आ सुष्टुती नमसा वर्तयध्यै द्यावा वाजाय पृथिवी अमृध्रे । पिता माता मधुवचाः सुहस्ता भरेभरे नो यशसावविष्टाम्
With praise and reverence, let us turn to Heaven and Earth, unshaken, for strength; the father and mother, sweet-spoken, skillful-handed, may they grant us glory in every offering.
अध्वर्यवश्चकृवांसो मधूनि प्र वायवे भरत चारु शुक्रम् । होतेव नः प्रथमः पाह्यस्य देव मध्वो ररिमा ते मदाय
O priests, having prepared the sweet offerings, bring the bright, lovely Soma to Vayu. Like a first Hotar, protect us from harm, O god; may we delight in your honeyed draught.
दश क्षिपो युञ्जते बाहू अद्रिं सोमस्य या शमितारा सुहस्ता । मध्वो रसं सुगभस्तिर्गिरिष्ठां चनिश्चदद्दुदुहे शुक्रमंशुः
Ten fingers harness their arms to the stone, the skillful ones who press Soma; the bright-fingered one, dwelling on the mountain, has milked the pure, shining juice.
असावि ते जुजुषाणाय सोमः क्रत्वे दक्षाय बृहते मदाय । हरी रथे सुधुरा योगे अर्वागिन्द्र प्रिया कृणुहि हूयमानः
This Soma is pressed for you, O Indra, who delights in it, for strength, skill, and great exhilaration. Let your two bay steeds, well-yoked to the chariot, come near; make yourself dear when invoked.
आ नो महीमरमतिं सजोषा ग्नां देवीं नमसा रातहव्याम् । मधोर्मदाय बृहतीमृतज्ञामाग्ने वह पथिभिर्देवयानैः
Bring to us, O Agni, the great, generous, wise goddess, the gracious one, worthy of offerings, together with the divine wives, for the joy of the sweet draught, by the paths of the gods.
अञ्जन्ति यं प्रथयन्तो न विप्रा वपावन्तं नाग्निना तपन्तः । पितुर्न पुत्र उपसि प्रेष्ठ आ घर्मो अग्निमृतयन्नसादि
Whom the inspired ones anoint and magnify, adorned, kindled by Agni, like a father his dear son—he, the hot drink, has sat down kindling Agni, the immortal.
अच्छा मही बृहती शंतमा गीर्दूतो न गन्त्वश्विना हुवध्यै । मयोभुवा सरथा यातमर्वाग्गन्तं निधिं धुरमाणिर्न नाभिम्
Let the great, lofty, most auspicious hymn, like a messenger, go to the Ashvins for invocation; come together with joy, come near, bring the treasure, as a navel supports the axle.
प्र तव्यसो नमउक्तिं तुरस्याहं पूष्ण उत वायोरदिक्षि । या राधसा चोदितारा मतीनां या वाजस्य द्रविणोदा उत त्मन्
I will proclaim the praise of the swift, mighty Pusan and Vayu; those who inspire gifts and thoughts, who bestow wealth and strength, and also self-power.
आ नामभिर्मरुतो वक्षि विश्वाना रूपेभिर्जातवेदो हुवानः । यज्ञं गिरो जरितुः सुष्टुतिं च विश्वे गन्त मरुतो विश्व ऊती
With your names, O Maruts, may the summoner call all of you in your forms, O Jatavedas; come to the sacrifice, to the singer's good praise, all of you Maruts, with every help.
आ नो दिवो बृहतः पर्वतादा सरस्वती यजता गन्तु यज्ञम् । हवं देवी जुजुषाणा घृताची शग्मां नो वाचमुशती शृणोतु
From the great heaven, from the lofty mountain, may Sarasvati, worthy of worship, come to the sacrifice; the goddess, accepting the offering, clothed in ghee, may she hear our strong, uplifting speech.
आ वेधसं नीलपृष्ठं बृहन्तं बृहस्पतिं सदने सादयध्वम् । सादद्योनिं दम आ दीदिवांसं हिरण्यवर्णमरुषं सपेम
Bring the wise, dark-backed, mighty Brihaspati to his dwelling; seat him in his proper place, radiant, golden-hued, fiery, whom we revere.
आ धर्णसिर्बृहद्दिवो रराणो विश्वेभिर्गन्त्वोमभिर्हुवानः । ग्ना वसान ओषधीरमृध्रस्त्रिधातुशृङ्गो वृषभो वयोधाः
He, Dharṇasi, resounding through the vast heavens, comes with all the gods, invoked by hymns; clothed in light, nourishing plants, unfailing, the bull with three-peaked horns, the giver of life.
मातुष्पदे परमे शुक्र आयोर्विपन्यवो रास्पिरासो अग्मन् । सुशेव्यं नमसा रातहव्याः शिशुं मृजन्त्यायवो न वासे
At the mother's threshold, in the highest shining realm, the radiant ones, rich in gifts, have arrived; worthy of worship, they are honored with reverence, as young ones are cleansed by their mothers in the home.
बृहद्वयो बृहते तुभ्यमग्ने धियाजुरो मिथुनासः सचन्त । देवोदेवः सुहवो भूतु मह्यं मा नो माता पृथिवी दुर्मतौ धात्
Great in strength, O Agni, for you the wise, paired together, unite in thought; may the god, the godly, be gracious to me; let not Mother Earth place us in misfortune.
उरौ देवा अनिबाधे स्याम
May we dwell unhindered, O gods, in your vastness.
