wealth, granting again and again to the worshipper.
Fierce in battle, unwearied, breaking through obstacles, a hero, always victorious, strong by birth—Indra, with his own might, scattered the armies and struck down all who were hostile.
Indra, mighty with his strength, has filled both heaven and earth with greatness; powerful, he, the bearer of the thunderbolt, measured them out, and in the exhilaration of Soma, he spoke forth.
The bull begot a bull for battle; even a noble woman bore this manly one. He who is a leader of armies, a helper of men, steadfast in spirit, a seeker of cattle, he is bold.
Now, that people do not falter, nor does the mind waver, who have invoked his terrible power. Those who place their offerings in Indra with sacrifices, those righteous and truthful ones, possess enduring wealth.
