For he alone, song-loving and unaging, rules over all earthly treasures.
With your troops fill us with desire, with prizes, with horses, with cattle, O bold lord of cattle.
Sing that praise of yours at the pressing of the Soma, for the much-invoked, for the mighty, so that there may be well-being for the cow, as for the one who brings joy.
Indeed, the generous one does not withhold the gift of wealth abounding in cattle, when the songs reach him.
Perhaps he will go forth to the cattle-rich enclosure of the foe; with his powers, may he drive them away from us.
These very hymns, O hundred-powered one, reach out to you; O Indra, as mothers to a calf.
Your friendship, O hero, is sought for the sake of cattle; be a horse for the horse-seeker.
So delight in the Soma, for the sake of wealth and great strength; do not abandon the praiser to poverty.
These very hymns, at every pressing, long for you, O lover of song, as cows for a calf, as milch cows for their young.
The most bountiful of the many, let him make his praisers victorious with prizes.
May our praise, O Indra, be the most powerful and closest to you; drive great wealth to us.
Bṛbu stood on the highest head among the Paṇis, wide as the Gāṅgya plain.
His generous gift, swift as the wind, abundant in thousands, is quickly ready for giving.
Therefore, all the noble singers always praise Bṛbu, the thousand-giver, the lord who bestows thousands.
You alone we invoke, O Indra, for the prize of strength, we singers; you, lord of the good, in battles, you, O men, in every contest.
So you, O mighty one with the thunderbolt in hand, praised by us with strength, stone-splitter, scatter for us cows, horses, and chariots, O Indra, as you conquer the prize for the victor.
He who is the universal helper, the wise, that Indra we invoke; O thousand-powered, of mighty deeds, lord of the good, be our strength in battles.
You drive away people like a bull with your fury, eager, showering, singer; be our helper in great wealth, in our persons, in the waters, in the sun.
Indra, bring us the highest, the most powerful fame, O mighty one with the thunderbolt, by which, O bright one, you filled both shining worlds.
You, the strong, the helper of the tribes, the king among the gods, we invoke for aid; make all our adversaries easy to overcome, O bountiful one, make the unfriendly powerless.
O Indra, whatever strength and manliness you possess among the descendants of Nahusha, or whatever brilliance among the five peoples—bring all those powers together for us.
Or, O generous one, whatever heroic power you have among the Trikshas, Druhyus, Janas, Purus, or the Vṛṣṇis—grant that to us, O subduer of men, so that we may overcome enemies in battles.
Indra, grant us triple protection, threefold shelter, full of well-being; bestow your shield upon the generous and upon me, and drive away the lightning from these people.
Those who, with the desire for cattle, fiercely attack the enemy with boldness—O Indra, lover of song, be then our closest protector, present with your strength.
Be our strength, O Indra, and our support in battle; when in the sky the winged ones fly, the sharp-headed lightnings—keep them away from us.
Where heroes stretch out their bodies, spreading the beloved shelter of the fathers—there, grant protection to our persons and our kin, and drive away mindless hatred.
O Indra, when you urge on the horses at the contest for great wealth, on the uneven road, on the difficult path—may they speed like falcons seeking fame.
Like swift rivers rushing down a slope, as if following a call, as birds flock to food—so may those who are seized by the arms in the contest not turn back.
This Soma is indeed sweet, this is honeyed, this is strong, this is full of essence; and truly, no one who has drunk of it, O Indra, can withstand you in battles.
This sweet drink here is most delightful, from which Indra rejoiced in slaying Vritra; by which, in his youthful might, he destroyed ninety-nine cities of Shambara.
