Now let Heaven and Earth, with the serpent of the deep, be praised as goddesses with these chosen offerings. Like rivers flowing together to the sea, may the streams, full of warmth and sweetness, unite their waters.
May the goddess Aditi, with the gods, protect us; may the god, the savior, save us without delay. For we are not worthy to transgress the command of Mitra and Varuna, nor the path of Agni.
Agni is the lord of wealth, Agni is the lord of great good fortune. May he bestow these upon us.
O Dawn, bring us generous gifts, O gracious one, many prizes; bring them to us, endowed with strength.
May Savitar, Bhaga, Varuna, Mitra, Aryaman, and Indra come to us with their bounty.
Great Heaven and Earth, be present here, supreme, shining with pure rays. When you, the greatest and vast, measured out the wide spaces, the mighty bull spread them forth with his powers.
The goddess, together with the gods worthy of worship, is honored with sacrifices; she stands firm, unshaken. True to order, free from guile, daughters of the god, leaders of the sacrifice, shining with pure hymns.
He alone, self-dependent among beings, who begot these Heaven and Earth—he, wise, with his power, joined together the broad and deep realms, harmonizing them in their foundations.
Now, Heaven and Earth, grant us great protections, united like spouses, eager to help. May you, worshipped by all, guard us; by your wisdom, may we always be charioteers at the sacrifice.
To you both, Heaven and Earth, we bring a great hymn of praise; pure ones, come near for our glorification.
Renewing yourselves, each in your own form, you rule with your inherent power; you have upheld order from of old.
Great is the aid of Mitra, crossing over, upholding truth; you have encompassed the sacrifice and sat down around it.
With the Lord of the field as our ally, we shall conquer as with a chariot; may he, who nourishes cattle and horses, be gracious to us in this way.
O Lord of the field, pour out for us a sweet, abundant wave, like a cow her milk; may the lords of nectar favor us with honey-dripping, well-purified ghee.
May the plants be sweet, may the heavens and waters be sweet, may the midspace become full of sweetness; may the Lord of the field be sweet to us, and may we move without harm upon him.
May the oxen be auspicious for us, may the men be auspicious, may the plough be auspicious as it tills; may the yokes be tied auspiciously, and may the goad be raised with good fortune.
O Śunāsīra, accept this speech of ours, you who made the milk in the sky; with that, sprinkle this field.
Come near, O fortunate Sītā, we honor you; so that you may be gracious to us, so that you may be fruitful for us.
May Indra take hold of Sītā, may Pūṣan settle her; may she, rich in milk, yield for us harvest after harvest.
May our ploughshares till the earth with good fortune, may the ploughmen approach with their teams in auspiciousness; may the rain-cloud with honey and milk, may Śunāsīra, bestow prosperity upon us.
From the ocean rises a honeyed wave, swelling forth with foam, bearing immortality; the secret name of ghee is there, the tongue of the gods, the navel of nectar.
We declare the name of ghee, in this sacrifice we uphold it with reverence; the inspired poet hears the recited hymn, the four-horned bull has proclaimed this.
He has four horns, three feet, two heads, and seven hands; the bull, bound threefold, bellows, the great god has entered mortals.
The gods discovered the ghee, hidden in the cow, divided threefold and guarded by the hands; Indra generated one, Sūrya another, and the third Venā shaped by his own power.
These streams flow from the heart, from the ocean, a hundredfold, difficult to cross; I behold the streams of ghee, with golden reeds in their midst.
They flow rightly, like cows, the rivers, purified in heart and mind; these waves of ghee rush forth, like wild beasts eager for the lair.
Like the roaring of a river in flood, swift as the wind, the mighty ones rush forth; the streams of ghee, like a red stallion, break through barriers, swelling with waves.
They flow forth together, like women adorned, smiling upon Agni; the streams of ghee kindle the fires, which Jātavedas joyfully accepts.
Like maidens eager for a husband, anointed and adorned, I behold them; where Soma is pressed, where the sacrifice is, there the streams of ghee flow forth.
May you flow forth with excellent praise, bringing cattle, bestow upon us auspicious wealth; lead this sacrifice for us, O gods, the streams of ghee flow with honeyed sweetness.
