Born from the flash of lightning, from the roar, may they protect us; may the Maruts show us mercy.
O Pūṣan, radiant one, bring the lost one, as a herdsman brings back a strayed animal, to the splendid seat of the sky.
Pūṣan, the radiant, found the hidden king, placed in secret, and brought him to the splendid seat.
And he, with the drops, will guide the six-yoked ones for me; with cows they thresh out the barley.
The waters move along their paths, sisters, to be used in the rite; they pour forth honeyed milk.
With these, by which the Sun rises, or with which the Sun is accompanied—may they further our sacrifice.
I call upon the divine waters, where our cattle drink; the offering is to be made to the rivers.
In the waters is ambrosia, in the waters is healing, and in the waters is blessing; O gods, be victorious.
In the waters, Soma spoke to me: within the waters are all remedies; Agni, the bringer of all good, and the waters, the givers of all healing.
O waters, grant healing, protection for my body, and let me see the Sun for a long time.
O waters, carry away this, whatever evil is in me—whether I have done wrong, or spoken a curse, or spoken untruth.
O waters, today I have come to you; we have mingled with your essence. O Agni rich in milk, come here; let him not deprive me of brilliance.
O Agni, grant me brilliance, offspring, and long life together; may the gods, may Indra, know this for me, along with the sages.
Of whom, indeed, of which immortal ones do we ponder the lovely name of the god? Who will restore us to Aditi, so that I may see my father and my mother again?
Of Agni, the foremost of the immortals, we ponder the lovely name of the god; may he restore us to Aditi, so that I may see my father and my mother again.
We approach you, O god Savitar, lord of treasures, always seeking a share.
Indeed, whoever is such a fortunate one, rejoicing, long ago placed impartiality in his hands.
We, devoted to your favor, O Bhaga, rise up by your help, grasping the summit of wealth.
Neither your sovereignty, nor your might, nor your wrath, nor your speed, O Namī, have the flying ones attained; these waters move unblinking, nor do those who measure the abyss of the wind.
King Varuṇa, pure in wisdom, has placed a lofty pillar in the forest; its roots are below, its top above—within us are hidden signs.
For King Varuṇa has made a wide path for the sun to follow; he has made footprints without feet for guidance, and he marks the heart with his speech.
A hundred, O king, are your healers, a thousand; may your vast, deep favor be ours. Drive away misfortune far from us; release us from whatever sin has been committed.
Those stars set high are fixed, seen by night, but where do they go by day? The laws of Varuṇa are unbroken; the moon shines forth and travels by night.
I approach you with prayer, honoring you; so the sacrificer commands with offerings. Be mindful here, O Varuṇa, without anger; O wide-famed, do not take away our life.
This, they say, by night and by day, is mine; this sign appears in the heart. Śunahśepa, whom they bound and seized, may King Varuṇa release him for us.
Śunahśepa, indeed, was seized and bound on three posts for the son of Aditi; let King Varuṇa, knowing and faultless, release him from the bonds.
Remove your anger, O Varuṇa, with reverence, with sacrifices and offerings we seek you. As lord, wise, king, forgive the wrongs we have committed.
Release the highest bond, O Varuṇa, from us; loosen the lowest and the middle. Then, O Āditya, in your law, may we be guiltless, belonging to Aditi.
Whatever, O Varuṇa, your law is, as the people, as the god, we examine it, day by day.
Do not harm us for offense or for transgression, nor for anger at one who is remorseful.
