वि यद्वरांसि पर्वतस्य वृण्वे पयोभिर्जिन्वे अपां जवांसि । विदद्गौरस्य गवयस्य गोहे यदी वाजाय सुध्यो वहन्ति
When he chooses the best treasures of the mountain, he invigorates the swift courses of the waters with nourishment; he finds the cow in the cave of the wild one, when the well-fed ones bear it forth for the prize.
भद्रा ते हस्ता सुकृतोत पाणी प्रयन्तारा स्तुवते राध इन्द्र । का ते निषत्तिः किमु नो ममत्सि किं नोदुदु हर्षसे दातवा उ
Your hands are auspicious, skillful, and your palms, O Indra, grant gifts to the one who praises; what is your refusal, will you not remember us? What, O mighty one, prevents you from giving?
एवा वस्व इन्द्रः सत्यः सम्राड्ढन्ता वृत्रं वरिवः पूरवे कः । पुरुष्टुत क्रत्वा नः शग्धि रायो भक्षीय तेऽवसो दैव्यस्य
Thus, Indra, the true and sovereign, grants passage to Pūru by slaying the serpent; O much-praised one, grant us wealth through your power, let us enjoy your divine favor.
नू ष्टुत इन्द्र नू गृणान इषं जरित्रे नद्यो न पीपेः । अकारि ते हरिवो ब्रह्म नव्यं धिया स्याम रथ्यः सदासाः
Now, praised, O Indra, now, sung, grant us nourishment for the doer, like rivers that fill; for you, O Hariva, a new hymn has been composed, may we, through wisdom, always be charioteers.
यन्न इन्द्रो जुजुषे यच्च वष्टि तन्नो महान्करति शुष्म्या चित् । ब्रह्म स्तोमं मघवा सोममुक्था यो अश्मानं शवसा बिभ्रदेति
Whatever Indra has chosen, whatever he desires, that the great one accomplishes, even with his might; Maghavan, bearing the stone with strength, accepts our hymn, praise, and soma offering.
वृषा वृषन्धिं चतुरश्रिमस्यन्नुग्रो बाहुभ्यां नृतमः शचीवान् । श्रिये परुष्णीमुषमाण ऊर्णां यस्याः पर्वाणि सख्याय विव्ये
The mighty one, with powerful arms, the best among men, vigorous, eats the four-sided food; for glory, he tears the wool from Paruṣṇī, whose joints he has made for friendship.
यो देवो देवतमो जायमानो महो वाजेभिर्महद्भिश्च शुष्मैः । दधानो वज्रं बाह्वोरुशन्तं द्याममेन रेजयत्प्र भूम
He, the god, most divine among gods, being born, with great steeds and mighty powers, holding the thunderbolt in his broad arms, made the sky resound with his force and shone forth upon the earth.
विश्वा रोधांसि प्रवतश्च पूर्वीर्द्यौरृष्वाज्जनिमन्रेजत क्षाः । आ मातरा भरति शुष्म्या गोर्नृवत्परिज्मन्नोनुवन्त वाताः
All barriers and ancient paths, the lofty sky, the earth, and their origins, resounded; the mother brings the force of the cow, and winds, like men, follow the circuit.
ता तू त इन्द्र महतो महानि विश्वेष्वित्सवनेषु प्रवाच्या । यच्छूर धृष्णो धृषता दधृष्वानहिं वज्रेण शवसाविवेषीः
These, O Indra, are your great deeds among all the assemblies, to be proclaimed; O hero, bold and daring, you struck the serpent with the thunderbolt, displaying your might.
ता तू ते सत्या तुविनृम्ण विश्वा प्र धेनवः सिस्रते वृष्ण ऊध्नः । अधा ह त्वद्वृषमणो भियानाः प्र सिन्धवो जवसा चक्रमन्त
These are your true, mighty deeds; all the cows flow forth from the udder of the bull; then, fearing your strength, the rivers moved swiftly.
अत्राह ते हरिवस्ता उ देवीरवोभिरिन्द्र स्तवन्त स्वसारः । यत्सीमनु प्र मुचो बद्बधाना दीर्घामनु प्रसितिं स्यन्दयध्यै
Here, O Hariva, your divine sisters praise you, Indra, with help; when they loosened their bonds, they flowed forth in a long stream.
पिपीळे अंशुर्मद्यो न सिन्धुरा त्वा शमी शशमानस्य शक्तिः । अस्मद्र्यक्छुशुचानस्य यम्या आशुर्न रश्मिं तुव्योजसं गोः
The invigorating soma, like a river, delights you; the power of the one who desires joy is yours; for us, the ray of the shining cow, swift and strong, comes near.
अस्मे वर्षिष्ठा कृणुहि ज्येष्ठा नृम्णानि सत्रा सहुरे सहांसि । अस्मभ्यं वृत्रा सुहनानि रन्धि जहि वधर्वनुषो मर्त्यस्य
Make us the most abundant, the greatest in heroic deeds, O mighty one, always victorious; for us, destroy the slayers, break the obstacles, strike down the enemy of mortals.
अस्माकमित्सु शृणुहि त्वमिन्द्रास्मभ्यं चित्राँ उप माहि वाजान् । अस्मभ्यं विश्वा इषणः पुरंधीरस्माकं सु मघवन्बोधि गोदाः
Hear us, O Indra, in our striving; grant us splendid prizes; for us, let all the nourishing gifts and treasures come; be mindful, O Maghavan, of our cows.

