एते द्युम्नेभिर्विश्वमातिरन्त मन्त्रं ये वारं नर्या अतक्षन् । प्र ये विशस्तिरन्त श्रोषमाणा आ ये मे अस्य दीधयन्नृतस्य
These, with their splendors, surpass all; those who have fashioned the noble hymn, the men of skill. Those who, attentive, surpass the peoples, those who kindle for me the flame of truth.
नू त्वामग्न ईमहे वसिष्ठा ईशानं सूनो सहसो वसूनाम् । इषं स्तोतृभ्यो मघवद्भ्य आनड्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
Now, O Agni, we Vasiṣṭhas invoke you, lord of strength, son of power, among the treasures. Grant to the praisers, the generous, unfailing sustenance; always protect us with blessings.
इन्धे राजा समर्यो नमोभिर्यस्य प्रतीकमाहुतं घृतेन । नरो हव्येभिरीळते सबाध आग्निरग्र उषसामशोचि
The king, the peerless one, is kindled with reverence, whose face is invoked with ghee. Men worship Agni with offerings; he shines at the fore with the dawns, radiant.
अयमु ष्य सुमहाँ अवेदि होता मन्द्रो मनुषो यह्वो अग्निः । वि भा अकः ससृजानः पृथिव्यां कृष्णपविरोषधीभिर्ववक्षे
This mighty one, indeed, has been recognized as the Hotar, Agni, delightful, strong among men. Spreading light, he moves across the earth, adorned with black-tipped plants.
कया नो अग्ने वि वसः सुवृक्तिं कामु स्वधामृणवः शस्यमानः । कदा भवेम पतयः सुदत्र रायो वन्तारो दुष्टरस्य साधोः
By what means, O Agni, will you grant us abundant, excellent praise, fulfilling our desire, as you are praised? When shall we become lords of good counsel, winners of wealth, overcoming the difficult path?
प्रप्रायमग्निर्भरतस्य शृण्वे वि यत्सूर्यो न रोचते बृहद्भाः । अभि यः पूरुं पृतनासु तस्थौ द्युतानो दैव्यो अतिथिः शुशोच
The fame of Agni of the Bharatas is heard, when, like the sun, he shines with great light. He stood by Pūru in battles, blazing, the divine guest, shining forth.
असन्नित्त्वे आहवनानि भूरि भुवो विश्वेभिः सुमना अनीकैः । स्तुतश्चिदग्ने शृण्विषे गृणानः स्वयं वर्धस्व तन्वं सुजात
Many are your offerings at the invocation, O Agni, with all your gracious forms. Even when praised, you hear, O Agni, as we sing; increase yourself, well-born, by your own power.
इदं वचः शतसाः संसहस्रमुदग्नये जनिषीष्ट द्विबर्हाः । शं यत्स्तोतृभ्य आपये भवाति द्युमदमीवचातनं रक्षोहा
This word, a hundredfold, a thousandfold, let it be composed for Agni, the two-barhish one. May that which brings joy to the praisers be for help, full of splendor, dispelling want, destroyer of harm.

अबोधि जार उषसामुपस्थाद्धोता मन्द्रः कवितमः पावकः । दधाति केतुमुभयस्य जन्तोर्हव्या देवेषु द्रविणं सुकृत्सु
The lover has awakened at the lap of the dawns, the Hotar, delightful, most wise, pure. He sets the sign for both kinds of beings, bearing offerings to the gods, wealth to the doers of good.
स सुक्रतुर्यो वि दुरः पणीनां पुनानो अर्कं पुरुभोजसं नः । होता मन्द्रो विशां दमूनास्तिरस्तमो ददृशे राम्याणाम्
He, the wise, who breaks through the fortresses of the niggards, purifying the hymn, brings us much food. The Hotar, delightful, lord of the people, dispels darkness, appearing among the shining ones.
अमूरः कविरदितिर्विवस्वान्सुसंसन्मित्रो अतिथिः शिवो नः । चित्रभानुरुषसां भात्यग्रेऽपां गर्भः प्रस्व आ विवेश
Unfailing, the sage, Aditi, the radiant one, the friend, the guest, is auspicious for us. With brilliant light, he shines at the fore of the dawns; the embryo of waters has entered the expanse.
ईळेन्यो वो मनुषो युगेषु समनगा अशुचज्जातवेदाः । सुसंदृशा भानुना यो विभाति प्रति गावः समिधानं बुधन्त
Worthy of worship are you, O Jātavedas, among men through the ages, pure one. With beautiful light, you shine; at your kindling, the cows awaken.
अग्ने याहि दूत्यं मा रिषण्यो देवाँ अच्छा ब्रह्मकृता गणेन । सरस्वतीं मरुतो अश्विनापो यक्षि देवान्रत्नधेयाय विश्वान्
Agni, come for the mission, do not fail; approach the gods with the company of those who perform the hymns. Worship Sarasvatī, the Maruts, the Aśvins, the waters, all the gods for the bestowal of treasures.
त्वामग्ने समिधानो वसिष्ठो जरूथं हन्यक्षि राये पुरंधिम् । पुरुणीथा जातवेदो जरस्व यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
Vasiṣṭha, having kindled you, Agni, seeks protection and prosperity; O Jātavedas, grow strong with many offerings. May you all always guard us with blessings.
उषो न जारः पृथु पाजो अश्रेद्दविद्युतद्दीद्यच्छोशुचानः । वृषा हरिः शुचिरा भाति भासा धियो हिन्वान उशतीरजीगः
Like a lover, O Dawn, with broad strength, you shine forth, resplendent, flashing, brilliant, glowing. The vigorous, golden one, pure, shines with radiance, stirring the awakened, urging thoughts onward.
