अग्निर्नेता भग इव क्षितीनां दैवीनां देव ऋतुपा ऋतावा । स वृत्रहा सनयो विश्ववेदाः पर्षद्विश्वाति दुरिता गृणन्तम्
Agni is the leader, like Bhaga, of peoples; divine, god, guardian of order, true to law. He, the slayer of Vritra, wise, all-knowing, may he lead the singer safely through all hardships.
दधिक्रामग्निमुषसं च देवीं बृहस्पतिं सवितारं च देवम् । अश्विना मित्रावरुणा भगं च वसून्रुद्राँ आदित्याँ इह हुवे
I call Dadhikrā, Agni, the divine Dawn, Bṛhaspati, Savitar the god, the Aśvins, Mitra, Varuṇa, Bhaga, the Vasus, Rudras, and Ādityas here.
इमं नो यज्ञममृतेषु धेहीमा हव्या जातवेदो जुषस्व । स्तोकानामग्ने मेदसो घृतस्य होतः प्राशान प्रथमो निषद्य
Place this sacrifice among the immortals for us; accept our offerings, Jātavedas. Agni, first seated as the priest, taste the portions of curds and clarified butter.
घृतवन्तः पावक ते स्तोका श्चोतन्ति मेदसः । स्वधर्मन्देववीतये श्रेष्ठं नो धेहि वार्यम्
Clarified butter flows for you, O pure one; the portions drip with fat. In your own place, for the divine feast, grant us the best reward.
तुभ्यं स्तोका घृतश्चुतोऽग्ने विप्राय सन्त्य । ऋषिः श्रेष्ठः समिध्यसे यज्ञस्य प्राविता भव
For you, Agni, the portions drip with clarified butter; they are for the wise. You are the best sage, you blaze up; be the protector of the sacrifice.
तुभ्यं श्चोतन्त्यध्रिगो शचीव स्तोकासो अग्ने मेदसो घृतस्य । कविशस्तो बृहता भानुनागा हव्या जुषस्व मेधिर
For you, Agni, the portions drip, unbroken, like strength; the portions of fat and clarified butter. Wise, with great radiance, accept the offerings, O thoughtful one.
ओजिष्ठं ते मध्यतो मेद उद्भृतं प्र ते वयं ददामहे । श्चोतन्ति ते वसो स्तोका अधि त्वचि प्रति तान्देवशो विहि
The strongest fat, raised from the midst, we offer to you. The portions drip, O gracious one, upon your skin; distribute them among the gods.
अयं सो अग्निर्यस्मिन्सोममिन्द्रः सुतं दधे जठरे वावशानः । सहस्रिणं वाजमत्यं न सप्तिं ससवान्सन्स्तूयसे जातवेदः
This is that Agni, in whom Indra placed the pressed Soma in his belly, eager. He is praised as Jātavedas, possessing a thousand powers, like a swift horse, victorious.
अग्ने यत्ते दिवि वर्चः पृथिव्यां यदोषधीष्वप्स्वा यजत्र । येनान्तरिक्षमुर्वाततन्थ त्वेषः स भानुरर्णवो नृचक्षाः
Agni, your brilliance is in the sky, on earth, in plants, and in waters, O worthy of worship. With it, you stretch across the vast atmosphere; your radiance is fierce, your light is seen by men.
अग्ने दिवो अर्णमच्छा जिगास्यच्छा देवाँ ऊचिषे धिष्ण्या ये । या रोचने परस्तात्सूर्यस्य याश्चावस्तादुपतिष्ठन्त आपः
Agni, you seek the flood of heaven; you approach the gods, the lords of the altar. Those who shine beyond the sun's realm, and those waters that stand below, you reach.
पुरीष्यासो अग्नयः प्रावणेभिः सजोषसः । जुषन्तां यज्ञमद्रुहोऽनमीवा इषो महीः
The Agnis, rich in moisture, with helpers, united, may they accept the sacrifice, free from harm, granting great blessings.
इळामग्ने पुरुदंसं सनिं गोः शश्वत्तमं हवमानाय साध । स्यान्नः सूनुस्तनयो विजावाग्ने सा ते सुमतिर्भूत्वस्मे
Agni, grant us abundant, lasting wealth, the best reward for the one who calls. May our son be victorious and wise; may your favor be with us.
निर्मथितः सुधित आ सधस्थे युवा कविरध्वरस्य प्रणेता । जूर्यत्स्वग्निरजरो वनेष्वत्रा दधे अमृतं जातवेदाः
Kindled, well-prepared, he sits in his place, young, wise, leader of the ritual. Agni, ever youthful, undying in the woods, Jātavedas, has established immortality here.
अमन्थिष्टां भारता रेवदग्निं देवश्रवा देववातः सुदक्षम् । अग्ने वि पश्य बृहताभि रायेषां नो नेता भवतादनु द्यून्
The Bhāratas have stirred up Agni, radiant, famed among the gods, divine by nature, skilled. Agni, look upon us with great wealth; be our guide through the days.
