Thus, my songs, inspired by the Soma, call Indra here for the drinking.
We invoke Indra here with hymns for the drinking of Soma; may he come with praises.
Indra, these Somas have been pressed; receive them, O hundred-powered, into your belly, O possessor of horses.
For we know you as the winner of wealth, bold in contests, O wise one; therefore we seek your favor.
Drink this Soma of ours, Indra, rich in cows and barley; come with the bulls to the pressed juice.
For you, Indra, in your own dwelling, I urge Soma for drinking; may this gladden your heart.
For the drinking of the pressed Soma, we, the Kuśikas, invoke you, Indra, as of old, for help.
Come hither, turning toward us, O you who are yoked to the chariot, to the seat prepared for you; after you, the drink of Soma is ready in the highest heaven. Beloved friend, release yourself and approach the sacred grass; these here, who carry the oblation, call upon you.
Come, traversing many peoples, O noble one, with blessings, approach us with your two bays. For these thoughts of ours, shaped by praise, call upon you, Indra, seeking your friendship.
Come to our sacrifice, which grows through reverence, together with your bays, O god Indra, and be present. For I call upon you with my thoughts, offering clarified butter, at the shared feast of sweetness.
And here your two strong, well-formed bays, O friend, will bear you; Indra, delighting in the pressing of the Soma, may the friend listen to the praises of his companion.
Will you make me the protector of the people, or a king, O generous one, mighty in battle? Will you make me a seer, one who has drunk the pressed Soma? Will you grant me a share of immortal wealth?
Let your great bays, yoked, bring you here, Indra, to the shared feast. They, coming swiftly from heaven, well-groomed, are the mighty ones of the bull.
Indra, drink of the pressed Soma, strong one, which the swift hawk has brought to you. By whose exhilaration you set the peoples in motion, by whose exhilaration you broke through the enclosures.
Let us call upon Indra, the generous one, in this contest, the best among men in the pursuit of prize. Fierce, listening for help in battles, slayer of obstacles, conqueror of wealth.
Let this Soma, pressed with the bays, be for you, O delightful one. Accept it, Indra, and come to us with your bays; mount your golden chariot.
You, delighting in the bays, make the dawn shine; you, delighting in the bays, make the sun shine. Knowing and wise, O Indra of the bay steeds, you increase all glories.
Indra held up the sky, golden with the bays, and the earth, shining with the color of the bays. He supported abundant food with the bays, between which the bay one moves.
Born, the bay bull shines in all the realms. The bay-steeded one takes up the golden weapon, the thunderbolt, golden in his arms.
Indra, with the bay-colored, bright, shining thunderbolt, covered in brilliance, opened up the pressed Soma with the bays and stones, and with the bays he shone forth.
Come, Indra, with your delightful bays, whose manes are like peacock feathers. Let no one restrain you, as a snare does not hold the swift; come as an arrow flies beyond.
Destroyer of Vṛtra, breaker of the enclosure, opener of the strongholds, born of the waters, you are the charioteer of the two bays, the one who approaches; Indra, you break even the firm.
Deep as the oceans, you possess wisdom, like cows their pasture. Well-guarded, the cows seek the grass, as channels flow to the lake.
Bring to us abundant wealth, which none can rival. Shake down, Indra, the ripe fruit from the tree, as one shakes down the harvest, O bringer of riches.
Self-powered, Indra, you are radiant; your guidance is self-chosen, your fame surpasses all. Thus grown in strength, much-praised, become for us the most renowned.
Of you, the mighty, youthful, and ancient Bull, the self-ruler, the fierce one, the unaging, the wielder of the thunderbolt—Indra—great indeed are the renowned deeds, the mighty deeds of the great one.
You are great, O Buffalo, with your manly powers, seeker of wealth, fierce, prevailing over others; you alone are king of all the world—by battle and by dwelling you govern the peoples.
By measure you have expanded, shining forth; with the gods, you are unsurpassed on every side. By your might, Indra, you have stretched out the sky and earth, and from the vast midspace you have drawn forth strength.
Wide, deep, mighty by birth, fierce, all-illuminating, a protector of thoughts—Indra, the pressed Somas, like rivers, flow to you in the highest heaven.
That Soma, O Indra, which earth and heaven, like a mother, bear for you as an embryo—this the priests pour out for you, this they cleanse for you, O Bull, for you to drink.
