सं यन्मदाय शुष्मिण एना ह्यस्योदरे । समुद्रो न व्यचो दधे
When, for exhilaration, he unites with this, his strength is in his belly, like the expanse of the ocean.
अयमु ते समतसि कपोत इव गर्भधिम् । वचस्तच्चिन्न ओहसे
This word of yours, as if hidden like a pigeon in the womb, you do not neglect.
स्तोत्रं राधानां पते गिर्वाहो वीर यस्य ते । विभूतिरस्तु सूनृता
O lord of gifts, singer of praises, hero, may your glory be renowned, may your fame be true.
ऊर्ध्वस्तिष्ठा न ऊतयेऽस्मिन्वाजे शतक्रतो । समन्येषु ब्रवावहै
Stand upright for our aid, O hundred-powered, in this contest; let us speak together among the allies.
योगेयोगे तवस्तरं वाजेवाजे हवामहे । सखाय इन्द्रमूतये
In every alliance, in every contest, we call upon Indra, the strongest, for help as friends.
आ घा गमद्यदि श्रवत्सहस्रिणीभिरूतिभिः । वाजेभिरुप नो हवम्
May he indeed come, if he hears, with thousands of aids, with prizes, to our invocation.
अनु प्रत्नस्यौकसो हुवे तुविप्रतिं नरम् । यं ते पूर्वं पिता हुवे
I call upon the ancient home, the greatly wise man, whom your father called upon before you.
तं त्वा वयं विश्ववारा शास्महे पुरुहूत । सखे वसो जरितृभ्यः
We, desiring all blessings, call upon you, O much-invoked, as a friend, O generous one, for the singers.
अस्माकं शिप्रिणीनां सोमपाः सोमपाव्नाम् । सखे वज्रिन्सखीनाम्
Among us, O drinker of Soma, among the Soma-drinkers, O friend with the thunderbolt, among friends.
तथा तदस्तु सोमपाः सखे वज्रिन्तथा कृणु । यथा त उश्मसीष्टये
So let it be, O drinker of Soma, O friend with the thunderbolt, do so as you wish for our benefit.
रेवतीर्नः सधमाद इन्द्रे सन्तु तुविवाजाः । क्षुमन्तो याभिर्मदेम
May our gatherings with Indra be rich, full of great prizes, with which we may rejoice.
आ घ त्वावान्त्मनाप्त स्तोतृभ्यो धृष्णवियानः । ऋणोरक्षं न चक्र्योः
May you, with your own strength, come to the praisers, O bold one, as the axle to the wheel.
आ यद्दुवः शतक्रतवा कामं जरितॄणाम् । ऋणोरक्षं न शचीभिः
Whenever, O Hundred-Powered Indra, you fulfill the desire of the singers, you do not fail in your protection, by your powers.
शश्वदिन्द्रः पोप्रुथद्भिर्जिगाय नानदद्भिः शाश्वसद्भिर्धनानि । स नो हिरण्यरथं दंसनावान्स नः सनिता सनये स नोऽदात्
Indra has ever triumphed over the swelling ones, over the boasting, and over those who are ever hostile to wealth; may he, possessing a golden chariot and sharp weapons, be our giver, our provider, may he grant to us.
आश्विनावश्वावत्येषा यातं शवीरया । गोमद्दस्रा हिरण्यवत्
O Ashvins, come to this horse-bearing one with your strength, O wondrous ones, bringing cows and gold.
समानयोजनो हि वां रथो दस्रावमर्त्यः । समुद्रे अश्विनेयते
For your chariot, O wondrous, immortal ones, has the same yoking; O Ashvins, it moves upon the ocean.
न्यघ्न्यस्य मूर्धनि चक्रं रथस्य येमथुः । परि द्यामन्यदीयते
You have set the wheel of your chariot on the head of the Night; another circles around the sky.
कस्त उषः कधप्रिये भुजे मर्तो अमर्त्ये । कं नक्षसे विभावरि
Which mortal, O Dawn, beloved of all, has enjoyed you, the immortal? Whom do you mark, O shining one?
वयं हि ते अमन्मह्यान्तादा पराकात् । अश्वे न चित्रे अरुषि
For we have called to you from near and far, like to a splendid, red horse.
