यत्र वह्निरभिहितो दुद्रवद्द्रोण्यः पशुः । नृमणा वीरपस्त्योऽर्णा धीरेव सनिता
Where the fire is kindled, the cattle rush about in the troughs; among men, the heroic household prospers, like a wise one who brings gain.
एष ते देव नेता रथस्पतिः शं रयिः । शं राये शं स्वस्तय इषस्तुतो मनामहे देवस्तुतो मनामहे
This is your divine Guide, lord of the chariot, bringer of blessings and wealth; for prosperity, for well-being, praised for his gifts, we honor the god, we honor the god.
अग्ने सुतस्य पीतये विश्वैरूमेभिरा गहि । देवेभिर्हव्यदातये
Agni, come with all these, for the drinking of the pressed Soma; with the gods, to receive the offering.
ऋतधीतय आ गत सत्यधर्माणो अध्वरम् । अग्नेः पिबत जिह्वया
You who possess true insight, come, upholding the law, to the sacrifice; drink with Agni, with your tongue.
विप्रेभिर्विप्र सन्त्य प्रातर्यावभिरा गहि । देवेभिः सोमपीतये
Come, O inspired one, with the inspired, with those who drive forth at dawn; with the gods, for the drinking of Soma.
अयं सोमश्चमू सुतोऽमत्रे परि षिच्यते । प्रिय इन्द्राय वायवे
This Soma, pressed in the bowl, is poured out without measure; it is dear to Indra and Vāyu.
वायवा याहि वीतये जुषाणो हव्यदातये । पिबा सुतस्यान्धसो अभि प्रयः
Vāyu, come for the drinking, gladly accepting the offering; drink of the pressed Soma, come for the prize.
इन्द्रश्च वायवेषां सुतानां पीतिमर्हथः । ताञ्जुषेथामरेपसावभि प्रयः
Indra and Vāyu, you are worthy of drinking these pressed Somas; may you both, free from stain, gladly come for the prize.
सुता इन्द्राय वायवे सोमासो दध्याशिरः । निम्नं न यन्ति सिन्धवोऽभि प्रयः
The Somas, pressed for Indra and Vāyu, with curd, flow like rivers to the lowland, seeking the prize.
सजूर्विश्वेभिर्देवेभिरश्विभ्यामुषसा सजूः । आ याह्यग्ने अत्रिवत्सुते रण
Together with all the gods, with the Aśvins and Uṣas, come, Agni, to the offering pressed by the sons of Atri, for the contest.
सजूर्मित्रावरुणाभ्यां सजूः सोमेन विष्णुना । आ याह्यग्ने अत्रिवत्सुते रण
Together with Mitra and Varuṇa, with Soma and Viṣṇu, come, Agni, to the offering pressed by the sons of Atri, for the contest.
सजूरादित्यैर्वसुभिः सजूरिन्द्रेण वायुना । आ याह्यग्ने अत्रिवत्सुते रण
Together with the Ādityas, Vasus, Indra, and Vāyu, come, Agni, to the offering pressed by the sons of Atri, for the contest.
स्वस्ति नो मिमीतामश्विना भगः स्वस्ति देव्यदितिरनर्वणः । स्वस्ति पूषा असुरो दधातु नः स्वस्ति द्यावापृथिवी सुचेतुना
May Bhaga, the Aśvins, grant us well-being; may the goddess Aditi, free from harm, grant us well-being; may Pūṣan, the mighty, bestow well-being upon us; may Heaven and Earth, with good counsel, grant us well-being.
स्वस्तये वायुमुप ब्रवामहै सोमं स्वस्ति भुवनस्य यस्पतिः । बृहस्पतिं सर्वगणं स्वस्तये स्वस्तय आदित्यासो भवन्तु नः
For well-being, let us call upon Vāyu; for well-being, Soma, lord of the world; for well-being, Bṛhaspati, lord of all hosts; may the Ādityas bring us well-being.
विश्वे देवा नो अद्या स्वस्तये वैश्वानरो वसुरग्निः स्वस्तये । देवा अवन्त्वृभवः स्वस्तये स्वस्ति नो रुद्रः पात्वंहसः
May all the gods today grant us well-being; may Agni Vaiśvānara, the beneficent, grant us well-being; may the gods and the ancestors grant us well-being; may Rudra protect us from harm for our well-being.
