ता भुज्युं विभिरद्भ्यः समुद्रात्तुग्रस्य सूनुमूहथू रजोभिः । अरेणुभिर्योजनेभिर्भुजन्ता पतत्रिभिरर्णसो निरुपस्थात्
They rescued Bhujyu, son of Tugra, from the waters, from the sea, with their chariot, crossing distances with dustless paths, with flying birds, they brought him safely.
वि जयुषा रथ्या यातमद्रिं श्रुतं हवं वृषणा वध्रिमत्याः । दशस्यन्ता शयवे पिप्यथुर्गामिति च्यवाना सुमतिं भुरण्यू
With victorious chariot, you two, O mighty ones, went to the mountain at the call of Vadhrimati; granting favor to the one who lies down, you filled the cows, O generous ones, bringing good fortune.
यद्रोदसी प्रदिवो अस्ति भूमा हेळो देवानामुत मर्त्यत्रा । तदादित्या वसवो रुद्रियासो रक्षोयुजे तपुरघं दधात
Whatever greatness of heaven and earth is in the highest sky, or among the gods or mortals, that, O Adityas, Vasus, Rudras, you place as a burning weapon against the demon.
य ईं राजानावृतुथा विदधद्रजसो मित्रो वरुणश्चिकेतत् । गम्भीराय रक्षसे हेतिमस्य द्रोघाय चिद्वचस आनवाय
He who, as king, wisely rules the spaces—Mitra and Varuna know this—deep for protection, for the weapon, even against the deceitful, for the word, for the one who brings harm.
अन्तरैश्चक्रैस्तनयाय वर्तिर्द्युमता यातं नृवता रथेन । सनुत्येन त्यजसा मर्त्यस्य वनुष्यतामपि शीर्षा ववृक्तम्
With your wheel, come for our offspring, with your shining, man-bearing chariot; with your strength, drive away the enemy of man, even if he is strong, cut off his head.
आ परमाभिरुत मध्यमाभिर्नियुद्भिर्यातमवमाभिरर्वाक् । दृळ्हस्य चिद्गोमतो वि व्रजस्य दुरो वर्तं गृणते चित्रराती
Come with your bands from the highest, the middle, and the lowest realms; break open even the strong, cattle-rich enclosure for the singer, O generous ones.
क्व त्या वल्गू पुरुहूताद्य दूतो न स्तोमोऽविदन्नमस्वान् । आ यो अर्वाङ्नासत्या ववर्त प्रेष्ठा ह्यसथो अस्य मन्मन्
Where now are those splendid ones, O much-invoked, whom the hymn as messenger did not find among the unworthy? Those two Asvins, who turn toward us, are most beloved; indeed, the thought of this one is steadfast for them.
अरं मे गन्तं हवनायास्मै गृणाना यथा पिबाथो अन्धः । परि ह त्यद्वर्तिर्याथो रिषो न यत्परो नान्तरस्तुतुर्यात्
Come to me for the offering, as those who praise you, so that you may drink the Soma. Let your course circle around, as you go, unharmed; let nothing else hinder or interrupt your praise.
अकारि वामन्धसो वरीमन्नस्तारि बर्हिः सुप्रायणतमम् । उत्तानहस्तो युवयुर्ववन्दा वां नक्षन्तो अद्रय आञ्जन्
A path has been made for the Soma-drinker; the sacred grass has been spread, most suitable for your approach. With hands raised, the youthful one has honored you; the stones, shining, have marked your arrival.
ऊर्ध्वो वामग्निरध्वरेष्वस्थात्प्र रातिरेति जूर्णिनी घृताची । प्र होता गूर्तमना उराणोऽयुक्त यो नासत्या हवीमन्
Your Agni stands upright in the rituals; the offering flows, adorned with ghee. The priest, eager-minded, moves forward; he has yoked the oblation for you, O Asvins.
अधि श्रिये दुहिता सूर्यस्य रथं तस्थौ पुरुभुजा शतोतिम् । प्र मायाभिर्मायिना भूतमत्र नरा नृतू जनिमन्यज्ञियानाम्
For glory, the daughter of the Sun, possessing much, stood upon the chariot with a hundred powers. By their magic, the magicians have acted here; O men, the dancers are born among the worshippers.
युवं श्रीभिर्दर्शताभिराभिः शुभे पुष्टिमूहथुः सूर्यायाः । प्र वां वयो वपुषेऽनु पप्तन्नक्षद्वाणी सुष्टुता धिष्ण्या वाम्
You have brought beauty and radiance, splendid, to the daughter of the Sun. Your swift horses have followed for your glory; the praised speech, O lords of the altar, has marked your arrival.
आ वां वयोऽश्वासो वहिष्ठा अभि प्रयो नासत्या वहन्तु । प्र वां रथो मनोजवा असर्जीषः पृक्ष इषिधो अनु पूर्वीः
Your swift horses and chariots, O Asvins, have carried you here. Your mind-speeding chariot has been sent forth, eager, urging on the earlier ones.
पुरु हि वां पुरुभुजा देष्णं धेनुं न इषं पिन्वतमसक्राम् । स्तुतश्च वां माध्वी सुष्टुतिश्च रसाश्च ये वामनु रातिमग्मन्
Indeed, you, possessing much, have nourished abundant gifts like a cow, bestowing wealth repeatedly. Praised are your honeyed and excellent praises, and those who have followed your generosity have come.
