May great Heaven and Earth measure out this sacrifice for us; may they support us with their abundance.
Of these two, the wise delight in the ghee-rich milk with their thoughts, at the steadfast seat of the Gandharva.
O Earth, be gentle, firm, and a secure resting place; grant us wide and ample protection.
From where Viṣṇu has stretched out, from there may the gods protect us, with the seven stations of the earth.
Viṣṇu has stepped forth here, placing his footstep in threefold fashion, firmly set in the dust.
Viṣṇu, the guardian, unassailable, strode out three steps; from there he upholds the laws.
Behold the deeds of Viṣṇu, from where his sacred ordinances are made manifest; he is Indra's worthy companion.
That highest step of Viṣṇu the wise always behold, like an eye extended in the sky.
The inspired seers, awake and discerning, kindle that highest step of Viṣṇu.
Come, O Vāyu, to these strong, pressed Somas, full of sweetness; drink those that are set forth.
We call both gods, Indra and Vāyu, who touch the sky, to drink this Soma.
Indra and Vāyu, swift as thought, the wise invoke you for aid, O thousand-eyed, lords of insight.
We call upon Mitra and Varuṇa for the drinking of Soma, both born with pure skill.
By truth, ever-growing, lords of truth and of the light—those Mitra and Varuṇa I invoke.
May Varuṇa, the protector, and Mitra, with all their aids, grant us their gracious favor.
We call upon Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, to drink the Soma; may he rejoice together with his host.
The Maruts, whose chief is Indra, the divine hosts, bestowers of wealth—may all of them hear my invocation.
You generous ones, who slew Vṛtra with Indra, yoked with might—may hostile speech not rule over us.
We call upon all the gods, the Maruts, to drink the Soma; for they are fierce, born of Pṛśni.
Like a victorious thunderer, the Marut host approaches with boldness; whatever is auspicious, grant that, O men.
Born from the flash of lightning, from the roar, may they protect us; may the Maruts show us mercy.
O Pūṣan, radiant one, bring the lost one, as a herdsman brings back a strayed animal, to the splendid seat of the sky.
Pūṣan, the radiant, found the hidden king, placed in secret, and brought him to the splendid seat.
And he, with the drops, will guide the six-yoked ones for me; with cows they thresh out the barley.
The waters move along their paths, sisters, to be used in the rite; they pour forth honeyed milk.
With these, by which the Sun rises, or with which the Sun is accompanied—may they further our sacrifice.
I call upon the divine waters, where our cattle drink; the offering is to be made to the rivers.
In the waters is ambrosia, in the waters is healing, and in the waters is blessing; O gods, be victorious.
In the waters, Soma spoke to me: within the waters are all remedies; Agni, the bringer of all good, and the waters, the givers of all healing.
O waters, grant healing, protection for my body, and let me see the Sun for a long time.
