ईळितो अग्न आ वहेन्द्रं चित्रमिह प्रियम् । सुखै रथेभिरूतये
Invoked, Agni, bring Indra here, the splendid, the beloved, with easy chariots for our aid.
ऊर्णम्रदा वि प्रथस्वाभ्यर्का अनूषत । भवा नः शुभ्र सातये
Spread forth, wool-soft one; the worshippers have praised you with hymns. Be, O shining one, our guide to prosperity.
देवीर्द्वारो वि श्रयध्वं सुप्रायणा न ऊतये । प्रप्र यज्ञं पृणीतन
O divine doors, open wide, with good guidance for our aid. Let the sacrifice proceed and be filled.
सुप्रतीके वयोवृधा यह्वी ऋतस्य मातरा । दोषामुषासमीमहे
With beautiful faces, ever-young, mighty, mothers of truth—at dawn and dusk we invoke you.
वातस्य पत्मन्नीळिता दैव्या होतारा मनुषः । इमं नो यज्ञमा गतम्
O divine priests, guided by the flight of the wind, and by human effort, come to this sacrifice of ours.
इळा सरस्वती मही तिस्रो देवीर्मयोभुवः । बर्हिः सीदन्त्वस्रिधः
Ilā, Sarasvatī, and Mahī, the three goddesses who bring delight, may they sit upon the sacred grass, unwavering.
शिवस्त्वष्टरिहा गहि विभुः पोष उत त्मना । यज्ञेयज्ञे न उदव
Gracious Tvaṣṭar, come here, mighty and nourishing by your own power; bring forth offerings at every sacrifice.
यत्र वेत्थ वनस्पते देवानां गुह्या नामानि । तत्र हव्यानि गामय
Where, O Lord of the Forest, you know the secret names of the gods, there lead the offerings.
स्वाहाग्नये वरुणाय स्वाहेन्द्राय मरुद्भ्यः । स्वाहा देवेभ्यो हविः
Svāhā to Agni, to Varuṇa, Svāhā to Indra and the Maruts; Svāhā, the oblation to the gods.
अग्निं तं मन्ये यो वसुरस्तं यं यन्ति धेनवः । अस्तमर्वन्त आशवोऽस्तं नित्यासो वाजिन इषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
I consider that Agni, who is the wealth-bringer, to whom the cows go, to whom the swift horses and the ever-ready steeds go; bring nourishment to the singers.
सो अग्निर्यो वसुर्गृणे सं यमायन्ति धेनवः । समर्वन्तो रघुद्रुवः सं सुजातासः सूरय इषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
That Agni, whom I praise as the wealth-bringer, to whom the cows come together, to whom the swift and well-born horses, the noble ones, come; bring nourishment to the singers.
अग्निर्हि वाजिनं विशे ददाति विश्वचर्षणिः । अग्नी राये स्वाभुवं स प्रीतो याति वार्यमिषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
Agni, indeed, gives wealth to the people, he who is renowned among all men; Agni, self-born for riches, gladly goes to the reward; bring nourishment to the singers.
आ ते अग्न इधीमहि द्युमन्तं देवाजरम् । यद्ध स्या ते पनीयसी समिद्दीदयति द्यवीषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
We kindle you, Agni, the radiant, immortal god; when your most precious flame is kindled, shine forth; bring nourishment to the singers.
आ ते अग्न ऋचा हविः शुक्रस्य शोचिषस्पते । सुश्चन्द्र दस्म विश्पते हव्यवाट् तुभ्यं हूयत इषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
To you, Agni, we offer the oblation with a hymn, O lord of brilliant flame; O splendid, wondrous lord of the people, receiver of offerings, we call upon you; bring nourishment to the singers.
प्रो त्ये अग्नयोऽग्निषु विश्वं पुष्यन्ति वार्यम् । ते हिन्विरे त इन्विरे त इषण्यन्त्यानुषगिषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
Those Agnis, in the fires, promote all desirable things; they stir, they move, they distribute nourishment; bring nourishment to the singers.
तव त्ये अग्ने अर्चयो महि व्राधन्त वाजिनः । ये पत्वभिः शफानां व्रजा भुरन्त गोनामिषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
Your flames, Agni, grow great, powerful and victorious; those who, with the hooves of cattle, fill the enclosures with cows; bring nourishment to the singers.