त्वं त्येभिरा गहि वाजेभिर्दुहितर्दिवः । अस्मे रयिं नि धारय
Come to us with these prizes, O daughter of the sky; bestow wealth upon us.
त्वमग्ने प्रथमो अङ्गिरा ऋषिर्देवो देवानामभवः शिवः सखा । तव व्रते कवयो विद्मनापसोऽजायन्त मरुतो भ्राजदृष्टयः
You, O Agni, were the first Angiras, the sage, the god among gods, a gracious friend; by your ordinance, the wise Maruts with shining forms were born.
त्वमग्ने प्रथमो अङ्गिरस्तमः कविर्देवानां परि भूषसि व्रतम् । विभुर्विश्वस्मै भुवनाय मेधिरो द्विमाता शयुः कतिधा चिदायवे
You, O Agni, are the foremost Angiras, the most skilled, you encompass the ordinance of the gods; vast, wise, you extend to all the worlds, two-mothered, lying in many places for the one who seeks.
त्वमग्ने प्रथमो मातरिश्वन आविर्भव सुक्रतूया विवस्वते । अरेजेतां रोदसी होतृवूर्येऽसघ्नोर्भारमयजो महो वसो
You, O Agni, first appeared for Mātariśvan, manifest for Vivasvat with good purpose; the two worlds trembled at your priestly office, O mighty one, you bore the burden, O unaging, great treasure.
त्वमग्ने मनवे द्यामवाशयः पुरूरवसे सुकृते सुकृत्तरः । श्वात्रेण यत्पित्रोर्मुच्यसे पर्या त्वा पूर्वमनयन्नापरं पुनः
You, O Agni, have brought the sky for Manu, for Pururavas, the doer of good, you are even more skillful; when you are released from the jaws of your fathers, they led you first, and again another time.
त्वमग्ने वृषभः पुष्टिवर्धन उद्यतस्रुचे भवसि श्रवाय्यः । य आहुतिं परि वेदा वषट्कृतिमेकायुरग्रे विश आविवाससि
You, O Agni, are the bull, increaser of strength, with uplifted flame you are worthy of praise; you know the offering, the vaṣaṭ-call, you summon the people at the beginning for a single lifetime.
त्वमग्ने वृजिनवर्तनिं नरं सक्मन्पिपर्षि विदथे विचर्षणे । यः शूरसाता परितक्म्ये धने दभ्रेभिश्चित्समृता हंसि भूयसः
You, O Agni, protect the man who walks the path of righteousness in the assembly, O wise one; even in scanty wealth, you defeat the greater with the lesser, O winner of the hero's prize.
त्वं तमग्ने अमृतत्व उत्तमे मर्तं दधासि श्रवसे दिवेदिवे । यस्तातृषाण उभयाय जन्मने मयः कृणोषि प्रय आ च सूरये
You, O Agni, place the mortal in the highest immortality for fame, day by day; for the one who thirsts for both kinds of birth, you make joy, you lead forth to the sun.
त्वं नो अग्ने सनये धनानां यशसं कारुं कृणुहि स्तवानः । ऋध्याम कर्मापसा नवेन देवैर्द्यावापृथिवी प्रावतं नः
You, O Agni, make us praisers, winners of wealth and glory; may we prosper in new deeds, may Heaven and Earth, with the gods, protect us.
त्वं नो अग्ने पित्रोरुपस्थ आ देवो देवेष्वनवद्य जागृविः । तनूकृद्बोधि प्रमतिश्च कारवे त्वं कल्याण वसु विश्वमोपिषे
You, O Agni, ever-wakeful god, are at the lap of our forefathers among the gods, blameless; be mindful of the body, and of the wise singer, you, O good one, bestow all wealth upon us.
त्वमग्ने प्रमतिस्त्वं पितासि नस्त्वं वयस्कृत्तव जामयो वयम् । सं त्वा रायः शतिनः सं सहस्रिणः सुवीरं यन्ति व्रतपामदाभ्य
You, O Agni, are our wisdom, you are our father, you are our youth, and we are your kin; may riches, abundant and a thousandfold, come together to you, O guardian of the ordinance, with heroic men.
