अस्य पिब यस्य जज्ञान इन्द्र मदाय क्रत्वे अपिबो विरप्शिन् । तमु ते गावो नर आपो अद्रिरिन्दुं समह्यन्पीतये समस्मै
Drink of this, Indra, for which you were born, for delight, for power, you have drunk, O wide-seeing one. To you, the cows, the men, the waters, the mountain, have brought the Soma for drinking, for you alone.
समिद्धे अग्नौ सुत इन्द्र सोम आ त्वा वहन्तु हरयो वहिष्ठाः । त्वायता मनसा जोहवीमीन्द्रा याहि सुविताय महे नः
When the fire is kindled, Indra, the Soma pressed, let your best horses bring you here. With devoted mind I call you, Indra, come for our great welfare and blessing.
आ याहि शश्वदुशता ययाथेन्द्र महा मनसा सोमपेयम् । उप ब्रह्माणि शृणव इमा नोऽथा ते यज्ञस्तन्वे वयो धात्
Come, Indra, with constant longing, with great mind, to drink the Soma. Listen to these hymns of ours, then let the sacrifice grant vigor to your body.
यदिन्द्र दिवि पार्ये यदृधग्यद्वा स्वे सदने यत्र वासि । अतो नो यज्ञमवसे नियुत्वान्सजोषाः पाहि गिर्वणो मरुद्भिः
Wherever, Indra, you are in the heavenly realm, or in righteousness, or in your own abode, wherever you dwell—come here for our sacrifice, with your companions, drink, O singer, with the Maruts.
अहेळमान उप याहि यज्ञं तुभ्यं पवन्त इन्दवः सुतासः । गावो न वज्रिन्स्वमोको अच्छेन्द्रा गहि प्रथमो यज्ञियानाम्
Without hindrance, come to the sacrifice, for you the Soma juices are purified. Like cows, O wielder of the thunderbolt, in your own home, come, Indra, be the foremost among those worthy of sacrifice.
या ते काकुत्सुकृता या वरिष्ठा यया शश्वत्पिबसि मध्व ऊर्मिम् । तया पाहि प्र ते अध्वर्युरस्थात्सं ते वज्रो वर्ततामिन्द्र गव्युः
With that which is made for you by Kakutstha, with that which is best, with which you always drink the wave of honey—drink with it; the priest has placed it before you, let your thunderbolt, Indra, be ready for the cows.
एष द्रप्सो वृषभो विश्वरूप इन्द्राय वृष्णे समकारि सोमः । एतं पिब हरिव स्थातरुग्र यस्येशिषे प्रदिवि यस्ते अन्नम्
This drop, the bull, of all forms, Soma has been prepared for Indra, the mighty. Drink this, O golden one, steadfast and fierce, whose food you desire in the highest heaven.
सुतः सोमो असुतादिन्द्र वस्यानयं श्रेयाञ्चिकितुषे रणाय । एतं तितिर्व उप याहि यज्ञं तेन विश्वास्तविषीरा पृणस्व
The Soma is pressed, O Indra, for your delight, this one is better for the wise in battle. Come, Titirva, approach the sacrifice, with it fill all the powerful ones.
ह्वयामसि त्वेन्द्र याह्यर्वाङरं ते सोमस्तन्वे भवाति । शतक्रतो मादयस्वा सुतेषु प्रास्माँ अव पृतनासु प्र विक्षु
We call upon you, O Indra, come near; let this Soma be strength for your body. O hundred-powered one, rejoice in the pressings; may you bring us victory in battles and among the peoples.
प्रत्यस्मै पिपीषते विश्वानि विदुषे भर । अरंगमाय जग्मयेऽपश्चाद्दघ्वने नरे
Bring to him who desires to drink, who knows all things, everything, for his approach and journey; for the man who comes from afar, for the one who is eager.
एमेनं प्रत्येतन सोमेभिः सोमपातमम् । अमत्रेभिरृजीषिणमिन्द्रं सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः
With these Somas, approach him, the drinker of Soma; with the pressed juices, with the pure ones, Indra, the victorious, with the extracted drops.
यदी सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः सोमेभिः प्रतिभूषथ । वेदा विश्वस्य मेधिरो धृषत्तंतमिदेषते
When you adorn him with the pressed drops, with the Somas, the wise one knows all; the bold one, the woven thread, seeks him.
अस्माअस्मा इदन्धसोऽध्वर्यो प्र भरा सुतम् । कुवित्समस्य जेन्यस्य शर्धतोऽभिशस्तेरवस्परत्
For him, for him, O Adhvaryu, bring forth the pressed Soma; perhaps through the might of this powerful, conquering one, we shall overcome the attack of the hostile.
यस्य त्यच्छम्बरं मदे दिवोदासाय रन्धयः । अयं स सोम इन्द्र ते सुतः पिब
By whose exhilaration you broke Śambara for Divodāsa, this Soma, O Indra, is pressed for you—drink.
