इन्द्राग्नी को अस्य वां देवौ मर्तश्चिकेतति । विषूचो अश्वान्युयुजान ईयत एकः समान आ रथे
Indra and Agni, which mortal truly knows your nature? Harnessing swift horses, one of you rides, both together on the same chariot.
इन्द्राग्नी अपादियं पूर्वागात्पद्वतीभ्यः । हित्वी शिरो जिह्वया वावदच्चरत्त्रिंशत्पदा न्यक्रमीत्
Indra and Agni, this being came forth before the footed ones; having cast off its head, it spoke with its tongue, and with thirty feet it moved down.
इन्द्राग्नी आ हि तन्वते नरो धन्वानि बाह्वोः । मा नो अस्मिन्महाधने परा वर्क्तं गविष्टिषु
Indra and Agni, men stretch their bows on your behalf with their arms. Do not turn us away from this great wealth in our striving for cattle.
इन्द्राग्नी तपन्ति माघा अर्यो अरातयः । अप द्वेषांस्या कृतं युयुतं सूर्यादधि
Indra and Agni, the Māghas, noble ones, burn, and the hostile ones are far off. Remove our hatreds, grant us victory over the Sun.
इन्द्राग्नी युवोरपि वसु दिव्यानि पार्थिवा । आ न इह प्र यच्छतं रयिं विश्वायुपोषसम्
Indra and Agni, yours are the divine and earthly treasures. Grant us here all wealth, the nourishment that supports all.
इन्द्राग्नी उक्थवाहसा स्तोमेभिर्हवनश्रुता । विश्वाभिर्गीर्भिरा गतमस्य सोमस्य पीतये
Indra and Agni, bearers of praise, renowned through hymns and called by invocation, come with all songs to drink of this Soma.
श्नथद्वृत्रमुत सनोति वाजमिन्द्रा यो अग्नी सहुरी सपर्यात् । इरज्यन्ता वसव्यस्य भूरेः सहस्तमा सहसा वाजयन्ता
He who worships both Indra and Agni, the mighty, who slays Vṛtra and grants strength, who are to be served together—he attains the abundance of the generous, the most powerful, victorious by force.
ता योधिष्टमभि गा इन्द्र नूनमपः स्वरुषसो अग्न ऊळ्हाः । दिशः स्वरुषस इन्द्र चित्रा अपो गा अग्ने युवसे नियुत्वान्
Those two, O Indra, are to be invoked now, who have brought the cows, O Agni, from the shining waters. O Indra, from the shining quarters, send forth the brilliant waters; O Agni, bring the cows, accompanied by your hosts.
आ वृत्रहणा वृत्रहभिः शुष्मैरिन्द्र यातं नमोभिरग्ने अर्वाक् । युवं राधोभिरकवेभिरिन्द्राग्ने अस्मे भवतमुत्तमेभिः
Come, O slayers of Vṛtra, with your Vṛtra-slaying powers, O Indra and Agni, come near with reverence. With your gifts, with your protection, O Indra and Agni, be for us with your highest favors.
ता हुवे ययोरिदं पप्ने विश्वं पुरा कृतम् । इन्द्राग्नी न मर्धतः
I call upon those two by whom all this, done long ago, was accomplished. Indra and Agni, you are not to be overcome.
उग्रा विघनिना मृध इन्द्राग्नी हवामहे । ता नो मृळात ईदृशे
O mighty Indra and Agni, breakers of obstacles in battle, we call upon you; grant us favor in such circumstances.
हतो वृत्राण्यार्या हतो दासानि सत्पती । हतो विश्वा अप द्विषः
You have slain the hostile ones, O lords of truth; you have destroyed the enemies, you have removed all adversaries.
इन्द्राग्नी युवामिमेऽभि स्तोमा अनूषत । पिबतं शम्भुवा सुतम्
Indra and Agni, these praises have been offered to you; drink the pressed Soma, bringers of happiness.
या वां सन्ति पुरुस्पृहो नियुतो दाशुषे नरा । इन्द्राग्नी ताभिरा गतम्
Whatever aids you possess, many and varied, O heroic ones, bring them to the worshipper, Indra and Agni.
