May we call upon generous Indra in this contest, the best hero for the prize; may he, fierce, listening for help in the battles, strike down the Vṛtras, the conqueror of riches.
The thought arising from my heart seeks to praise Indra, the lord, with hymns shaped by devotion; she who is wakeful and praised in the assembly, O Indra, whatever is born of you, know that as yours.
Even from heaven, the ancient one is being born, ever watchful and praised in the assembly; wearing auspicious, bright garments, may this ancestral, eternal thought be with us.
Here, even Yama, the son of the god, stood at the tip of the tongue as it fell; the two forms, born together, unite—these roots of power dispel darkness.
Among mortals, none reproach those of ours—our fathers—who were warriors for the cows; Indra, mighty in strength, established their lineages, creating them anew with his power.
Where the friend, with new companions, followed the cows with knowledge and strength—this is true: Indra, with ten tens of cows, found the sun dwelling in darkness.
Indra found the honey gathered in the cow, with hoof and dewlap, the food of the cow; hidden, secret, concealed in the waters, he placed it in his right hand, skillful in giving.
Choosing light, knowing the darkness, may we be far from misfortune; O Indra, drinker of Soma, grown strong with Soma, accept these songs of the many-voiced poet.
May light follow the sacrifice across heaven and earth; may we be far from abundant harm; for even the many-hostile mortal, O Vasus, your splendid protections are great.
Let us call upon generous Indra in this contest, the foremost among men in the prize-winning; the mighty one who hears, for help in battles, who slays the foes and wins the wealth.
Indra, we call upon you, the bull, at the pressing of Soma; come, drink the sweetness of the Soma juice.

Indra, praised by many, delight in the pressed Soma, knower of resolve; drink, be exhilarated, and be satisfied.
Indra, with all the gods, lead our inspired sacrifice; surpass in praise, lord of the people.

Take into your belly the pressed Soma, O Indra, most excellent; the bright streams of Soma are yours.
O singer-loving one, drink our pressed Soma; you are delighted by the streams of sweetness, Indra, from you comes this fame.
The undiminished powers seek Indra, the victorious, for strength; having drunk Soma, he has grown.
Come to us from near or far, slayer of Vṛtra; accept these our songs.
Whenever you are invoked between the far and the near, O Indra, come here from there.
Come to us, Indra, eager for the Soma, summoned for the drinking; O wielder of the thunderbolt, approach with your two bays.
The priest, seated as the officiant, has spread the sacred grass in due order; in the morning, they have yoked the chariots.
These prayers, bearers of praise, are being performed; sit upon the sacred grass, O hero, and accept the sacrificial cake.
Rejoice with us in these libations, in these hymns, O slayer of Vṛtra, O Indra, lover of song, in these chants.
The thoughts of the Soma-drinker eagerly approach the lord of might, Indra, as mothers their calf.
So delight yourself with this Soma for great wealth and strength of body; do not abandon your praiser to want.
We, O Indra, devoted to you, offer with oblations; and you, O generous one, be gracious to us.
Let not your beloved bays carry you away from us; come near, Indra, self-sustaining, delight here with us.
Let the two long-haired ones bring you, Indra, on the pleasant chariot; sit upon the sacred grass anointed with ghee.
Come to our pressed Soma, Indra, rich in cows, with your two bays who are dear to you.
Come, Indra, to this exhilarating Soma, pressed and placed on the sacred grass with stones; may you perhaps be satisfied by it.
