On whom, O gods, the two worlds depend, there Pūṣan, the eager sacrificer, exerts himself; having heard the call, O Maruts, when you come, the vast spaces tremble on the opened path.
To that hero, Indra, beloved of song, let the singer offer new praise with the hymn; may he hear the invocation, and, being praised, grant us riches, as one who is magnified.
O Waters, mothers of men, pure, grant us well-being for offspring and children; for you are the best physicians, mothers, creators of all that stands and moves, the origin of the world.
May the god Savitṛ, the protector, with golden hands, come here to the worshipper; who, generous, reveals the face of dawn, and bestows treasures upon the devotee.
And you, O son of strength, today, O god, may you be favorable to us in this sacrifice; may I always be your companion in battle, may I, O Agni, be strong with your help.
And may you two, O Nāsatyas, come to my call, you wise ones, with your thoughts; as you released Atri from the great darkness, rescue us, O men, from distress, into safety.
May those givers of wealth, shining, full of vigor, bestow upon us riches, renowned among men; may the divine and earthly, born of the cow, favor us, and be gracious, O gods.
May Rudra, Sarasvatī, united, be gracious to us, may Viṣṇu, Vāyu, and the bountiful ones show us mercy; may Ṛbhukṣa, the divine strength, the arranger, Parjanya and Vāta, fill us with nourishment.
And may the god Savitṛ, Bhaga, and the son of the waters, Dānu, protect us; may Tvaṣṭṛ, with the divine generations, united with the gods, and Heaven with the gods, Earth with the oceans, preserve us.
And may Ahibudhnya hear us, the serpent of the deep, the one-footed, Earth, and Ocean; may all the gods, upholders of truth, whom we invoke, the praised hymns, the wise ones, protect us.
Thus, the descendants of Bharadvāja honor him with their thoughts and with hymns; the divine Hotars, the Vasus, the invincible ones, all praised, have become worthy of worship.
That great, unfailing eye of Mitra and Varuṇa rises up, beloved of Varuṇa, pure, shining, most beautiful in form, like a golden ornament, it has blazed forth from the sky.
He who knows the three assemblies of these gods, the wise one, who is born again and again, sees straight among mortals and also sees the crooked; the sun, like Aryaman, surveys all.
I praise you, great guardians of truth: Aditi, Mitra, Varuṇa, nobly born; Aryaman, Bhaga, whose thoughts are unwavering—let me speak forth to you, radiant ones, who bring prosperity.
The destroyers of falsehood, true lords, unwavering, the generous donors of the great king, youthful, possessing strong rule, rulers of the sky—O Ādityas, I approach Aditi with reverence.
Heaven, our father; Earth, our mother, steadfast; Agni, our brother, O Vasus, be gracious to us. All Ādityas, together with Aditi, grant us wide protection.
Do not let the wolf or she-wolf harm us, nor let the worshipful ones bring us to misfortune. For you are our charioteers, guardians of our bodies; you are the upholders of wise speech.
Let us not suffer for another's offense, nor for any deed you Vasus may have done. For you, all-gods, rule over all; let the enemy not harm our own person.
Homage to the mighty, homage I proclaim; homage to him who upholds earth and sky. Homage to the gods, homage to their lord; even for a committed offense, I seek forgiveness with homage.
To you, charioteers of truth, pure in wisdom, unwavering, who dwell in the home of truth, I bow with reverence; to all the far-seeing, great, worshipful men, I bow with homage.
For they are of highest splendor, they lead us across all difficulties; Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni, possessing strong rule, true in thought, kings by right, steadfast in truth.
May Indra, Earth, the nourishing land, Pūṣan, Bhaga, Aditi, the five peoples—may they, possessing good protection, self-sustaining, good guides, be our strong defenders and good guardians.
Now, as a priest, Bharadvāja seeks the divine abode, he attains the favor of the gods. Seated, the worshiper prospers; the one desiring the wealth of the gods offers praise.
Drive away that sinner, the foe, the thief, O Agni, the one who brings us distress. O lord of the good, make the path easy for him.
The pressing stones, O Soma, have longed for our friendship. Strike down the greedy Paṇi, for he is a wolf.
For you are generous, most powerful, victorious like Indra; make our paths easy, O guardians of the home.
May we find a path that leads to well-being, free from harm, by which one casts away all enemies and finds wealth.
I do not consider that by day or by earth, nor by sacrifice or by sacred grass, can one reach that; let the mighty mountains help him, let the worshiper of excessive sacrifice be brought low.
Whoever, O Maruts, thinks himself beyond us, or whoever seeks to obstruct the prayer being performed—let hardships and misfortunes befall him; let the sky itself burn against the hater of prayer.
What then, Soma, protector of prayer, if they call you the guardian against our curses? What then, if you see us being reviled? Aim your scorching weapon at the hater of prayer.