ताभिरा गच्छतं नरोपेदं सवनं सुतम् । इन्द्राग्नी सोमपीतये
With those aids, O heroes, come to this Soma offering; Indra and Agni, for the drinking of Soma.
तमीळिष्व यो अर्चिषा वना विश्वा परिष्वजत् । कृष्णा कृणोति जिह्वया
Invoke him whose flame embraces all forests, who makes them black with his tongue.
य इद्ध आविवासति सुम्नमिन्द्रस्य मर्त्यः । द्युम्नाय सुतरा अपः
Whoever, O mortal, invokes the favor of Indra with kindled fire, for glory, gains abundant waters.
ता नो वाजवतीरिष आशून्पिपृतमर्वतः । इन्द्रमग्निं च वोळ्हवे
May those swift, prize-bearing gifts nourish our horses; I invoke Indra and Agni for you.
उभा वामिन्द्राग्नी आहुवध्या उभा राधसः सह मादयध्यै । उभा दाताराविषां रयीणामुभा वाजस्य सातये हुवे वाम्
Both of you, Indra and Agni, are to be called; both together bring joy with wealth; both are givers of visible riches, both I invoke for the attainment of strength.
आ नो गव्येभिरश्व्यैर्वसव्यैरुप गच्छतम् । सखायौ देवौ सख्याय शम्भुवेन्द्राग्नी ता हवामहे
Come to us with cows, horses, and treasures; as friends, O divine companions, for friendship and happiness, Indra and Agni, we call upon you.
इन्द्राग्नी शृणुतं हवं यजमानस्य सुन्वतः । वीतं हव्यान्या गतं पिबतं सोम्यं मधु
Indra and Agni, listen to the call of the sacrificer who presses Soma; accept the offerings, come, and drink the sweet Soma.
इयमददाद्रभसमृणच्युतं दिवोदासं वध्र्यश्वाय दाशुषे । या शश्वन्तमाचखादावसं पणिं ता ते दात्राणि तविषा सरस्वति
This Sarasvati, powerful and unyielding, gave gifts to Divodasa and the generous Vadhryashva; she who always protected from the greedy Panis, those are your mighty gifts, Sarasvati.
इयं शुष्मेभिर्बिसखा इवारुजत्सानु गिरीणां तविषेभिरूर्मिभिः । पारावतघ्नीमवसे सुवृक्तिभिः सरस्वतीमा विवासेम धीतिभिः
She, with her strength, broke through the mountain slopes like a lotus stalk, with powerful waves; for help against enemies, with splendid praises, let us invoke Sarasvati with our thoughts.
सरस्वति देवनिदो नि बर्हय प्रजां विश्वस्य बृसयस्य मायिनः । उत क्षितिभ्योऽवनीरविन्दो विषमेभ्यो अस्रवो वाजिनीवति
Sarasvati, dwelling among the gods, spread out the offspring of the mighty magician; and from the earth she drew forth waters, from uneven places, in the rich land.
प्र णो देवी सरस्वती वाजेभिर्वाजिनीवती । धीनामवित्र्यवतु
May the goddess Sarasvati, rich in horses and strength, protect us, the inspirer of thoughts.
यस्त्वा देवि सरस्वत्युपब्रूते धने हिते । इन्द्रं न वृत्रतूर्ये
Whoever, O goddess Sarasvati, approaches you for wealth and prosperity, is like Indra in victory over obstacles.
त्वं देवि सरस्वत्यवा वाजेषु वाजिनि । रदा पूषेव नः सनिम्
You, O goddess Sarasvati, aid us in contests, rich in strength; grant us favor like Pūshan.
उत स्या नः सरस्वती घोरा हिरण्यवर्तनिः । वृत्रघ्नी वष्टि सुष्टुतिम्
May Sarasvati, fierce, with golden path, be for us; the slayer of obstacles, she desires our praise.
यस्या अनन्तो अह्रुतस्त्वेषश्चरिष्णुरर्णवः । अमश्चरति रोरुवत्
Of her, the endless, unceasing, mighty, moving, roaring flood, the strong one moves, resounding.
सा नो विश्वा अति द्विषः स्वसॄरन्या ऋतावरी । अतन्नहेव सूर्यः
May she, righteous among her sisters, pass beyond all our haters, shining forth like the Sun.
