He, Agni, is the priest among people, with the arms of skill; he distributes the offerings, like Bhaga, granting favor to those who seek.
To him, whose friendship is generous, whose flame is strong, all powers in the assembly have given their strength.
Thus, Agni, among these people, is exalted for heroic might; his fame, like a cry, spreads throughout heaven and earth.
Now come, Agni, bring us the desirable gifts, as we praise you; for those who are we and those who are noble, grant us well-being, and in battles, increase our strength.
With sacrifices, the mortal approaches the god for help; Agni, established at the sacred rite, is praised for aid.
For his own glory, he thinks himself the best among those who perform the rites; that heaven, with brilliant flame, is delightful to the wise.
His garments are his flames, which he has yoked with powerful speech; like the seed of heaven, his shining rays blaze forth.
By his resolve and insight, the wise, the good, rides in his chariot; thus, Agni is praised in every tribe as the one to be invoked.
Now indeed, the desirable gifts are gathered by the noble ones; son of strength, for fulfillment, protect us, grant us happiness, and in battles, increase our strength.
In the morning, Agni, beloved by many, should be praised as the guest of the people; he, immortal, receives all offerings among mortals.
For the second time, to the bearer of offerings, with the greatness of his own skill, he takes the Soma, continually, the immortal, praised by the singer.
To him, long-lived and radiant, I call with song, for the generous; unharmed is their chariot, swiftly drawn by horses.
Brilliant are those among whom the light has come; they protect the hymns, and on the spread grass, radiant, they place fame all around.
Those who gave me fifty horses with praise, O Agni, make the fame of the generous, the heroic, and the immortal among men great and shining.
The offspring arise and flourish, the enclosure is opened and understood; one gazes upon the mother's lap.
They have sacrificed, discerning, guarding the unwavering strength; they have entered the firm fortress.
The people of Śvaitreyas grow radiant, thriving; Bṛhaduktha, adorned with a necklace, with honey, like those seeking prize, advances.
Like desired milk, pleasing and sought after, I join with the kin; like heat in the belly of the prize, undeceived, constant, is the deception.
Playing, the ray becomes manifest, clearly seen by ash and wind; its sharp, well-shaped bindings are ready to be carried, placed in the carrier.
O Agni, whatever wealth you consider bestowing, let that, renowned and worthy, be brought to us by our songs, yoked for the gods.
Those who approach Agni, they are strengthened by the fierce power; they drive away hatred and insult, and shun the ways of the unrighteous.
We choose you, Agni, as the priest, the accomplisher of skill; in sacrifices, with voice, we call you, eager to offer.
Just as you, mighty one, are called for help day by day, for wealth, for truth, for good deeds; may we be companions with cattle and heroes, may we be companions.
We dedicate you as among men, we kindle you as among men; Agni, as among men, Angiras, worship the gods for the worshipper.
For you, Agni, in the human assembly, you are gladly kindled; the ladles approach you in order, well-born, with clarified butter poured.
All the gods, united, have made you their messenger; honoring you, sage, in sacrifices, they invoke you as a god.
Let the mortal worship Agni, the god, with godly worship; kindled, shining, blaze forth, seated in the womb of truth, seated in the womb of plenty.
Let us praise with song the pure, shining flame, who is to be invoked at the rituals, the most delightful priest among all.
Place Agni, the knower of births, as the divine officiant; let the sacrifice follow him, O gods, the most godly among you.
With discerning mind, mortals seek you, god, for help; with your noble favor, we have come, desiring your aid.
