They harness the spotted, the ruddy one, moving around those who stand still; the lights shine in the sky.
They harness his beloved steeds, the two bay ones, to the chariot with wings; the red, bold, bearing men.
Making a banner for the un-bannered, a form for the unformed; you were born together with the shining ones.
Then, according to their nature, they again desired to be reborn; holding the name of the one worthy of sacrifice.
Indra, with your fires you have split even what is fallen, and with your powers you have found the cows hidden away.
As those devoted to the gods, bringing forth their song, have discovered wealth, so, O renowned one, may we obtain your favor.
For, joined with Indra, you are seen advancing together, fearless, both sharing the same brilliance.
The powerful sacrifice shines forth with flawless praises, with the desired bands of Indra.
From here, O guardian, come to us, or from the shining realm of heaven; to this place the songs are drawn.
Or from here we seek the path, or from the heaven above the earth; we seek Indra from the great expanse.
To Indra, the singers raise their voice; to Indra, those with hymns and praises; to Indra, the chants are directed.
Indra, together with the two bay steeds, yoked with speech, the wielder of the golden thunderbolt, is kindled.
Indra made the sun rise in the sky for far-seeing vision; with the cows he split the mountain.
Indra, protect us in battles and in contests for a thousand prizes, O mighty one, with your strong aids.
We call upon Indra, the possessor of great wealth, we call Indra in youth, the wielder of the thunderbolt against the Vṛtras.
May you, O bull, increase this pleasing offering for us at the gathering, O bringer of food, unconquered for us.
Whoever, in later times, offers praises to Indra the thunderer, does not find his favor in vain.
Like a bull among the herd, he stirs the peoples with his might, the lord, unconquered.
He alone among men rules over the treasures; Indra, lord of the five peoples.
We call upon Indra from all peoples; may he be ours alone.
O Indra, bring us abundant, victorious, ever-strengthening wealth for our aid.
By which, with the blow of the fist, you have struck down the Vṛtras; by your help, the obstacles are laid low.
O Indra, with your help may we take up the thunderbolt and shatter our foes; may we conquer all rivals in battle.
With brave companions and strong allies, O Indra, joined with you, may we overcome those who attack us.
Great is Indra, and let his greatness ever increase; for the wielder of the thunderbolt, his might is as vast as the sky.
Whether men seek the gathering of offspring or the wise pursue insight, let them rely on you.
He whose belly, eager for Soma, swells like the sea, whose form is broad like the waters' crest.
Thus his gracious bounty is vast, shining, and rich in cattle, like a ripened branch for the worshipper.
So, O Indra, your powers and aids are ever present for the worshipper, even instantly for the one who serves.
Thus his praise and hymn are desirable, to be recited for Indra at the Soma-drinking.
