Whoever directs Pūṣan as 'karambha', I do not acknowledge that god by such direction.
Yet he is the most skilled charioteer, a true companion, a good lord; Indra slays the foes with him.
And the sun placed the golden wheel on the spotted cow; the most skilled charioteer set it down.
Whatever we speak to you today, O much-praised, wondrous one, O wise, accomplish that thought for us.
Grant us this search for the cow, this group for attainment; Pūṣan, you are renowned from afar.
We seek your blessing, we approach you from afar for wealth; today and for all tomorrows, and tomorrow for all tomorrows.
We call upon Indra and Pūṣan for friendship and well-being, for the gaining of strength.
One desires Soma, the pressed juice of the camvas, for drinking; another desires karambha.
Goats are the fires of one, horses are gathered for another; with these two, he slays the foes.
When Indra led forth the mighty, most vigorous waters, there Pūṣan was his companion.
We seek the favor of Pūṣan, as birds fly from the tree; and we grasp that of Indra as well.
We call upon Pūṣan, as a charioteer with reins; and upon mighty Indra for well-being.
Your brightness is one thing, your sacredness another; you are of two forms, O day and night, like the sky. Indeed, you possess all wondrous powers, self-sustaining; may your gracious favor, O Pūṣan, be here for us.
Unborn of mares, guardian of cattle, bestower of strength, inspirer of thought, you are established in all the worlds. Pūṣan, with loosened reins, surveys the broad expanses, the god moves, beholding all beings.
Those golden ships of yours, O Pūṣan, move within the ocean, travel through the midspace. With them you go on the mission of the Sun, made by desire, seeking fame.
Pūṣan, good companion, from heaven and earth, lord of plenty, mighty, wondrous in radiance—whom the gods gave to Sūryā, made by desire, powerful and beautiful.
Now I will proclaim your heroic deeds among the pressed offerings, those which you have accomplished. Your fathers, O Indra and Agni, destroyers of gods' foes, are slain, but you two live on.
Your greatness, Indra and Agni, is most powerful and supreme. You have the same origin, you are brothers, you are twins, and here you share the same mother.
Dwelling together at the pressed offering, like two horses yoked to the chariot, Indra and Agni, we call upon you for help, O wielders of the thunderbolt, O gods.
He who praises you, Indra and Agni, at the pressed offerings, you who grow by truth—speak words pleasing to us; like two strong ones, you never harm the gods nor anyone else.
Indra and Agni, which mortal truly knows your nature? Harnessing swift horses, one of you rides, both together on the same chariot.
Indra and Agni, this being came forth before the footed ones; having cast off its head, it spoke with its tongue, and with thirty feet it moved down.
Indra and Agni, men stretch their bows on your behalf with their arms. Do not turn us away from this great wealth in our striving for cattle.
Indra and Agni, the Māghas, noble ones, burn, and the hostile ones are far off. Remove our hatreds, grant us victory over the Sun.
Indra and Agni, yours are the divine and earthly treasures. Grant us here all wealth, the nourishment that supports all.
Indra and Agni, bearers of praise, renowned through hymns and called by invocation, come with all songs to drink of this Soma.
He who worships both Indra and Agni, the mighty, who slays Vṛtra and grants strength, who are to be served together—he attains the abundance of the generous, the most powerful, victorious by force.
Those two, O Indra, are to be invoked now, who have brought the cows, O Agni, from the shining waters. O Indra, from the shining quarters, send forth the brilliant waters; O Agni, bring the cows, accompanied by your hosts.
Come, O slayers of Vṛtra, with your Vṛtra-slaying powers, O Indra and Agni, come near with reverence. With your gifts, with your protection, O Indra and Agni, be for us with your highest favors.
I call upon those two by whom all this, done long ago, was accomplished. Indra and Agni, you are not to be overcome.
