असाम्योजो बिभृथा सुदानवोऽसामि धूतयः शवः । ऋषिद्विषे मरुतः परिमन्यव इषुं न सृजत द्विषम्
You bear unconquered strength, generous ones; your gifts and might are unconquered; O Maruts, hating the foe, shoot forth your arrow at the enemy.
उत्तिष्ठ ब्रह्मणस्पते देवयन्तस्त्वेमहे । उप प्र यन्तु मरुतः सुदानव इन्द्र प्राशूर्भवा सचा
Arise, O Brahmanaspati, we invoke you as divine; let the generous Maruts come near, and Indra, be manifest together with us.
त्वामिद्धि सहसस्पुत्र मर्त्य उपब्रूते धने हिते । सुवीर्यं मरुत आ स्वश्व्यं दधीत यो व आचके
To you alone, son of strength, does the mortal call when seeking wealth; may he who invokes you, Maruts, obtain heroic power and good horses.
प्रैतु ब्रह्मणस्पतिः प्र देव्येतु सूनृता । अच्छा वीरं नर्यं पङ्क्तिराधसं देवा यज्ञं नयन्तु नः
Let Brahmanaspati advance, let the goddess Good Speech advance; let the gods lead our sacrifice to the noble, manly, generous one, the giver of abundance.
यो वाघते ददाति सूनरं वसु स धत्ते अक्षिति श्रवः । तस्मा इळां सुवीरामा यजामहे सुप्रतूर्तिमनेहसम्
He who gives to the worshipper, O good men, wealth, he gains unfailing fame; for him we offer rich, heroic, blameless praise and abundant food.
प्र नूनं ब्रह्मणस्पतिर्मन्त्रं वदत्युक्थ्यम् । यस्मिन्निन्द्रो वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा देवा ओकांसि चक्रिरे
Now indeed Brahmanaspati speaks the hymn and the chant, in which Indra, Varuna, Mitra, Aryaman, the gods, have established their abodes.
तमिद्वोचेमा विदथेषु शम्भुवं मन्त्रं देवा अनेहसम् । इमां च वाचं प्रतिहर्यथा नरो विश्वेद्वामा वो अश्नवत्
Let us proclaim that auspicious, flawless hymn among the gatherings of the gods; and may you, O men, heed this speech, so that all desirable things may come to you.
को देवयन्तमश्नवज्जनं को वृक्तबर्हिषम् । प्रप्र दाश्वान्पस्त्याभिरस्थितान्तर्वावत्क्षयं दधे
Who among men, devoted to the gods, attains the one who spreads the sacred grass with praise? The generous one, established among his dwellings, has set up a lasting home.
उप क्षत्रं पृञ्चीत हन्ति राजभिर्भये चित्सुक्षितिं दधे । नास्य वर्ता न तरुता महाधने नार्भे अस्ति वज्रिणः
Approach power; it destroys even with kings, and in fear, grants a secure dwelling. For the wielder of the bolt, there is neither opponent nor rival, whether in great wealth or in youth.
यं रक्षन्ति प्रचेतसो वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा । नू चित्स दभ्यते जनः
The one whom the wise guardians, Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman protect—such a person is never harmed.
यं बाहुतेव पिप्रति पान्ति मर्त्यं रिषः । अरिष्टः सर्व एधते
The one whom, like strong arms, they shield—these gods guard the mortal from harm; he prospers unharmed in every way.
वि दुर्गा वि द्विषः पुरो घ्नन्ति राजान एषाम् । नयन्ति दुरिता तिरः
They scatter dangers and enemies; the kings of these people strike down their foes and lead troubles far away.
सुगः पन्था अनृक्षर आदित्यास ऋतं यते । नात्रावखादो अस्ति वः
The path of the Ādityas, who pursue truth, is easy and free from obstacles; there is no stumbling for you there.
यं यज्ञं नयथा नर आदित्या ऋजुना पथा । प्र वः स धीतये नशत्
O men, O Ādityas, you lead the sacrifice by the straight path; may it reach you for our devotion.
स रत्नं मर्त्यो वसु विश्वं तोकमुत त्मना । अच्छा गच्छत्यस्तृतः
That mortal, unopposed, attains all treasures, wealth, offspring, and life.
कथा राधाम सखाय स्तोमं मित्रस्यार्यम्णः । महि प्सरो वरुणस्य
How shall we, O friends, offer praise to Mitra and Aryaman, and the great expanse of Varuṇa?
मा वो घ्नन्तं मा शपन्तं प्रति वोचे देवयन्तम् । सुम्नैरिद्व आ विवासे
Let us not speak against you, nor curse you, O godly ones; with good thoughts alone do I approach you.
चतुरश्चिद्ददमानाद्बिभीयादा निधातोः । न दुरुक्ताय स्पृहयेत्
Even one who gives only four (cows) should fear the anger of the guardian; let him not desire harsh speech.
सं पूषन्नध्वनस्तिर व्यंहो विमुचो नपात् । सक्ष्वा देव प्र णस्पुरः
O Pūṣan, clear away the road for us, remove obstacles, O offspring of release; come, god, and lead us forward.
यो नः पूषन्नघो वृको दुःशेव आदिदेशति । अप स्म तं पथो जहि
O Pūṣan, whoever, whether evil or wolfish, intends harm against us—drive him away from our path.
अप त्यं परिपन्थिनं मुषीवाणं हुरश्चितम् । दूरमधि स्रुतेरज
Drive away that highwayman, the thief, the lurking one; cast him far from the path of hearing.
त्वं तस्य द्वयाविनोऽघशंसस्य कस्य चित् । पदाभि तिष्ठ तपुषिम्
You, standing with your foot, restrain the double-dealing, the evil-wisher, whoever he may be.
आ तत्ते दस्र मन्तुमः पूषन्नवो वृणीमहे । येन पितॄनचोदयः
Now, O wondrous Pūṣan, we choose your guidance, by which you rouse our ancestors.
अधा नो विश्वसौभग हिरण्यवाशीमत्तम । धनानि सुषणा कृधि
Then grant us all good fortune, O bestower of wealth with golden mane; make us rich in pleasant treasures.
अति नः सश्चतो नय सुगा नः सुपथा कृणु । पूषन्निह क्रतुं विदः
Lead us beyond obstacles, make our path easy and good; O Pūṣan, grant us understanding here.
अभि सूयवसं नय न नवज्वारो अध्वने । पूषन्निह क्रतुं विदः
Guide us to abundant pasture, let us not be weary on the journey; O Pūṣan, grant us understanding here.
शग्धि पूर्धि प्र यंसि च शिशीहि प्रास्युदरम् । पूषन्निह क्रतुं विदः
Give, nourish, and send forth your gifts; fill the vessel with plenty; O Pūṣan, grant us understanding here.
न पूषणं मेथामसि सूक्तैरभि गृणीमसि । वसूनि दस्ममीमहे
We do not insult Pūṣan; we praise him with hymns; we seek his treasures, the gracious gifts.
कद्रुद्राय प्रचेतसे मीळ्हुष्टमाय तव्यसे । वोचेम शंतमं हृदे
To the wise, mighty, and most generous Rudra, let us speak words most pleasing to the heart.
यथा नो अदितिः करत्पश्वे नृभ्यो यथा गवे । यथा तोकाय रुद्रियम्
As Aditi acts for us, for men, for cattle, so may she act for offspring, O Rudra.