समश्विनोरवसा नूतनेन मयोभुवा सुप्रणीती गमेम । आ नो रयिं वहतमोत वीराना विश्वान्यमृता सौभगानि
With the new favor of the Ashvins, bring us joy and guidance; carry to us wealth and heroes, and all immortal blessings.
तं प्रत्नथा पूर्वथा विश्वथेमथा ज्येष्ठतातिं बर्हिषदं स्वर्विदम् । प्रतीचीनं वृजनं दोहसे गिराशुं जयन्तमनु यासु वर्धसे
That ancient, foremost, all-encompassing, eldest, seat-dwelling, light-knowing one; the approachable, the provider, the victorious, whom you nurture with song, grows among you.
श्रिये सुदृशीरुपरस्य याः स्वर्विरोचमानः ककुभामचोदते । सुगोपा असि न दभाय सुक्रतो परो मायाभिरृत आस नाम ते
For splendor, the beautiful ones of the upper realm shine, illuminating the heavens; you are a good guardian, not to be harmed, wise; supreme in wonders, truth is your name.
अत्यं हविः सचते सच्च धातु चारिष्टगातुः स होता सहोभरिः । प्रसर्स्राणो अनु बर्हिर्वृषा शिशुर्मध्ये युवाजरो विस्रुहा हितः
The offering seeks the swift, the true, the one who moves without harm, the priest, the strong bearer; flowing along the altar, the youthful bull, the child, in the midst, ever young, is set free, established.
प्र व एते सुयुजो यामन्निष्टये नीचीरमुष्मै यम्य ऋतावृधः । सुयन्तुभिः सर्वशासैरभीशुभिः क्रिविर्नामानि प्रवणे मुषायति
These well-yoked ones go forth for the journey, the righteous, lowly, for him, the truthful, grown in order; with good guides, all-knowing, with strong helpers, the clever one proclaims names at the place of praise.
संजर्भुराणस्तरुभिः सुतेगृभं वयाकिनं चित्तगर्भासु सुस्वरुः । धारवाकेष्वृजुगाथ शोभसे वर्धस्व पत्नीरभि जीवो अध्वरे
Resounding, with trees, the well-born, the womb of offspring, the wise, with beautiful voices; in flowing streams, you shine with straight songs; grow, and let your wives live in the sacrifice.
यादृगेव ददृशे तादृगुच्यते सं छायया दधिरे सिध्रयाप्स्वा । महीमस्मभ्यमुरुषामुरु ज्रयो बृहत्सुवीरमनपच्युतं सहः
As one appears, so he is spoken of; together with shadow, they are placed with swift waters; grant us vast, wide, great strength, abundant heroic power, unfailing might.
वेत्यग्रुर्जनिवान्वा अति स्पृधः समर्यता मनसा सूर्यः कविः । घ्रंसं रक्षन्तं परि विश्वतो गयमस्माकं शर्म वनवत्स्वावसुः
He is the first-born, the originator, surpassing rivals, with noble mind, the sun, the sage; guarding the home, he circles all, may he grant us shelter, possessing good wealth.
ज्यायांसमस्य यतुनस्य केतुन ऋषिस्वरं चरति यासु नाम ते । यादृश्मिन्धायि तमपस्यया विदद्य उ स्वयं वहते सो अरं करत्
The greater one, with the sign of the sacrifice, the sage, moves among you, bearing your names; as he is placed, so he is seen in darkness; he himself carries, let him do good.
समुद्रमासामव तस्थे अग्रिमा न रिष्यति सवनं यस्मिन्नायता । अत्रा न हार्दि क्रवणस्य रेजते यत्रा मतिर्विद्यते पूतबन्धनी
The foremost stands at the ocean's edge, he does not fail in the offering where the paths converge; here, in the heart, the fire's flame trembles, where thought is found, pure and bound.
स हि क्षत्रस्य मनसस्य चित्तिभिरेवावदस्य यजतस्य सध्रेः । अवत्सारस्य स्पृणवाम रण्वभिः शविष्ठं वाजं विदुषा चिदर्ध्यम्
He, by the powers of dominion and mind, speaks for the worshipper, the companion; with the songs of the calf, let us fill the strongest prize, the mighty wealth, even for the wise.
श्येन आसामदितिः कक्ष्यो मदो विश्ववारस्य यजतस्य मायिनः । समन्यमन्यमर्थयन्त्येतवे विदुर्विषाणं परिपानमन्ति ते
The eagle, the mother, the joy, the power of the all-protecting, worshipful, wondrous one; each seeks the other for attainment, they know the horns, they come to the flowing drink.
सदापृणो यजतो वि द्विषो वधीद्बाहुवृक्तः श्रुतवित्तर्यो वः सचा । उभा स वरा प्रत्येति भाति च यदीं गणं भजते सुप्रयावभिः
Ever generous, the worshipper destroys enemies, praised by many, famed for knowledge, with you; both blessings approach and shine forth, when he shares the group with good guidance.
सुतम्भरो यजमानस्य सत्पतिर्विश्वासामूधः स धियामुदञ्चनः । भरद्धेनू रसवच्छिश्रिये पयोऽनुब्रुवाणो अध्येति न स्वपन्
He who supports the sacrificer, the true lord, unwavering among all, the awakener of thoughts—he, like a cow rich in milk, pours forth nourishing juice, reciting the hymn, he advances and does not sleep.
यो जागार तमृचः कामयन्ते यो जागार तमु सामानि यन्ति । यो जागार तमयं सोम आह तवाहमस्मि सख्ये न्योकाः
He who keeps vigil, him the hymns desire; he who keeps vigil, to him the chants go; he who keeps vigil, to him Soma says: 'I am yours in friendship, dwelling with you.'
