को वामद्य पुरूणामा वव्ने मर्त्यानाम् । को विप्रो विप्रवाहसा को यज्ञैर्वाजिनीवसू
Who among mortals today, O Ashvins, is the most generous? Who is the inspired sage with the flow of inspiration? Who, through sacrifices, is the winner of wealth and horses?
आ वां रथो रथानां येष्ठो यात्वश्विना । पुरू चिदस्मयुस्तिर आङ्गूषो मर्त्येष्वा
May your chariot, the foremost among chariots, come here, O Ashvins; for many indeed, longing for you, stand with uplifted hands among mortals.
शमू षु वां मधूयुवास्माकमस्तु चर्कृतिः । अर्वाचीना विचेतसा विभिः श्येनेव दीयतम्
May our praise, sweet as honey, be pleasing to you both; may you, with clear insight and gifts, come near and grant like a falcon.
अश्विना यद्ध कर्हि चिच्छुश्रूयातमिमं हवम् । वस्वीरू षु वां भुजः पृञ्चन्ति सु वां पृचः
Whenever, O Ashvins, you might hear this invocation, may your generous hands be filled, may your bountiful gifts be abundant.
प्रति प्रियतमं रथं वृषणं वसुवाहनम् । स्तोता वामश्विनावृषि स्तोमेन प्रति भूषति माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
The singer, with praise, adorns your beloved, strong, wealth-bearing chariot, O Ashvins; may you hear my sweet invocation.
अत्यायातमश्विना तिरो विश्वा अहं सना । दस्रा हिरण्यवर्तनी सुषुम्ना सिन्धुवाहसा माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
Come swiftly, O Ashvins, crossing all obstacles; wondrous ones, with golden wheels, delighting, drawn by rivers—may you hear my sweet invocation.
आ नो रत्नानि बिभ्रतावश्विना गच्छतं युवम् । रुद्रा हिरण्यवर्तनी जुषाणा वाजिनीवसू माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
Bearing treasures, O Ashvins, come to us; Rudras, with golden wheels, accepting, bestowers of wealth—may you hear my sweet invocation.
सुष्टुभो वां वृषण्वसू रथे वाणीच्याहिता । उत वां ककुहो मृगः पृक्षः कृणोति वापुषो माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
Your strong treasures are set in the chariot, in the speech placed there; and the spotted deer, the gazelle, makes a marvel for you—may you hear my sweet invocation.
बोधिन्मनसा रथ्येषिरा हवनश्रुता । विभिश्च्यवानमश्विना नि याथो अद्वयाविनं माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
With awakened mind, eager for the chariot, attentive to the call, O Ashvins, you bring the fallen Chyavana to safety—may you hear my sweet invocation.
आ वां नरा मनोयुजोऽश्वासः प्रुषितप्सवः । वयो वहन्तु पीतये सह सुम्नेभिरश्विना माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
To you, O men, the mind-yoked horses, moist with dew, come; let the birds bring you for the drink, together with good thoughts, O Ashvins—may you hear my sweet invocation.
अश्विनावेह गच्छतं नासत्या मा वि वेनतम् । तिरश्चिदर्यया परि वर्तिर्यातमदाभ्या माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
O Ashvins, come here, O Nasatyas, do not delay; even across the hostile, come around the turning, unhindered—may you hear my sweet invocation.
अस्मिन्यज्ञे अदाभ्या जरितारं शुभस्पती । अवस्युमश्विना युवं गृणन्तमुप भूषथो माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
In this sacrifice, O invincible ones, the singer, shining with praise, calls for help; O Ashvins, you both favor the one who praises—may you hear my sweet invocation.
अभूदुषा रुशत्पशुराग्निरधाय्यृत्वियः । अयोजि वां वृषण्वसू रथो दस्रावमर्त्यो माध्वी मम श्रुतं हवम्
Dawn has come, the bright beast, Agni, has been kindled as the priest; your strong-wealthed chariot, O wondrous ones, has been yoked by the immortal—may you hear my sweet invocation.
आ भात्यग्निरुषसामनीकमुद्विप्राणां देवया वाचो अस्थुः । अर्वाञ्चा नूनं रथ्येह यातं पीपिवांसमश्विना घर्ममच्छ
Agni shines forth with the dawn at the forefront, and the inspired words of the priests have arisen; now, O Ashvins, come here with your chariot, bringing the warm drink.
न संस्कृतं प्र मिमीतो गमिष्ठान्ति नूनमश्विनोपस्तुतेह । दिवाभिपित्वेऽवसागमिष्ठा प्रत्यवर्तिं दाशुषे शम्भविष्ठा
No prepared path restrains you; come now, O Ashvins, to this praise; by day, with your help, come for the drink, turning back towards the worshiper, most gracious ones.
