This new and well-praised hymn, O Pūṣan, O radiant god, is offered to you by us.
Accept this song of mine, bringing strength, and support my prayer as a suitor cherishes a maiden.
He who sees all things and beholds the worlds—may Pūṣan be our protector.
May we contemplate that excellent radiance of Savitar, the god; may he inspire our thoughts.
Striving for strength, we seek the favor of Bhaga, desiring the bounty of the god Savitar.
The wise, inspired by devotion, honor the god Savitar with sacrifices and well-spoken hymns.
Soma advances, knowing the paths, he reaches the assembly of the gods and settles in the womb of truth.
May Soma grant us, for both bipeds and quadrupeds, abundance free from sickness.
Soma, increasing our lifespan and overcoming adversaries, has taken his seat in the assembly.
Mitra and Varuna, pour upon us the clarified butter, bestowing the pasture, O wise ones, with honeyed realms.
Wide-praised, strengthened by reverence, you reign in greatness and skill, O pure in vow, with the longest life.
Together with Jamadagni, praising, sit in the womb of truth; drink the Soma, O increasers of truth.
For you, O Agni, the gods, ever seeking, have established you as god, as the unfailing one, by their will; the immortal, worthy of sacrifice among mortals, the god of gods, the wise one, the all-wise, the wise one of all.
So, Agni, draw near to your brother Varuṇa, to the gods, to the most gracious, to the best among those who accept sacrifice; to the upholder of truth, the Āditya, the supporter of peoples, the king, the supporter of peoples.
As a friend to a friend, draw near, swift as a wheel to the chariot, O wondrous one, bring delight to us; Agni, together with Varuṇa, be gracious, with the Maruts, shining among all; bring happiness to our offspring, make us shine, O wondrous one, bring us happiness.
You, Agni, knowing the will of Varuṇa the god, drive away his anger from us; most fit for sacrifice, most radiant, release us from all hatreds.
So you, Agni, be our nearest protector at the breaking of this dawn; bring Varuṇa to us, granting favor, come, be gracious, be easy to invoke for us.
His is the best, most fortunate vision among mortals, the most splendid of the god; pure as clarified butter, heated for the unblemished one, precious as the cow's abundance for the god's greatness.
Three are his highest, true, and precious births of Agni, the god; endless within the end, he has come surrounded, pure, bright, noble, shining.
He, as messenger, calls all to the dwelling, the priest with golden chariot, with delightful tongue; with red horses, wondrous, shining, always joyful, like a father among his kin.
He, awakening, the ally of men in sacrifice, they lead forth with my reins; he moves among the difficult places, accomplishing, the god has attained companionship with mortals.
May this Agni, knowing, lead us to the treasure, the god-given gift that is his; by thought, as all the immortals have made, Heaven and Earth, the true creators, have let it rain.
He was born first in the dwellings, in the great depth of the atmosphere, in his womb; footless, headless, hidden, at the end, the young ones in the bull's lair.
The host arose, the first to perceive, in the womb of truth, in the bull's lair; precious, young, wondrous, shining, seven beloved ones were born for the mighty one.
Here, our human forefathers, longing for truth, pressed forward; breaking through stone barriers, they found the rich, milk-yielding treasures hidden within, calling forth the radiant dawns.
They, seeing, broke open the rock; others all around spoke of this deed. Those who bound the cattle, in pursuit of the work, discovered the light and fashioned it with their thoughts.
With desire for cows in their minds, they shattered the firm, enclosing rock, releasing the cattle that circled within; with divine speech, the men broke open the stronghold rich in cows.
They discerned the first name of the cow, finding the three and seven supreme treasures of the mother; knowing this, the groups hastened together, and the red, glorious forms of the cow became manifest.
The darkness vanished; the milk was bright; the sky shone; the sun’s radiance was set in motion by the divine dawns. The great sun stood in the unyoked space, straight among mortals, observing both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Awake from the beginning and the end, they revealed the paths; from the beginning, they bore the heaven-allotted treasure. May all the gods, O Mitra and Varuṇa, grant truth in every dwelling.