स्वस्ति मित्रावरुणा स्वस्ति पथ्ये रेवति । स्वस्ति न इन्द्रश्चाग्निश्च स्वस्ति नो अदिते कृधि
May Mitra and Varuṇa grant us well-being; may the bountiful goddess of the path grant us well-being; may Indra and Agni grant us well-being; O Aditi, grant us well-being.
स्वस्ति पन्थामनु चरेम सूर्याचन्द्रमसाविव । पुनर्ददताघ्नता जानता सं गमेमहि
May we walk the path of well-being, like the sun and moon; may we return, unharmed, knowing and giving again, may we come together.
प्र श्यावाश्व धृष्णुयार्चा मरुद्भिरृक्वभिः । ये अद्रोघमनुष्वधं श्रवो मदन्ति यज्ञियाः
O Śyāvāśva, praise with boldness, with hymns, together with the Maruts, who delight in the undeceitful offering and are worthy of sacrifice.
ते हि स्थिरस्य शवसः सखायः सन्ति धृष्णुया । ते यामन्ना धृषद्विनस्त्मना पान्ति शश्वतः
For they are friends of steadfast strength, bold ones; they, with their own power, always protect us from harm.
ते स्यन्द्रासो नोक्षणोऽति ष्कन्दन्ति शर्वरीः । मरुतामधा महो दिवि क्षमा च मन्महे
They are swift, like flowing streams, surpassing the nights; I seek the greatness of the Maruts in heaven and on earth.
मरुत्सु वो दधीमहि स्तोमं यज्ञं च धृष्णुया । विश्वे ये मानुषा युगा पान्ति मर्त्यं रिषः
To the Maruts let us offer praise and sacrifice with boldness; all those who protect mortals from harm through the ages.
अर्हन्तो ये सुदानवो नरो असामिशवसः । प्र यज्ञं यज्ञियेभ्यो दिवो अर्चा मरुद्भ्यः
Those noble, generous men, possessing unassailable strength—offer the sacrifice to the worthy ones, to the Maruts in heaven.
आ रुक्मैरा युधा नर ऋष्वा ऋष्टीरसृक्षत । अन्वेनाँ अह विद्युतो मरुतो जज्झतीरिव भानुरर्त त्मना दिवः
With golden ornaments, in battle, the lofty ones have let loose their spears; following them, the flashes of lightning, the Maruts, roar like women in labor, the sun shines by its own power in the sky.
ये वावृधन्त पार्थिवा य उरावन्तरिक्ष आ । वृजने वा नदीनां सधस्थे वा महो दिवः
Those who have grown strong on earth, who are in the wide midspace, in the gathering of the rivers, or in the abode of the great sky.
शर्धो मारुतमुच्छंस सत्यशवसमृभ्वसम् । उत स्म ते शुभे नरः प्र स्यन्द्रा युजत त्मना
The troop of the Maruts, praised, possessing true strength and vigor; and indeed, O men, your shining chariots are yoked by their own power.
उत स्म ते परुष्ण्यामूर्णा वसत शुन्ध्यवः । उत पव्या रथानामद्रिं भिन्दन्त्योजसा
Indeed, on the Paruṣṇī river, the wool-clad ones dwell, pure; and the wheels of their chariots, with their force, break through the mountain.
आपथयो विपथयोऽन्तस्पथा अनुपथाः । एतेभिर्मह्यं नामभिर्यज्ञं विष्टार ओहते
The main roads, the byroads, the inner paths, the side paths—by these names, the sacrifice is spread wide for me.
अधा नरो न्योहतेऽधा नियुत ओहते । अधा पारावता इति चित्रा रूपाणि दर्श्या
Then the men are praised, then the hosts are praised; then, as with the wings of birds, their wondrous forms are seen.
छन्दस्तुभः कुभन्यव उत्समा कीरिणो नृतुः । ते मे के चिन्न तायव ऊमा आसन्दृशि त्विषे
Praising with hymns, the Kubhanyas, pouring forth at the source, are like dancers; some of them, O companions, are mothers, some are seen as radiant.
य ऋष्वा ऋष्टिविद्युतः कवयः सन्ति वेधसः । तमृषे मारुतं गणं नमस्या रमया गिरा
Those who are lofty, with sharp weapons, wise, and creative—let us honor that host of the Maruts, O seer, with delightful praise.