नवा नो अग्न आ भर स्तोतृभ्यः सुक्षितीरिषः । ते स्याम य आनृचुस्त्वादूतासो दमेदम इषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
Bring us, Agni, new and abundant nourishment for the singers; may we be those who are faithful, guided by you, in every household; bring nourishment to the singers.
उभे सुश्चन्द्र सर्पिषो दर्वी श्रीणीष आसनि । उतो न उत्पुपूर्या उक्थेषु शवसस्पत इषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
Both ladles, splendid with clarified butter, are placed for you; and you, lord of strength, fill us with praise; bring nourishment to the singers.
एवाँ अग्निमजुर्यमुर्गीर्भिर्यज्ञेभिरानुषक् । दधदस्मे सुवीर्यमुत त्यदाश्वश्व्यमिषं स्तोतृभ्य आ भर
Thus, Agni, the immortal, with hymns and sacrifices, grants us heroic strength and also horse-laden wealth; bring nourishment to the singers.
सखायः सं वः सम्यञ्चमिषं स्तोमं चाग्नये । वर्षिष्ठाय क्षितीनामूर्जो नप्त्रे सहस्वते
Friends, let us unite our nourishment and our praise for Agni, the most exalted among men, the son of strength and abundance.
कुत्रा चिद्यस्य समृतौ रण्वा नरो नृषदने । अर्हन्तश्चिद्यमिन्धते संजनयन्ति जन्तवः
Wherever, in his gathering, the noble ones in the assembly, even those worthy, kindle him, there living beings are born.
सं यदिषो वनामहे सं हव्या मानुषाणाम् । उत द्युम्नस्य शवस ऋतस्य रश्मिमा ददे
When we unite for nourishment, when we unite for human offerings, then I grant the ray of might, glory, and truth.
स स्मा कृणोति केतुमा नक्तं चिद्दूर आ सते । पावको यद्वनस्पतीन्प्र स्मा मिनात्यजरः
He indeed makes himself a beacon, even at night he sits far away; when the pure one, undying, spreads through the trees, he devours them.
अव स्म यस्य वेषणे स्वेदं पथिषु जुह्वति । अभीमह स्वजेन्यं भूमा पृष्ठेव रुरुहुः
From whose enclosure, as they pour sweat on the paths, the mighty, self-born one, vast, roars like thunder upon the back.
यं मर्त्यः पुरुस्पृहं विदद्विश्वस्य धायसे । प्र स्वादनं पितूनामस्ततातिं चिदायवे
Whom the mortal, much-desired, apportions for the sustenance of all; the sweet drink of the fathers, that even the farthest one seeks.
स हि ष्मा धन्वाक्षितं दाता न दात्या पशुः । हिरिश्मश्रुः शुचिदन्नृभुरनिभृष्टतविषिः
For he, indeed, is the giver of wealth, not the one who withholds cattle; with tawny beard, pure food, a noble, never scorched in battle.
शुचिः ष्म यस्मा अत्रिवत्प्र स्वधितीव रीयते । सुषूरसूत माता क्राणा यदानशे भगम्
Pure, indeed, from whom, as from a sharpened axe, the stream flows; the good hero, born of the mother, when he divides the share.
आ यस्ते सर्पिरासुतेऽग्ने शमस्ति धायसे । ऐषु द्युम्नमुत श्रव आ चित्तं मर्त्येषु धाः
To you, whose butter is poured, O Agni, for the joy of the one who upholds; in these, place glory and fame, and set thought among mortals.
इति चिन्मन्युमध्रिजस्त्वादातमा पशुं ददे । आदग्ने अपृणतोऽत्रिः सासह्याद्दस्यूनिषः सासह्यान्नॄन्
Thus, even the wrathful, the blameless, gave cattle received from you; then, O Agni, Atri filled up, he conquered the Dasyus, he conquered men.
त्वामग्न ऋतायवः समीधिरे प्रत्नं प्रत्नास ऊतये सहस्कृत । पुरुश्चन्द्रं यजतं विश्वधायसं दमूनसं गृहपतिं वरेण्यम्
You, Agni, the righteous ones have kindled, ancient for ancient help, mighty; shining before us, worthy of worship, all-supporting, master of the house, to be chosen.
