We praise with song the messenger, all-knowing, bearer of offerings, immortal, most fit for worship.
For he knows the wealth-giving, the great expanse of heaven; he brings the gods here.
He knows the approach of the gods, he makes the gods dwell in the home of truth; he gives even beloved treasures.
He, as Hotar, indeed, undertakes the messenger’s task, wise, he moves between; knowing, he reaches the doors of heaven.
May we be among those who have given to Agni with offerings; those who nurture him, who kindle him.
They, rich in wealth and heroic strength, are renowned; those who have placed Agni as their light.
May riches, much desired, come to us day by day; may strength speed toward us.
He, the inspired one of peoples, with might, surpasses men like a swift missile.
O Agni, be gracious, you are great; you, who favor this god-seeking people, come and sit on the sacred grass.
He, difficult to deceive among men, is mighty among the clans, immortal; he becomes the messenger of all.
He is led around the dwelling as the Hotar, delightful among the worshippers; and as the Potar, he sits down.
Agni is the priest at the sacrifice, the lord of the house in the home; and as Brahman, he sits down.
Truly, you assume the role of the ritual priest, the spokesman for the people, and the bearer of human offerings.
You take on the messenger's duty, delighting in the ritual, carrying the mortal's offering to the gods.
Be pleased with our ritual, with our sacrifice, O Angiras; listen to our invocation.
May your chariot, O messenger, reach us from every side, by which you protect the worshipper.
Agni, today, like a swift horse with praises, like a noble resolve that touches the heart, may we attain your gifts.
For truly, Agni, you have become the charioteer of the lofty order, of good resolve, skill, and virtue.
With these hymns, be near to us, bring us the radiant light, Agni, with all your gracious forms.
With these songs today, praising you, Agni, may we serve; your powers thunder forth like the sky.
Your most pleasant vision, Agni, shines here both by day and by night, like a golden ornament for beauty.
Like purified ghee, your form is without stain, pure as gold; your radiance shines forth, self-sustaining.
You indeed destroy the enmity, Agni, that is made against us by mortals, thus you are true to the worshipper.
May our friendship with you, Agni, and with the gods, be auspicious like brotherhood; may that bond be firm in this home.
Blessed is your face, Agni, mighty one; it shines near like the sun; it is seen bright even at night, unwearied, appearing as food to the eye.
Scatter, Agni, the thoughts of the one who praises you; with your trembling flame, O powerful-born, praised by all the gods, grant us, O great one, abundant insight.
From you, Agni, arise the songs, the thoughts, the hymns, and the gifts; from you comes wealth for the noble, thus you give to the worshipping mortal.
From you, the hero, the winner of prizes, is born, bringing abundance, true in strength; from you, the generous one, favored by the gods, the swift one, Agni, comes near.
You, Agni, are the first whom the worshippers call, the immortal god with charming tongue; they invoke you, free from hatred, with their thoughts, as the wise, steadfast lord of the house.
Drive far from us, far away, all hostility, far away every evil thought you repel; O Agni, son of strength, be gracious to us, O god, whenever you bring us well-being.
