For they are of highest splendor, they lead us across all difficulties; Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni, possessing strong rule, true in thought, kings by right, steadfast in truth.
May Indra, Earth, the nourishing land, Pūṣan, Bhaga, Aditi, the five peoples—may they, possessing good protection, self-sustaining, good guides, be our strong defenders and good guardians.
Now, as a priest, Bharadvāja seeks the divine abode, he attains the favor of the gods. Seated, the worshiper prospers; the one desiring the wealth of the gods offers praise.
Drive away that sinner, the foe, the thief, O Agni, the one who brings us distress. O lord of the good, make the path easy for him.
The pressing stones, O Soma, have longed for our friendship. Strike down the greedy Paṇi, for he is a wolf.
For you are generous, most powerful, victorious like Indra; make our paths easy, O guardians of the home.
May we find a path that leads to well-being, free from harm, by which one casts away all enemies and finds wealth.
I do not consider that by day or by earth, nor by sacrifice or by sacred grass, can one reach that; let the mighty mountains help him, let the worshiper of excessive sacrifice be brought low.
Whoever, O Maruts, thinks himself beyond us, or whoever seeks to obstruct the prayer being performed—let hardships and misfortunes befall him; let the sky itself burn against the hater of prayer.
What then, Soma, protector of prayer, if they call you the guardian against our curses? What then, if you see us being reviled? Aim your scorching weapon at the hater of prayer.
May those who are being born protect me; may the swelling rivers protect me; may the steadfast mountains protect me; may the ancestral fathers, honored by the gods, protect me.
May we always be of good mind, may we see the sun rising; so may the lord of treasures, best of helpers, come to us with the gods' favor.
May Indra come to us with the nearest help; Sarasvati, swelling with rivers; Parjanya, bringing joy with plants; Agni, well-praised and easily invoked, like a father.
All gods, come here, listen to this invocation of mine; be seated on this sacred grass.
Whoever among you gods is honored with an offering rich in ghee, all of you approach him together.
May the divine sons hear our songs, those who are immortal; may they be gracious to us.
All gods, grown strong through truth, who hear the invocations at the right times, may they enjoy the fitting offering.
May Indra, the host of Maruts, Tvashtar, Mitra, and Aryaman—may they accept these offerings of ours.
Agni, as Hotar, perform this sacrifice for us with skill, understanding the divine race.
All gods, listen to this invocation of mine—those who are in the midspace, those who are nearest in heaven; those with tongues of fire, or worthy of sacrifice, be seated on this sacred grass and rejoice.
Let all the worshipful gods listen to me—both heaven and earth, and the offspring of the waters, to my hymn. May I not speak words that are scattered; may we find fulfillment in your favor, O gods.
Whoever, of great might, whether born of the earth or the sky, dwell in the abode of the waters—may those gods grant us all life and light, and open wide the paths for us.
Agni and Parjanya, support my prayer in this invocation; be easily invoked and well-praised for us. Let one of you generate nourishment, the other offspring; grant us abundant, life-giving riches.
On the spread sacred grass, with Agni kindled, I call with a hymn and great reverence. In this assembly today, O worshipful gods, rejoice in the offering.
O Lord of the Path, like a chariot for the winning of prize, we harness you, O Pūṣan, to our thought.
Lead to us, O noble and generous one, the heroic, skillful, and gracious master of the house.
O compassionate Pūṣan, even if he is not generous, urge him to give; turn the mind of the miser toward liberality.
Clear the paths for the gaining of strength, scatter the foes, strike them down; let our strong thoughts succeed.
Surround the misers with confusion, O wise one, with your power; then make them yield to us.
O Pūṣan, strike the miser with your power, seek out what is dear in his heart; then make him yield to us.
