Heaven was born at once, earth was born at once; the milk that Pṛśni gave was yielded at once—no other is born after that.
I praise the noble people, Mitra and Varuṇa, of good vows, with fresh hymns, bringers of favor. May they come here, may they listen—Varuṇa, Mitra, and Agni, of excellent rule.
Worthy of praise by all, at every sacrifice, the youthful one, of unwearied will, the child of heaven, the son of strength—Agni, the sign of sacrifice, the shining one—let us worship.
The two daughters of the ruddy one, of different forms—one adorned herself among the women, the other, the sun, wandered apart. They move together, shining, may my hymn, as it is recited, reach them.
To Vāyu I direct my lofty thought, for abundant wealth, all-desirable, chariot-bearing. With shining steeds, leading the hosts, you, O wise one, approach the wise, worthy of worship.
That wondrous chariot of the Aśvins, adorned with gold, which you yoke with your minds—by which, O men, O Nāsatyas, you travel the path for offspring and for self—may it shelter me.
Parjanya and Vāta, bulls of the earth, fill the waters, the nourishing ones. Truth-hearing sages, by whose hymns you make the moving and the fixed, make the world firm.
Pāvīravī, the maiden of shining life, Sarasvatī, wife of heroes, bestow intelligence. With the goddesses, grant unbroken shelter, together, an invincible protection to the singer.
On every path, as guardian, with speech, Pūṣan, made by desire, approaches with radiance. May he grant us, with full hands, abundant, shining gifts, and fulfill our thoughts.
The first to receive honor, possessor of glory, giver of strength, the god with fair hands, with beautiful rays—Agni, the priest, let him worship, the adorable one of the dwellings, the radiant, the well-invoked, the shining one.
With hymns we magnify Rudra, father of the world, in the sky and in the sacrifice; the great, lofty, ageless, gracious one—may we call upon him, inspired by the sage.
Come, O youthful, worshipful Maruts, to the praise of the singer, to the desired place. For you indeed increase even the unremarkable, thus, observing, O men, you follow the path of the Angirases.
Let him, like a herdsman guarding cattle, come forth for the hero, for the mighty, for the swift; he touches the summit of praise with his form, like rivers reaching the height of speech.
He who measured the earthly realms, thrice, Viṣṇu, for Manu who was hard-pressed—may we rejoice in the shelter of that one, with body and with offspring, when wealth is bestowed.
May Ahibudhnya grant us that with the waters, may the Sun, may the Mountain, may Savitṛ bestow it upon us; may the givers of riches, the plants, Bhaga, and Puraṃdhi, incite us to wealth.
Now may he give us wealth with chariots, renowned among men, rich in heroes, great, the guardian of truth; by whom we may obtain undying dwelling among people, and overcome the godless, and enter into the divine hosts, and partake of the divine.
I invoke you, O divine Aditi, with reverence, for mercy—Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni; I call Aryaman, most gracious, the protecting gods, Savitṛ, and Bhaga.
With bright light, O Sun, lead our forefathers here, bring the great gods; those twice-born, upholders of truth, real, possessing heaven, worshipful, with tongues of fire.
And may Heaven and Earth, the wide, great, sheltering pair, grant us protection in their kindness; with their mighty chariot, as if making a path for us, may they grant us a secure home, free from harm.
May the sons of Rudra, the Vasus, invincible, whom we have invoked today, bow to us; whether they are placed among the young or the great, in distress, we call the Maruts, the gods.
On whom, O gods, the two worlds depend, there Pūṣan, the eager sacrificer, exerts himself; having heard the call, O Maruts, when you come, the vast spaces tremble on the opened path.
To that hero, Indra, beloved of song, let the singer offer new praise with the hymn; may he hear the invocation, and, being praised, grant us riches, as one who is magnified.
O Waters, mothers of men, pure, grant us well-being for offspring and children; for you are the best physicians, mothers, creators of all that stands and moves, the origin of the world.
May the god Savitṛ, the protector, with golden hands, come here to the worshipper; who, generous, reveals the face of dawn, and bestows treasures upon the devotee.
And you, O son of strength, today, O god, may you be favorable to us in this sacrifice; may I always be your companion in battle, may I, O Agni, be strong with your help.
And may you two, O Nāsatyas, come to my call, you wise ones, with your thoughts; as you released Atri from the great darkness, rescue us, O men, from distress, into safety.
May those givers of wealth, shining, full of vigor, bestow upon us riches, renowned among men; may the divine and earthly, born of the cow, favor us, and be gracious, O gods.
May Rudra, Sarasvatī, united, be gracious to us, may Viṣṇu, Vāyu, and the bountiful ones show us mercy; may Ṛbhukṣa, the divine strength, the arranger, Parjanya and Vāta, fill us with nourishment.
And may the god Savitṛ, Bhaga, and the son of the waters, Dānu, protect us; may Tvaṣṭṛ, with the divine generations, united with the gods, and Heaven with the gods, Earth with the oceans, preserve us.
And may Ahibudhnya hear us, the serpent of the deep, the one-footed, Earth, and Ocean; may all the gods, upholders of truth, whom we invoke, the praised hymns, the wise ones, protect us.
