Agni, with your sharp flame, drive away all that restrains; Agni, win wealth for us.
Bring us heroic wealth, O Jatavedas, O wise one among people; destroy the demons, O skillful one.

You, O Jātavedas, protect us from distress and misfortune; guard us, O knower of prayers.

Whoever among mortals, O Agni, from afar, seeks to harm us—protect us from such danger.
O god, with your tongue drive away that wrongdoer, the mortal who seeks to harm us.

Grant to Bharadvāja wide-reaching protection, O Agni, bring the most excellent wealth.
Agni has struck down the foes by his insight for the giver of riches, shining brightly when kindled and invoked.
In the womb of the mother, the father’s father, flashing forth, unceasing, he sits at the source of truth.
Bring forth prayer rich in offspring, O Jātavedas, wise among men, O Agni, as you blaze in the sky.
To you, whose form is splendid, full of energy and might, O Agni, we send forth our songs.
We have come to your shelter, O Agni, as to the shade of the sun, O you of golden appearance.
You, Agni, like a fierce warrior, sharp-horned as a bull, have shattered the strongholds.
Whom, though born, they do not carry in their hands, like a child, Agni, the righteous among the clans.
Bring forth the god for the favor of the gods, the bestower of wealth; let him sit in his own seat.
To the newborn Jātavedas, dear guest, let us offer welcome, as a gentle householder.
O Agni, yoke those horses of yours, O god, the noble ones, who swiftly carry the offering.
Come to us, Agni, and bring with you the offerings, to the gods for the drinking of Soma.
Rise up, O Agni, shining for the Bhāratas with unfailing, flashing light; blaze forth, undecaying one.
Whoever, O god, among mortals, with offering, worships Agni at the sacrifice, invokes the true-sacrificing Hotar of earth and heaven, with upraised hands and reverence—
To you, Agni, we bring with hymn and offering what is fashioned in the heart; may those strong bulls, your guardians, be favorable to you.
The gods kindle Agni, the foremost, the slayer of Vritra, by whom the treasures are brought forth, who fiercely repels the demons with his strength.
Drink the Soma, O mighty one, for whom we sing; Indra, shatter the wide enclosure of cattle; you, bold and strong, with the thunderbolt in hand, destroy all the Vritras and foes with your power.
Drink for him who is swift, who is victorious, who is the bull with flowing mane, who is master of wisdom; who breaks the cattle-stalls, who bears the thunderbolt, who is swift as the horses; O Indra, conquer the prizes with your brilliance.
Thus drink, as in ancient times; let your delight grow; hear the hymn, increase with our songs; make the sun visible for those who thirst; strike down the enemies, and win the cattle, O Indra.

With these draughts you delight in the sun and the dawn, you shatter the firm enclosures; O Indra, circle the great mountain, rise up, and move around the unshaken seat.
By your resolve, by your actions, by your skill, you have cooked the ripe offering; you released the cows from the enclosure, O Angiras, you broke the stronghold and let the cattle flow forth.
You expanded the earth, your great power spread wide; you raised the heavens, O Indra, mighty and lofty; you supported the two divine daughters, the ancient mothers, young and true to order.
Then all the gods in the ancient cities placed you alone, O Indra, as the mighty one for the task; when the ungodly challenged the gods, they chose Indra here as the bringer of light.
Then the sky, with its mind, was split by the thunderbolt; the waters rushed forth from the blow; when Indra, with his might, struck the serpent, he laid low the universal foe.