यस्य तीव्रसुतं मदं मध्यमन्तं च रक्षसे । अयं स सोम इन्द्र ते सुतः पिब
By whose strong, pressed exhilaration you protected the middle and the end, this Soma, O Indra, is pressed for you—drink.
यस्य गा अन्तरश्मनो मदे दृळ्हा अवासृजः । अयं स सोम इन्द्र ते सुतः पिब
By whose exhilaration among the cows you released the firm ones from the stone, this Soma, O Indra, is pressed for you—drink.
यस्य मन्दानो अन्धसो माघोनं दधिषे शवः । अयं स सोम इन्द्र ते सुतः पिब
By whose joy in the Soma you bore mighty power for the generous one, this Soma, O Indra, is pressed for you—drink.
यो रयिवो रयिंतमो यो द्युम्नैर्द्युम्नवत्तमः । सोमः सुतः स इन्द्र तेऽस्ति स्वधापते मदः
He who is the most bountiful of riches, who is most endowed with glory—this pressed Soma, O Indra, is your exhilaration, Lord of power.
यः शग्मस्तुविशग्म ते रायो दामा मतीनाम् । सोमः सुतः स इन्द्र तेऽस्ति स्वधापते मदः
He who is most liberal, most abundantly generous, the giver of wealth and wisdom—this pressed Soma, O Indra, is your exhilaration, Lord of power.
येन वृद्धो न शवसा तुरो न स्वाभिरूतिभिः । सोमः सुतः स इन्द्र तेऽस्ति स्वधापते मदः
By whom the strong is not overcome, nor the swift by their own aids—this pressed Soma, O Indra, is your exhilaration, Lord of power.
त्यमु वो अप्रहणं गृणीषे शवसस्पतिम् । इन्द्रं विश्वासाहं नरं मंहिष्ठं विश्वचर्षणिम्
That unconquered lord of might I praise for you, Indra, the all-powerful man, the greatest, the universal protector.
यं वर्धयन्तीद्गिरः पतिं तुरस्य राधसः । तमिन्न्वस्य रोदसी देवी शुष्मं सपर्यतः
Him whom the hymns magnify, the lord of abundant gifts, him the two divine worlds, the goddesses, honor for his strength.
तद्व उक्थस्य बर्हणेन्द्रायोपस्तृणीषणि । विपो न यस्योतयो वि यद्रोहन्ति सक्षितः
That seat of praise I spread for Indra; like rivers whose waves rush forth, where the dwellers move apart.
अविदद्दक्षं मित्रो नवीयान्पपानो देवेभ्यो वस्यो अचैत् । ससवान्स्तौलाभिर्धौतरीभिरुरुष्या पायुरभवत्सखिभ्यः
Mitra, ever new, discovered skill; drinking, he became the most generous among the gods. With the Taulā and Dhautari hymns, he became a wide protector for his friends.
ऋतस्य पथि वेधा अपायि श्रिये मनांसि देवासो अक्रन् । दधानो नाम महो वचोभिर्वपुर्दृशये वेन्यो व्यावः
On the path of truth, the wise one drank; for glory, the gods made their minds. Bearing the name of greatness, with words they fashioned a form for vision, the shining one, the weaver.
द्युमत्तमं दक्षं धेह्यस्मे सेधा जनानां पूर्वीररातीः । वर्षीयो वयः कृणुहि शचीभिर्धनस्य सातावस्माँ अविड्ढि
Bestow upon us the most radiant skill; drive away the ancient hostilities of men. Make our life longer with your powers; grant us the gaining of wealth—be mindful of us.
इन्द्र तुभ्यमिन्मघवन्नभूम वयं दात्रे हरिवो मा वि वेनः । नकिरापिर्ददृशे मर्त्यत्रा किमङ्ग रध्रचोदनं त्वाहुः
Indra, for you alone, O bountiful one, we have not failed in giving; O wielder of the tawny steeds, do not abandon us. No one else among mortals has been seen as generous; how then could anyone call you reluctant to give?
मा जस्वने वृषभ नो ररीथा मा ते रेवतः सख्ये रिषाम । पूर्वीष्ट इन्द्र निष्षिधो जनेषु जह्यसुष्वीन्प्र वृहापृणतः
Do not, O bull, turn away from us in your thunder; do not let us lose your friendship, O radiant one. Indra, grant us your ancient and new favors among people; drive away those who are hostile, and uplift those who praise you.
उदभ्राणीव स्तनयन्नियर्तीन्द्रो राधांस्यश्व्यानि गव्या । त्वमसि प्रदिवः कारुधाया मा त्वादामान आ दभन्मघोनः
Like thunder rising from the clouds, Indra brings forth wealth of horses and cattle. You are the giver from the heavens, O singer; let none who seeks your gifts, O generous one, be disappointed.
अध्वर्यो वीर प्र महे सुतानामिन्द्राय भर स ह्यस्य राजा । यः पूर्व्याभिरुत नूतनाभिर्गीर्भिर्वावृधे गृणतामृषीणाम्
O sacrificer, hero, bring forth the pressed offerings for Indra, for he is their lord. He who has grown strong through both ancient and new praises, through the songs of the chanting sages.
