श्रेष्ठं यविष्ठमतिथिं स्वाहुतं जुष्टं जनाय दाशुषे । देवाँ अच्छा यातवे जातवेदसमग्निमीळे व्युष्टिषु
The best, youngest, guest, well-invoked, beloved by the worshipper; to the gods, for their coming, I praise Jātavedas Agni in the dawns.
स्तविष्यामि त्वामहं विश्वस्यामृत भोजन । अग्ने त्रातारममृतं मियेध्य यजिष्ठं हव्यवाहन
I will praise you, O immortal, for all the immortal food; Agni, protector, immortal, wise, most fit for worship, carrier of offerings.
सुशंसो बोधि गृणते यविष्ठ्य मधुजिह्वः स्वाहुतः । प्रस्कण्वस्य प्रतिरन्नायुर्जीवसे नमस्या दैव्यं जनम्
O youngest one, become well-disposed to the singer, O sweet-tongued, well-invoked one; for the sake of Praskaṇva, bring forth food and long life, let us honor the divine assembly.
होतारं विश्ववेदसं सं हि त्वा विश इन्धते । स आ वह पुरुहूत प्रचेतसोऽग्ने देवाँ इह द्रवत्
The knower of all, the Hotar, you are kindled by the people; you, O much-invoked, wise Agni, bring here the gods, let them hasten here.
सवितारमुषसमश्विना भगमग्निं व्युष्टिषु क्षपः । कण्वासस्त्वा सुतसोमास इन्धते हव्यवाहं स्वध्वर
At the dawns, the Kaṇvas, with pressed Soma, kindle you, Agni, the bringer of offerings, together with Savitar, Uṣas, the Aśvins, Bhaga, as the nights end.
पतिर्ह्यध्वराणामग्ने दूतो विशामसि । उषर्बुध आ वह सोमपीतये देवाँ अद्य स्वर्दृशः
You are the lord of the rituals, Agni, the messenger among the people; awakened at dawn, bring the gods today, seers of the sun, to drink Soma.
अग्ने पूर्वा अनूषसो विभावसो दीदेथ विश्वदर्शतः । असि ग्रामेष्वविता पुरोहितोऽसि यज्ञेषु मानुषः
Agni, shining one, you blaze forth before the dawns, all-seeing; you are the protector in the gatherings, the chief priest, you are the human priest at the sacrifices.
नि त्वा यज्ञस्य साधनमग्ने होतारमृत्विजम् । मनुष्वद्देव धीमहि प्रचेतसं जीरं दूतममर्त्यम्
We appoint you, Agni, as the accomplisher of the sacrifice, as Hotar and officiant; like Manu, O god, we think of you, wise, ancient, immortal messenger.
यद्देवानां मित्रमहः पुरोहितोऽन्तरो यासि दूत्यम् । सिन्धोरिव प्रस्वनितास ऊर्मयोऽग्नेर्भ्राजन्ते अर्चयः
When, as the friend of the gods, you go as the chief priest to carry the message, your flames, Agni, shine forth like the roaring waves of a river.
श्रुधि श्रुत्कर्ण वह्निभिर्देवैरग्ने सयावभिः । आ सीदन्तु बर्हिषि मित्रो अर्यमा प्रातर्यावाणो अध्वरम्
Hear, O Agni, with attentive ears, together with the gods and your companions; let Mitra and Aryaman, who travel at dawn, sit on the sacred grass at the sacrifice.
शृण्वन्तु स्तोमं मरुतः सुदानवोऽग्निजिह्वा ऋतावृधः । पिबतु सोमं वरुणो धृतव्रतोऽश्विभ्यामुषसा सजूः
Let the generous Maruts, whose tongues are fire, and who uphold the cosmic order, hear the hymn; let Varuṇa, firm in his vow, drink Soma, together with the Aśvins and Uṣas.
त्वमग्ने वसूँरिह रुद्राँ आदित्याँ उत । यजा स्वध्वरं जनं मनुजातं घृतप्रुषम्
You, Agni, are here the Vasus, the Rudras, and the Ādityas as well; worship the self-lawful assembly, the human-born, dripping with ghee.
श्रुष्टीवानो हि दाशुषे देवा अग्ने विचेतसः । तान्रोहिदश्व गिर्वणस्त्रयस्त्रिंशतमा वह
For you are attentive to the worshipper, O wise gods, O Agni; O red-horsed, song-loving one, bring those thirty-three here.