स्वर्ण वस्तोरुषसामरोचि यज्ञं तन्वाना उशिजो न मन्म । अग्निर्जन्मानि देव आ वि विद्वान्द्रवद्दूतो देवयावा वनिष्ठः
Dawn has made the shining realm visible; performing sacrifice, the awakened ones, like priests, offer their thoughts. Agni, knowing all births, comes with knowledge, like a messenger, eager for the gods, most skilled among the divine.
अच्छा गिरो मतयो देवयन्तीरग्निं यन्ति द्रविणं भिक्षमाणाः । सुसंदृशं सुप्रतीकं स्वञ्चं हव्यवाहमरतिं मानुषाणाम्
Hymns and thoughts devoted to the gods go to Agni, seeking wealth. He is well-seen, of beautiful form, gracious, the bearer of offerings, the delight of humankind.
इन्द्रं नो अग्ने वसुभिः सजोषा रुद्रं रुद्रेभिरा वहा बृहन्तम् । आदित्येभिरदितिं विश्वजन्यां बृहस्पतिमृक्वभिर्विश्ववारम्
Agni, bring Indra to us with the Vasus, united; bring the mighty Rudra with the Rudras; with the Ādityas, bring Aditi, mother of all; bring Bṛhaspati with the singers, the all-encompassing.
मन्द्रं होतारमुशिजो यविष्ठमग्निं विश ईळते अध्वरेषु । स हि क्षपावाँ अभवद्रयीणामतन्द्रो दूतो यजथाय देवान्
The awakened ones praise Agni, the most youthful, as the gracious priest at the sacrifices. For he has become the protector of nights and treasures, tireless messenger, most fit to worship the gods.
महाँ अस्यध्वरस्य प्रकेतो न ऋते त्वदमृता मादयन्ते । आ विश्वेभिः सरथं याहि देवैर्न्यग्ने होता प्रथमः सदेह
Great is the wisdom of this sacrifice; without you, O Agni, the immortals do not rejoice. Come with all the gods together; as the first priest, take your seat here.
त्वामीळते अजिरं दूत्याय हविष्मन्तः सदमिन्मानुषासः । यस्य देवैरासदो बर्हिरग्नेऽहान्यस्मै सुदिना भवन्ति
To you, swift one, men offer prayers for your messenger's task, always with offerings. For whom, O Agni, the gods sit at the sacrificial seat, for him the days become most auspicious.
त्रिश्चिदक्तोः प्र चिकितुर्वसूनि त्वे अन्तर्दाशुषे मर्त्याय । मनुष्वदग्न इह यक्षि देवान्भवा नो दूतो अभिशस्तिपावा
Even three times in a day, they seek your treasures, O you who dwell within, for the generous mortal. Like Manu, Agni, worship the gods here; be our messenger, protector from curses.
अग्निरीशे बृहतो अध्वरस्याग्निर्विश्वस्य हविषः कृतस्य । क्रतुं ह्यस्य वसवो जुषन्ताथा देवा दधिरे हव्यवाहम्
Agni is the lord of the great sacrifice, Agni of all the offered oblations. The Vasus delight in his power; thus the gods have established him as the bearer of offerings.
आग्ने वह हविरद्याय देवानिन्द्रज्येष्ठास इह मादयन्ताम् । इमं यज्ञं दिवि देवेषु धेहि यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
Agni, bring the gods here today for the offering, with Indra as chief, so they may rejoice. Place this sacrifice among the gods in heaven. May you all always guard us with blessings.
अगन्म महा नमसा यविष्ठं यो दीदाय समिद्धः स्वे दुरोणे । चित्रभानुं रोदसी अन्तरुर्वी स्वाहुतं विश्वतः प्रत्यञ्चम्
We have reached, with great reverence, the youngest, who shines brightly when kindled in his own home—Agni of wondrous radiance, between heaven and earth, invoked from all sides, facing us.
स मह्ना विश्वा दुरितानि साह्वानग्नि ष्टवे दम आ जातवेदाः । स नो रक्षिषद्दुरितादवद्यादस्मान्गृणत उत नो मघोनः
By his greatness, Agni, Jātavedas, overcomes all difficulties for the household. May he protect us from harm and misfortune, for us who praise and for our generous ones.
त्वं वरुण उत मित्रो अग्ने त्वां वर्धन्ति मतिभिर्वसिष्ठाः । त्वे वसु सुषणनानि सन्तु यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
You, Agni, are Varuṇa and Mitra; Vasiṣṭhas exalt you with their thoughts. May there be abundant wealth in you. May you all always guard us with blessings.
प्राग्नये विश्वशुचे धियंधेऽसुरघ्ने मन्म धीतिं भरध्वम् । भरे हविर्न बर्हिषि प्रीणानो वैश्वानराय यतये मतीनाम्
To Agni, all-purifying, we direct our thought; to the slayer of demons, offer your hymn and prayer. Bringing the offering, delighting at the altar, to Vaiśvānara, the leader of thoughts.
त्वमग्ने शोचिषा शोशुचान आ रोदसी अपृणा जायमानः । त्वं देवाँ अभिशस्तेरमुञ्चो वैश्वानर जातवेदो महित्वा
You, Agni, shining with your flame, fill heaven and earth as you are born. You, O Vaiśvānara, Jātavedas, release us from curses by your greatness.
