Yoke the red steeds to the chariot, yoke the tawny ones to the chariots. Yoke the swift bays to the yoke for drawing, the best for drawing.
And the vigorous, red, loudly roaring one is set here, the splendid one to be seen. Let not your steeds, O Maruts, linger long; urge that one on the chariots.
We call now upon the Marut chariot, famed for glory, on which the two worlds, bearing treasures, have stood together with the Maruts.
That host of yours, adorned for the chariot, mighty, worthy of praise, I call. In which the well-born, fortunate one is magnified, together with the Maruts, the bountiful one.
O Rudras, endowed with Indra's might, united, riding golden chariots, come for our well-being. This prayer is offered to you from us, as thirst rises from the waters to the sky.
Possessing voices, spears, wisdom, fine bows, arrows, and quivers; you have noble steeds, splendid chariots, born of Prishni, and your own weapons—O Maruts, may you bring auspiciousness.
You shake the sky and mountains, O givers, and forests tremble at your approach in fear. You stir the earth, children of Prishni, fierce and splendid, when your spotted mares are yoked.
Swift as wind, O Maruts, pouring rain, like well-matched, beautiful, splendid horses; tawny steeds, red steeds, shining, with bright bodies, your greatness resounds like the sky.
Rich in gifts, adorned, generous, splendid in appearance, free from darkness; well-born by birth, with golden breasts, they have attained the immortal name in heaven through their radiance.
Your spears rest upon your shoulders, O Maruts; strength and power are established in your arms. Heroism crowns your heads, your weapons are in your chariots; all glory is woven into your bodies.
Grant us wealth of cattle, horses, chariots, and noble sons, radiant prosperity, O Maruts. Bestow praise upon us, O Rudrian ones; may we enjoy your divine favor.
O men, O Maruts, be gracious to us—abundant in gifts, immortal, knowers of truth. True to hearing, wise, youthful, mighty as great mountains, greatly sustaining.
Now I praise the most powerful among them, the Marut host, ever new. They bear swift horses, mighty in strength, shining, sovereigns of immortality.
Fierce is the host, strong, with jaws like blades, steadfast in their purpose, skilled in magic, givers of gifts. O sage, praise those Maruts who are boundless in greatness and generous to men.
Let your swift chariots come today, O Maruts, who all bring rain. This fire, O Maruts, is kindled; accept it, O wise, youthful ones.
You, worshipful ones, make the king renowned among the people, you generate him, splendid, for the sacrifice. From you comes the fist-wielder, strong-armed; from you, the noble horse, O Maruts.
Like wanderers, they move as if unrestrained, ever born anew, mighty in deeds. Sons of Prishni, most excellent, seeking to unite with their own wisdom, O Maruts.
When you advance with your spotted horses and chariots adorned with gold, O Maruts, you churn the waters, break the forests, and the bull roars, the sky thunders.
You spread your movement so widely that even the earth yields, like a mother bearing her child. The wind-horses are yoked to the chariot, and the Rudrian ones make rain and sweat.
O men, O Maruts, be gracious to us—abundant in gifts, immortal, knowers of truth. True to hearing, wise, youthful, mighty as great mountains, greatly sustaining.
I send forth praise for well-being, offering to heaven and earth the truth. They pour out, their horses are red, they fill the expanse, spreading their own radiance with waves.
Through their might, the earth trembles in fear, like a full boat spilling, shaken. Far-seeing, they mark these signs; among the great assembly, the men strive with them.
Like the finest horn for the glory of cows, like the eye of the sun in the expanse of the sky, you shine forth; like swift horses, splendid in their beauty, you stand forth, O men, for glory, and you are perceived by people.
Who among you, O Maruts, possesses the greatest of great powers? Who has the most wondrous manliness? Indeed, when you set the earth trembling like a blade of grass, you move forth to bestow good fortune.
Like reddish horses with their companions, like warriors eager for battle, you have joined together in combat; like vigorous youths, you have grown strong, O men, and with your rains you obscure the eye of the sun.
They are neither eldest nor youngest, ever springing forth, with none among them in the middle; by their greatness they have grown vast. Well-born by birth, children of Prisni, O sons of heaven, come to us.
Like flocks of birds, they have soared in ranks with power, beyond the peaks of the great sky; their horses, both kinds, know their ways, and they have shaken the summits of the mountain and the sky.
May the sky and Aditi measure out protection for us; may the shining Dawns strive together. The Maruts, singers of Rudra, have opened the celestial vessel, O seer.
I praise Agni, the gracious, with reverence here, well-placed, discerning our deeds; like chariots eager for battle, may I strengthen the hymn of the Maruts, moving in a circle.
Where you, O Rudras, Maruts, have stood in your adorned, pleasant chariots, even the forests, O mighty ones, are terrified by your might; the earth itself trembles, and so does the mountain.