प्रियमेधवदत्रिवज्जातवेदो विरूपवत् । अङ्गिरस्वन्महिव्रत प्रस्कण्वस्य श्रुधी हवम्
Like Priyamedha, like Atri, O knower of beings, like Virūpa, O great-vowed Angiras, hear the call of Praskaṇva.
महिकेरव ऊतये प्रियमेधा अहूषत । राजन्तमध्वराणामग्निं शुक्रेण शोचिषा
For great help, Priyamedha has called you; Agni, king of the rituals, with bright flame.
घृताहवन सन्त्येमा उ षु श्रुधी गिरः । याभिः कण्वस्य सूनवो हवन्तेऽवसे त्वा
These invocations are offered with ghee; hear them, by which the sons of Kaṇva call you for help.
त्वां चित्रश्रवस्तम हवन्ते विक्षु जन्तवः । शोचिष्केशं पुरुप्रियाग्ने हव्याय वोळ्हवे
You, most famed, are called by the people in the tribes; O Agni, with radiant hair, beloved by many, for carrying the offering.
नि त्वा होतारमृत्विजं दधिरे वसुवित्तमम् । श्रुत्कर्णं सप्रथस्तमं विप्रा अग्ने दिविष्टिषु
As Hotar and officiant, the wise have established you, bestower of wealth, most renowned, O Agni, with attentive ears, among the divine hosts.
आ त्वा विप्रा अचुच्यवुः सुतसोमा अभि प्रयः । बृहद्भा बिभ्रतो हविरग्ने मर्ताय दाशुषे
To you, O Agni, the wise, with pressed Soma, have come with their offering, bearing abundant oblation for the mortal worshipper.
प्रातर्याव्णः सहस्कृत सोमपेयाय सन्त्य । इहाद्य दैव्यं जनं बर्हिरा सादया वसो
Let those who travel at dawn, powerful, partake of Soma; today, O gracious one, seat the divine assembly here on the sacred grass.
अर्वाञ्चं दैव्यं जनमग्ने यक्ष्व सहूतिभिः । अयं सोमः सुदानवस्तं पात तिरोअह्न्यम्
Agni, bring the divine assembly here with your invocations; this Soma, O generous one, drink it beyond the day.
एषो उषा अपूर्व्या व्युच्छति प्रिया दिवः । स्तुषे वामश्विना बृहत्
This new Dawn is shining forth, beloved of the sky; I praise you, Ashvins, with a lofty hymn.
या दस्रा सिन्धुमातरा मनोतरा रयीणाम् । धिया देवा वसुविदा
You two wondrous ones, children of the river, bestowers of wealth, O gods, knowing riches through wisdom.
वच्यन्ते वां ककुहासो जूर्णायामधि विष्टपि । यद्वां रथो विभिष्पतात्
Your praises are spoken on the summits of the aged earth, when your chariot, O Ashvins, is set in motion.
हविषा जारो अपां पिपर्ति पपुरिर्नरा । पिता कुटस्य चर्षणिः
With the offering, the lover of the waters is satisfied, the purifier, O men; the father of the house, the protector of people.
आदारो वां मतीनां नासत्या मतवचसा । पातं सोमस्य धृष्णुया
You are the supports of thoughts, O Nasatyas, with wise speech; drink the Soma with strength.
या नः पीपरदश्विना ज्योतिष्मती तमस्तिरः । तामस्मे रासाथामिषम्
You Ashvins, who have filled us with light, driving away darkness; grant us food in this way.
आ नो नावा मतीनां यातं पाराय गन्तवे । युञ्जाथामश्विना रथम्
Come to us with the ship of thoughts, to carry us across; yoke your chariot, O Ashvins.
अरित्रं वां दिवस्पृथु तीर्थे सिन्धूनां रथः । धिया युयुज्र इन्दवः
Your oar is broad as the sky, your chariot at the ford of the rivers; with wisdom the drops have yoked it.
दिवस्कण्वास इन्दवो वसु सिन्धूनां पदे । स्वं वव्रिं कुह धित्सथः
The drops of Kanva, O wealth-givers, at the place of the rivers; where do you seek your own hidden place?
