Wherever, in his gathering, the noble ones in the assembly, even those worthy, kindle him, there living beings are born.
When we unite for nourishment, when we unite for human offerings, then I grant the ray of might, glory, and truth.
He indeed makes himself a beacon, even at night he sits far away; when the pure one, undying, spreads through the trees, he devours them.
From whose enclosure, as they pour sweat on the paths, the mighty, self-born one, vast, roars like thunder upon the back.
Whom the mortal, much-desired, apportions for the sustenance of all; the sweet drink of the fathers, that even the farthest one seeks.
For he, indeed, is the giver of wealth, not the one who withholds cattle; with tawny beard, pure food, a noble, never scorched in battle.
Pure, indeed, from whom, as from a sharpened axe, the stream flows; the good hero, born of the mother, when he divides the share.
To you, whose butter is poured, O Agni, for the joy of the one who upholds; in these, place glory and fame, and set thought among mortals.
Thus, even the wrathful, the blameless, gave cattle received from you; then, O Agni, Atri filled up, he conquered the Dasyus, he conquered men.
You, Agni, the righteous ones have kindled, ancient for ancient help, mighty; shining before us, worthy of worship, all-supporting, master of the house, to be chosen.
You, Agni, as the ancient guest, the clans have seated, with flaming hair, master of the house; of great radiance, manifold form, winner of wealth, with good shelter, self-sustaining, foe of old age.
You, Agni, the human clans seek, knower of the rite, discerning, bestower of treasures; though hidden, O fortunate one, all-seeing, loudly roaring, good sacrificer, shining with ghee.
You, Agni, strong as a pillar, all-supporting, we approach with songs, with reverence; may you, kindled, accept us, O Angiras, god, with the glory and good gifts of mortals.
You, Agni, of manifold form, for each clan you bear strength, ancient, much-praised; with many foods you shine forth by your might, your brilliance, O fierce one, cannot be restrained.
You, Agni, youngest, when kindled, the gods made their messenger, bearer of offerings; with wide shelter, ghee-born, invoked, they made you, fierce one, their eye, urging thought.
You, Agni, when called from heaven with ghee, the kind-hearted, well-kindled, have kindled; growing strong, adorned with plants, you stand surpassing all earthly powers.
You, Agni, with offerings, mortals worship as god; I consider you, Jātavedas, so you will carry the offerings in order.
Agni is the priest of the generous, of the home with sacred grass; with whom the sacrifices go together, with whom the prizes and the glories.
And as a child, as a new one, you are born from the kindling sticks; the supporter of men, Agni of the clans, true to the rite.
And you are hard to grasp, like a son among the mothers; you, Agni, who have burned many forests, like cattle on the pasture.
Now, for whom the flames rise up straight, with smoke, when the mighty one, like a blower of the bellows, stirs him up, he blazes forth like a smith's fire being fanned.
With your help, O Agni, and with the favor of Mitra, may I overcome the hatred and not be defeated by the evils of mortals.
O Agni, bring to us that wealth, strong and victorious, which increases and nourishes, and which, spreading widely, grants us success in contests and growth in battle.
O Agni, bring us the most powerful glory, free from harm; lead us by the path to strength, protecting us from loss of wealth.
You, O Agni, by your wondrous power and greatness of wisdom, have ascended to lordship; you are like Mitra, worthy of sacrifice.
You, O Agni, increase the life and prosperity of those among us who, with praises, have brought gifts, men who seek bounty.
Those, O Agni, whose splendid songs shine forth, who are rich in horses, whose powerful men, with their might, have great fame that reaches even the sky, are known by their own nature.
Your flames, O Agni, shining brightly, advance with force, like swift-moving, roaring chariots, like the flashing of lightning.
Now, O Agni, for our aid and for the granting of wealth, may our noble ones and all our desires be fulfilled, overcoming every obstacle.
You, O Agni, praised by the Angiras, bring us wealth; as Hotar, mighty and victorious, bring riches to those who praise you, and grant us growth in battle.
