Varuṇa, bearing a golden mantle, has put on his shining robe; his spies are stationed all around.
No one who seeks to harm, no one deceitful among men, no hostile force can overcome this god.
And he who among men has made unequaled fame, may that be within us.
My thoughts go forth, like cows following their pastures, longing for the far-seeing one.
Let us speak together again, from where my honey-bearing words come, like a priest to one who is dear.
May I see the all-seeing one, may I see him standing on his chariot; accept these my songs.
Hear this my call, O Varuṇa, and be gracious today; the one seeking help has turned to you.
You, wise one, rule over all, both heaven and earth; hear us in this our journey.
Release for us the highest bond, and the middle one, O Cṛta; let the lowest remain for life.
For you, O Lord of strength, the garments are prepared, O master of nourishment; offer this sacrifice for us.
Let the worthy Hotar, ever youthful, sit for us with our hymns; O Agni, with the heavenly speech.
Indeed, the father offers for the son, for protection; the friend, worthy of friendship.
Let Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman, O righteous ones, sit upon our sacred grass as men do.
Rejoice in our ancient Hotar and our friendship; listen now to these songs.
For even with perpetual offspring, we worship each god; the offering is kindled in you.
May the lord of the people, the delightful and worthy Hotar, be dear to us; we are dear to our own Agnis.
For our own Agnis, the gods have granted the prize; we honor our own Agnis.
Then, among both immortals and mortals, let there be mutual praises.
With all the Agnis, O Agni, with all the gods, offer this sacrifice, this speech; grant us the strength and glory.
Like a horse with splendid strength, we praise you, Agni, with reverence; sovereign among the sacrifices.
He, our son, powerful, far-reaching, most gracious, may he be generous to us.
From both far and near, from mortal harm and evil, protect us always, O universal guardian.
This new song of ours, O Agni, declare among the gods as our support.
Distribute to us in the highest, in the middle, and in the lowest prizes; teach us the wealth of the innermost.
You are the divider, O radiant one, of the waves of the river, coming near; you flow swiftly for the worshipper.
Whom you, Agni, protect among men in battles, whom you aid in contests, he attains perpetual riches.
No one can withstand his approach, whoever he may be; the prize is for fame.
May he, renowned among all peoples, bring the prize with swift horses; may he bring it with wise men.
Awaken with age, discern that, in each gathering, offer the hymn to Rudra, worthy of sacrifice.
May that great one, mighty, smoke-bannered, radiant before us, stir our thought for the prize.
