यत्रोत बाधितेभ्यश्चक्रं कुत्साय युध्यते । मुषाय इन्द्र सूर्यम्
Where, indeed, for the embattled, the wheel fights for Kutsa; there, Indra, you stole away the sun.
यत्र देवाँ ऋघायतो विश्वाँ अयुध्य एक इत् । त्वमिन्द्र वनूँरहन्
Where, for the gods in distress, you alone, Indra, conquered all the hosts of enemies.
यत्रोत मर्त्याय कमरिणा इन्द्र सूर्यम् । प्रावः शचीभिरेतशम्
Where, for the mortal, for the one seeking to kill, Indra, with your powers you brought forth the sun's steed.
किमादुतासि वृत्रहन्मघवन्मन्युमत्तमः । अत्राह दानुमातिरः
Why, O slayer of Vṛtra, O bountiful one, are you so full of wrath? Here, the demon's mother lies slain.
एतद्घेदुत वीर्यमिन्द्र चकर्थ पौंस्यम् । स्त्रियं यद्दुर्हणायुवं वधीर्दुहितरं दिवः
Indeed, this heroic deed, this manly act, Indra, you performed: when you struck down the difficult-to-subdue daughter of the sky.
दिवश्चिद्घा दुहितरं महान्महीयमानाम् । उषासमिन्द्र सं पिणक्
Even the daughter of the sky, great and greatly honored, O Indra, you crushed, O bringer-together.
अपोषा अनसः सरत्सम्पिष्टादह बिभ्युषी । नि यत्सीं शिश्नथद्वृषा
She, terrified, fled from the crushed chariot, when the bull yoked her down at the ford.
एतदस्या अनः शये सुसम्पिष्टं विपाश्या । ससार सीं परावतः
There lies her chariot, well-crushed, in the waters of Vipāś; she ran to the distant shore.
उत सिन्धुं विबाल्यं वितस्थानामधि क्षमि । परि ष्ठा इन्द्र मायया
And you, Indra, split the river Vi-bālya, standing upon the earth, you surrounded it with your magic.
उत शुष्णस्य धृष्णुया प्र मृक्षो अभि वेदनम् । पुरो यदस्य सम्पिणक्
And with might you attacked the stronghold of Śuṣṇa, when you, O crusher, shattered his fortresses.
उत दासं कौलितरं बृहतः पर्वतादधि । अवाहन्निन्द्र शम्बरम्
And the Dāsa named Śambara, dwelling on the great mountain, Indra, you cast down.
उत दासस्य वर्चिनः सहस्राणि शतावधीः । अधि पञ्च प्रधीँरिव
And the Dāsa Varchin, you struck down thousands, hundreds, as if in five gatherings.
उत त्यं पुत्रमग्रुवः परावृक्तं शतक्रतुः । उक्थेष्विन्द्र आभजत्
And that son of Agri, cast away, O Indra of a hundred powers, you accepted in the hymns.
उत त्या तुर्वशायदू अस्नातारा शचीपतिः । इन्द्रो विद्वाँ अपारयत्
And those Turvaśa and Yadu, unwashed, the lord of might, Indra, knowing, brought across.
उत त्या सद्य आर्या सरयोरिन्द्र पारतः । अर्णाचित्ररथावधीः
And those Aryas, O Indra, you struck down on the farther side of the Sarayu, the two with bright chariots, in the flood.
अनु द्वा जहिता नयोऽन्धं श्रोणं च वृत्रहन् । न तत्ते सुम्नमष्टवे
You, slayer of Vṛtra, abandoned the two, the blind and the lame; that was not your favor for the eighth.
शतमश्मन्मयीनां पुरामिन्द्रो व्यास्यत् । दिवोदासाय दाशुषे
A hundred stone-built cities did Indra shatter for Divodāsa, the worshipper.
अस्वापयद्दभीतये सहस्रा त्रिंशतं हथैः । दासानामिन्द्रो मायया
He made the Dāsas sleep in fear, a thousand and thirty, by force, Indra, with your magic.
स घेदुतासि वृत्रहन्समान इन्द्र गोपतिः । यस्ता विश्वानि चिच्युषे
Indeed, you have become thus, O slayer of Vṛtra, O Indra, lord of wealth, who has scattered all these things.
उत नूनं यदिन्द्रियं करिष्या इन्द्र पौंस्यम् । अद्या नकिष्टदा मिनत्
And now, whatever heroic deed you will accomplish, O Indra, today, let no one diminish that strength.
वामंवामं त आदुरे देवो ददात्वर्यमा । वामं पूषा वामं भगो वामं देवः करूळती
May the god Aryaman give you favor upon favor from afar; may Pūṣan grant favor, may Bhaga grant favor, may the gracious god grant favor.
कया नश्चित्र आ भुवदूती सदावृधः सखा । कया शचिष्ठया वृता
By what wondrous means has he become our ever-strengthening friend and messenger? By what most powerful help protected?
कस्त्वा सत्यो मदानां मंहिष्ठो मत्सदन्धसः । दृळ्हा चिदारुजे वसु
Who among your true delights, O Indra, is the greatest, who rejoices in the Soma? You have broken even the firm ones, O giver of wealth.
अभी षु णः सखीनामविता जरितॄणाम् । शतं भवास्यूतिभिः
Be for us the protector of friends, of the singers; may you be a hundredfold with your aids.
अभी न आ ववृत्स्व चक्रं न वृत्तमर्वतः । नियुद्भिश्चर्षणीनाम्
Come to us, as a wheel to the axle of a chariot, O Indra, with the bands of the peoples.
प्रवता हि क्रतूनामा हा पदेव गच्छसि । अभक्षि सूर्ये सचा
For you advance at the forefront of intentions, as if going to a contest; you have partaken together with the sun.
सं यत्त इन्द्र मन्यवः सं चक्राणि दधन्विरे । अध त्वे अध सूर्ये
When your powers, O Indra, have united, when your deeds have been set together, then it is in you, then in the sun.
उत स्मा हि त्वामाहुरिन्मघवानं शचीपते । दातारमविदीधयुम्
Indeed, they call you, O Maghavan, lord of might, the generous giver to the seeker.
उत स्मा सद्य इत्परि शशमानाय सुन्वते । पुरू चिन्मंहसे वसु
Indeed, even today, for the one who praises and presses Soma, you bestow much wealth.
नहि ष्मा ते शतं चन राधो वरन्त आमुरः । न च्यौत्नानि करिष्यतः
Never, not even once, do the distant ones attain your bounty; nor those who act with deceit.