उता यातं संगवे प्रातरह्नो मध्यंदिन उदिता सूर्यस्य । दिवा नक्तमवसा शंतमेन नेदानीं पीतिरश्विना ततान
Come at the gathering, at morning, at midday, at the rising of the sun; by day and by night, with help and blessing—now, O Ashvins, your drink is prepared.
इदं हि वां प्रदिवि स्थानमोक इमे गृहा अश्विनेदं दुरोणम् । आ नो दिवो बृहतः पर्वतादाद्भ्यो यातमिषमूर्जं वहन्ता
For this is your established place in the highest heaven; these are your houses, O Ashvins, this is your home; come to us from the great heaven, from the mountain, from the waters, bringing nourishment and strength.
समश्विनोरवसा नूतनेन मयोभुवा सुप्रणीती गमेम । आ नो रयिं वहतमोत वीराना विश्वान्यमृता सौभगानि
With the new favor of the Ashvins, full of delight, may we go safely; bring us wealth, and also heroes, and all the undying blessings.
प्रातर्यावाणा प्रथमा यजध्वं पुरा गृध्रादररुषः पिबातः । प्रातर्हि यज्ञमश्विना दधाते प्र शंसन्ति कवयः पूर्वभाजः
Offer your first worship in the morning to the two who travel at dawn; before the greedy, before the angry, let them drink. In the morning, O Ashvins, the sacrifice is set for you; the poets who have gone before proclaim you.
प्रातर्यजध्वमश्विना हिनोत न सायमस्ति देवया अजुष्टम् । उतान्यो अस्मद्यजते वि चावः पूर्वःपूर्वो यजमानो वनीयान्
Perform the morning sacrifice, O Ashvins, pour the offering; there is no favor for the godless in the evening. Another worships you from us, and each earlier worshipper is more worthy.
हिरण्यत्वङ्मधुवर्णो घृतस्नुः पृक्षो वहन्ना रथो वर्तते वाम् । मनोजवा अश्विना वातरंहा येनातियाथो दुरितानि विश्वा
Golden-bodied, honey-colored, streaming with ghee, your chariot moves, O Ashvins, drawn by horses. Swift as thought, swift as the wind, by which you cross over all misfortunes.
यो भूयिष्ठं नासत्याभ्यां विवेष चनिष्ठं पित्वो ररते विभागे । स तोकमस्य पीपरच्छमीभिरनूर्ध्वभासः सदमित्तुतुर्यात्
He who most often invokes the two Nasatyas, who is the dearest at the division of the portion, may he fill his offspring with blessings, always ascending in brightness, may he ever surpass others.
समश्विनोरवसा नूतनेन मयोभुवा सुप्रणीती गमेम । आ नो रयिं वहतमोत वीराना विश्वान्यमृता सौभगानि
With the new favor of the Ashvins, with joy-bringing guidance, may we go. Bring us wealth and also heroes, and all the undying blessings.
अश्विनावेह गच्छतं नासत्या मा वि वेनतम् । हंसाविव पततमा सुताँ उप
Come here, Ashvins, O Nasatyas, do not delay. Like swans, fly to the pressed Soma.
अश्विना हरिणाविव गौराविवानु यवसम् । हंसाविव पततमा सुताँ उप
Ashvins, like deer, like cows to the pasture, like swans, fly to the pressed Soma.
अश्विना वाजिनीवसू जुषेथां यज्ञमिष्टये । हंसाविव पततमा सुताँ उप
Ashvins, givers of horses, accept the sacrifice for the sake of the desired offering. Like swans, fly to the pressed Soma.
अत्रिर्यद्वामवरोहन्नृबीसमजोहवीन्नाधमानेव योषा । श्येनस्य चिज्जवसा नूतनेनागच्छतमश्विना शंतमेन
When Atri, fallen into distress, called upon you as a woman in labor, you Ashvins, swift as the falcon, came with new help, bringing happiness.
वि जिहीष्व वनस्पते योनिः सूष्यन्त्या इव । श्रुतं मे अश्विना हवं सप्तवध्रिं च मुञ्चतम्
Open up, O tree, the womb as if for one who wishes to give birth. Hear my call, Ashvins, and release Saptavadhrin.
भीताय नाधमानाय ऋषये सप्तवध्रये । मायाभिरश्विना युवं वृक्षं सं च वि चाचथः
For the frightened, fallen sage Saptavadhrin, by your powers, Ashvins, you split and joined the tree.
यथा वातः पुष्करिणीं समिङ्गयति सर्वतः । एवा ते गर्भ एजतु निरैतु दशमास्यः
As the wind stirs the lotus pond from all sides, so may the embryo move and the ten-month child come forth.