दश क्षिपः पूर्व्यं सीमजीजनन्सुजातं मातृषु प्रियम् । अग्निं स्तुहि दैववातं देवश्रवो यो जनानामसद्वशी
Ten sticks, ancient, have produced the well-born, beloved by mothers. Praise Agni, divine by nature, famed among the gods, who is the lord among peoples.
नि त्वा दधे वर आ पृथिव्या इळायास्पदे सुदिनत्वे अह्नाम् । दृषद्वत्यां मानुष आपयायां सरस्वत्यां रेवदग्ने दिदीहि
I have placed you, O best, upon the earth, in the seat of Iḻā, in the bright days. Shine, O radiant Agni, in the stone, among men, in the waters, in Sarasvatī.
इळामग्ने पुरुदंसं सनिं गोः शश्वत्तमं हवमानाय साध । स्यान्नः सूनुस्तनयो विजावाग्ने सा ते सुमतिर्भूत्वस्मे
O Agni, grant us abundant prosperity, the best and most enduring wealth of cows, for the one who offers; may our son and his offspring be victorious. O Agni, may your favor be with us.
अग्ने सहस्व पृतना अभिमातीरपास्य । दुष्टरस्तरन्नरातीर्वर्चो धा यज्ञवाहसे
Agni, overcome the hostile armies and adversaries; be difficult to defeat, repel the enemies, and bestow brilliance for the bearer of sacrifice.
अग्न इळा समिध्यसे वीतिहोत्रो अमर्त्यः । जुषस्व सू नो अध्वरम्
Agni, you are kindled by Iḻā, the immortal, the officiant; accept our sacrifice, O Lord.
अग्ने द्युम्नेन जागृवे सहसः सूनवाहुत । एदं बर्हिः सदो मम
Agni, awakened with splendor, son of strength, invoked; here is my seat, this sacred grass.
अग्ने विश्वेभिरग्निभिर्देवेभिर्महया गिरः । यज्ञेषु य उ चायवः
Agni, with all the fires and gods, magnify our praises; those who are active in the sacrifices.
अग्ने दा दाशुषे रयिं वीरवन्तं परीणसम् । शिशीहि नः सूनुमतः
Agni, give to the worshipper wealth, full of heroes and abundance; protect us with your favor for the sons.
अग्ने दिवः सूनुरसि प्रचेतास्तना पृथिव्या उत विश्ववेदाः । ऋधग्देवाँ इह यजा चिकित्वः
Agni, you are the son of heaven, wise, and also of earth, all-knowing; O wise one, worship the gods here.
अग्निः सनोति वीर्याणि विद्वान्सनोति वाजममृताय भूषन् । स नो देवाँ एह वहा पुरुक्षो
Agni, knowing, grants strength, grants prize for immortality; may he bring the gods here for us, full of gifts.
अग्निर्द्यावापृथिवी विश्वजन्ये आ भाति देवी अमृते अमूरः । क्षयन्वाजैः पुरुश्चन्द्रो नमोभिः
Agni, born of heaven and earth, universal, shines forth, divine, immortal, unfailing; dwelling with prizes, radiant with offerings and reverence.
अग्न इन्द्रश्च दाशुषो दुरोणे सुतावतो यज्ञमिहोप यातम् । अमर्धन्ता सोमपेयाय देवा
Agni and Indra, come to the worshipper's home, to the sacrifice of the one who presses Soma; O gods, undefeated, for the drinking of Soma.
अग्ने अपां समिध्यसे दुरोणे नित्यः सूनो सहसो जातवेदः । सधस्थानि महयमान ऊती
Agni, you are kindled among the waters, in the home, eternal, son of strength, knower of all births; magnify the seats with your aid.
वैश्वानरं मनसाग्निं निचाय्या हविष्मन्तो अनुषत्यं स्वर्विदम् । सुदानुं देवं रथिरं वसूयवो गीर्भी रण्वं कुशिकासो हवामहे
With mind, we approach Vaiśvānara Agni, the knower of light, bearing offerings, the generous god, the charioteer, the giver of wealth; the Kuśikas call him with songs.
तं शुभ्रमग्निमवसे हवामहे वैश्वानरं मातरिश्वानमुक्थ्यम् । बृहस्पतिं मनुषो देवतातये विप्रं श्रोतारमतिथिं रघुष्यदम्
We call upon that shining Agni for help, Vaiśvānara, Mātariśvan, worthy of praise; Bṛhaspati, the wise, the listener, the guest, swift to come for mankind's worship.
अश्वो न क्रन्दञ्जनिभिः समिध्यते वैश्वानरः कुशिकेभिर्युगेयुगे । स नो अग्निः सुवीर्यं स्वश्व्यं दधातु रत्नममृतेषु जागृविः
Like a neighing horse, Vaiśvānara is kindled by the Kuśikas in every age; may Agni grant us heroic strength, wealth in horses, and the treasure among immortals, ever watchful.