कथा महामवृधत्कस्य होतुर्यज्ञं जुषाणो अभि सोममूधः । पिबन्नुशानो जुषमाणो अन्धो ववक्ष ऋष्वः शुचते धनाय
How did the great one grow, whose priest, accepting the sacrifice, approached the soma? Drinking, desiring, accepting the offering, the lofty one advanced, pure, for wealth.
को अस्य वीरः सधमादमाप समानंश सुमतिभिः को अस्य । कदस्य चित्रं चिकिते कदूती वृधे भुवच्छशमानस्य यज्योः
Who is the hero who has attained his fellowship, who has shared the same portion with his favors? Who has discerned his wondrous act, who has become great, of the praiseworthy and worshipful one?
कथा शृणोति हूयमानमिन्द्रः कथा शृण्वन्नवसामस्य वेद । का अस्य पूर्वीरुपमातयो ह कथैनमाहुः पपुरिं जरित्रे
How does Indra hear the one being invoked? How, while listening, does he know the new song? What are his many forms of protection, and how do they speak of him, the generous one, to the worshipper?
कथा सबाधः शशमानो अस्य नशदभि द्रविणं दीध्यानः । देवो भुवन्नवेदा म ऋतानां नमो जगृभ्वाँ अभि यज्जुजोषत्
How does one, striving, not lose his wealth, shining forth in pursuit of riches? Let the god become knowing, O upholder of truths; having taken up homage, may he delight in the offering.
कथा कदस्या उषसो व्युष्टौ देवो मर्तस्य सख्यं जुजोष । कथा कदस्य सख्यं सखिभ्यो ये अस्मिन्कामं सुयुजं ततस्रे
How, at the breaking of dawn, did the god delight in the friendship of a mortal? How, at that time, did he show friendship to his companions, those who have sought the well-yoked desire in him?
किमादमत्रं सख्यं सखिभ्यः कदा नु ते भ्रात्रं प्र ब्रवाम । श्रिये सुदृशो वपुरस्य सर्गाः स्वर्ण चित्रतममिष आ गोः
What is that intimate friendship with companions? When shall we truly declare your brotherhood? For splendor, his form is well-shaped; his creations are most brilliant, shining like the light of the cow.
द्रुहं जिघांसन्ध्वरसमनिन्द्रां तेतिक्ते तिग्मा तुजसे अनीका । ऋणा चिद्यत्र ऋणया न उग्रो दूरे अज्ञाता उषसो बबाधे
Desiring to slay the deceiver, the mighty one sharpened his fierce weapons; even the debtor, with debt, is not harsh there; far away, the unknown ones, he repelled at dawn.
ऋतस्य हि शुरुधः सन्ति पूर्वीरृतस्य धीतिर्वृजिनानि हन्ति । ऋतस्य श्लोको बधिरा ततर्द कर्णा बुधानः शुचमान आयोः
For the truths, there are many attentive ones; the thought of truth destroys wrongs. The proclamation of truth pierced the deaf, their ears awakened, the pure ones, in their coming.
ऋतस्य दृळ्हा धरुणानि सन्ति पुरूणि चन्द्रा वपुषे वपूंषि । ऋतेन दीर्घमिषणन्त पृक्ष ऋतेन गाव ऋतमा विवेशुः
The firm foundations of truth are many, shining, wondrous in form. By truth, the long, nourishing streams flow; by truth, the cows have entered into truth.
ऋतं येमान ऋतमिद्वनोत्यृतस्य शुष्मस्तुरया उ गव्युः । ऋताय पृथ्वी बहुले गभीरे ऋताय धेनू परमे दुहाते
He who goes by truth, he alone wins truth; the strength of truth, indeed, is victorious in the contest for cows. For truth, the earth is broad and deep; for truth, the cows are milked in the highest abode.
नू ष्टुत इन्द्र नू गृणान इषं जरित्रे नद्यो न पीपेः । अकारि ते हरिवो ब्रह्म नव्यं धिया स्याम रथ्यः सदासाः
Now, praised Indra, now, lauded, may you grant nourishment to the worshipper, like rivers. For you, O wielder of the bay steeds, a new hymn has been composed; with thought, may we always be those who ride the chariot.
का सुष्टुतिः शवसः सूनुमिन्द्रमर्वाचीनं राधस आ ववर्तत् । ददिर्हि वीरो गृणते वसूनि स गोपतिर्निष्षिधां नो जनासः
What praise has turned toward Indra, the mighty son, bringing him near with bounty? For the hero gives riches to the singer; he, the lord of cattle, has not driven our people away.
स वृत्रहत्ये हव्यः स ईड्यः स सुष्टुत इन्द्रः सत्यराधाः । स यामन्ना मघवा मर्त्याय ब्रह्मण्यते सुष्वये वरिवो धात्
He is to be invoked in the slaying of Vṛtra, he is to be praised, he is Indra, truly generous. He, the bountiful, comes to the mortal's aid; he makes a wide path for the worshipper's song.
तमिन्नरो वि ह्वयन्ते समीके रिरिक्वांसस्तन्वः कृण्वत त्राम् । मिथो यत्त्यागमुभयासो अग्मन्नरस्तोकस्य तनयस्य सातौ
To him, the men call in the assembly, desiring to obtain, striving to make their bodies strong. When they come together, both sides, for the gain of offspring and progeny.
क्रतूयन्ति क्षितयो योग उग्राशुषाणासो मिथो अर्णसातौ । सं यद्विशोऽववृत्रन्त युध्मा आदिन्नेम इन्द्रयन्ते अभीके
The peoples strive with energy, the strong ones, eager, in mutual contest for abundance. When the clans unite, the mighty ones, then they call upon Indra in the gathering.