उत म ऋज्रे पुरयस्य रघ्वी सुमीळ्हे शतं पेरुके च पक्वा । शाण्डो दाद्धिरणिनः स्मद्दिष्टीन्दश वशासो अभिषाच ऋष्वान्
And to me, in the city of the swift, a hundred cooked dishes and a hundred in the granary have been given. Shanda has given the wealth of the generous, ten fat cows, and has overcome the mighty ones.
सं वां शता नासत्या सहस्राश्वानां पुरुपन्था गिरे दात् । भरद्वाजाय वीर नू गिरे दाद्धता रक्षांसि पुरुदंससा स्युः
A hundred and a thousand horses, O Asvins, have been given along the many paths of the mountain. Now, O hero, give to Bharadvaja on the mountain; let the destroyers be defeated by your abundant power.
आ वां सुम्ने वरिमन्सूरिभिः ष्याम्
May we attain your favor, your broad path, with the noble ones.
उदु श्रिय उषसो रोचमाना अस्थुरपां नोर्मयो रुशन्तः । कृणोति विश्वा सुपथा सुगान्यभूदु वस्वी दक्षिणा मघोनी
The radiant splendors of the dawns have arisen, shining, standing upon the waters, their horses gleaming. She makes all good paths and easy ways; the generous reward has become abundant.
भद्रा ददृक्ष उर्विया वि भास्युत्ते शोचिर्भानवो द्यामपप्तन् । आविर्वक्षः कृणुषे शुम्भमानोषो देवि रोचमाना महोभिः
Beautiful to behold, you shine widely; your rays, O dawn, have spread to the sky. Revealing your form, you make it bright, O goddess dawn, shining with your greatness.
वहन्ति सीमरुणासो रुशन्तो गावः सुभगामुर्विया प्रथानाम् । अपेजते शूरो अस्तेव शत्रून्बाधते तमो अजिरो न वोळ्हा
The red horses carry her, shining, spreading good fortune widely. The hero drives away enemies like a spear, dispels darkness, swift as a carrier.
सुगोत ते सुपथा पर्वतेष्ववाते अपस्तरसि स्वभानो । सा न आ वह पृथुयामन्नृष्वे रयिं दिवो दुहितरिषयध्यै
Your good path, your easy way, is on the mountains; you drive away darkness with your own light. Bring to us, O daughter of heaven, abundant wealth for our nourishment.
सा वह योक्षभिरवातोषो वरं वहसि जोषमनु । त्वं दिवो दुहितर्या ह देवी पूर्वहूतौ मंहना दर्शता भूः
With yoked horses, you bring the best, O dawn; you carry the desired gift with joy. You, O goddess, daughter of heaven, are glorious in the ancient invocation, splendid to behold.
उत्ते वयश्चिद्वसतेरपप्तन्नरश्च ये पितुभाजो व्युष्टौ । अमा सते वहसि भूरि वाममुषो देवि दाशुषे मर्त्याय
Even the birds of the dwelling have flown up, and those men who share in the father at the dawn. You bring much to us at home, O goddess dawn, for the worshipping mortal.
एषा स्या नो दुहिता दिवोजाः क्षितीरुच्छन्ती मानुषीरजीगः । या भानुना रुशता राम्यास्वज्ञायि तिरस्तमसश्चिदक्तून्
This is she, our daughter of heaven, born shining, rising among the peoples, human and divine. She, radiant with her light, beautiful, is recognized even beyond the darkness and the nights.
वि तद्ययुररुणयुग्भिरश्वैश्चित्रं भान्त्युषसश्चन्द्ररथाः । अग्रं यज्ञस्य बृहतो नयन्तीर्वि ता बाधन्ते तम ऊर्म्यायाः
The radiant dawns, with their red-yoked horses, shine forth in splendor; their moon-like chariots lead the way for the great sacrifice. They drive away the darkness of the waves.
श्रवो वाजमिषमूर्जं वहन्तीर्नि दाशुष उषसो मर्त्याय । मघोनीर्वीरवत्पत्यमाना अवो धात विधते रत्नमद्य
The dawns bring glory, strength, nourishment, and vigor for the worshipper, for mortals. Generous, they grant heroic offspring; today, bestow the precious gift upon the one who offers.
इदा हि वो विधते रत्नमस्तीदा वीराय दाशुष उषासः । इदा विप्राय जरते यदुक्था नि ष्म मावते वहथा पुरा चित्
Now, indeed, you dawns have bestowed the precious gift; now, for the hero, for the worshipper. Now, for the inspired poet, when he recites hymns, you have always carried it for the seeker, even from ancient times.
इदा हि त उषो अद्रिसानो गोत्रा गवामङ्गिरसो गृणन्ति । व्यर्केण बिभिदुर्ब्रह्मणा च सत्या नृणामभवद्देवहूतिः
Now, indeed, O dawns, the Angiras praise you for the cattle, for the cows. With the sun's ray and with prayer, they broke through; true was the invocation of men to the gods.
उच्छा दिवो दुहितः प्रत्नवन्नो भरद्वाजवद्विधते मघोनि । सुवीरं रयिं गृणते रिरीह्युरुगायमधि धेहि श्रवो नः
Rise, O daughter of heaven, ancient, like Bharadvāja, generous to the worshipper. Grant us abundant wealth and heroic strength; place glory upon us, wide-famed.
वपुर्नु तच्चिकितुषे चिदस्तु समानं नाम धेनु पत्यमानम् । मर्तेष्वन्यद्दोहसे पीपाय सकृच्छुक्रं दुदुहे पृश्निरूधः
Let that form be known to the wise—one name, the cow, is common, yet she is distributed. For mortals, she yields another for milking; once, the bright one, Pṛśni, gave milk.
